Went there for dinner. Price was good for a buffet. The sushi was very bad, the rice was hard, you could tell it was left over. I had a small bit of almost everything. The fried foods were ok, nothing special. The crayfish was good. I didn’t try the grill.

I can’t eat $ 10 of buffet food so this is a rip for me and my partner who can’t eat much either. Their food was decent and fairly warm albeit I like my food hot and if it isn’t I am not pleased. Lots of choices but none of it was mouth watering fantastic but that is sort of par for the course with buffets. Staff were attentive and friendly. Clean environment and very large. Large parking lot. Very busy when we were there.

The Mongolian grill and the buffet are good but the sushi bar is fantastic!

This is by far the best Mongolian grill I’ve been to. First the service. Every single time I’ve been here the service has been stellar. There are few waitresses that have remember me, even when it’s been months/years between visits. Comparing apples to apples, on the Mongalian grill selection, this restaurant has a better variety compared to HuHot. There is shrimp and the sauce selection is spicier! With that out of the way, let’s see where this restaurant pulls ahead. It has a full selection of what you would find at most Chinese buffets, and in my opinion of much better quality. Then you have Louisiana style crawfish, and then to top it off a Sushi bar. It might not be a fancy Sushi bar, but for the price it’s better than Fuji if you like Sushi rolls. And did I mention, you get all that for a cheaper price than HuHot. Whenever I’m in Ames, I make Mongolian Buffet one of my top choices to eat.

If you are all about buffets than you will like it. But this place is too crowded, too dirty, the food labels aren’t accurate so what you’re eating is a mystery. I gave it 2 chances, not making that mistake a third time.

Very good, solid Chinese food. I’ve been in three times and the wait staff is very accommodating to any type of special request. They are very accommodating based on your time schedule.

The gentleman that was cleaning our table and getting our drinks was great. He was friendly and very quick to grab anything we needed. The woman who was working the cash register was extremely hostile to my group. She made it feel like it was a overwhelming burden to split the check among a few people. The food in general is okay, but I really enjoyed the sushi bar. The beer was very reasonably priced at $ 3 a bottle.

Very good food, sushi bar was awesome! Eva has been our waitress the last two times we have been and she is a sweetheart. Always makes you feel special… she is great. Loved the new little seafood pies. We will be back on our next trip to Ames.

Good variety of choices, they also have a «build your own bowl» option which I found pretty awesome. The food was pretty good, but I’ve had better. The atmosphere is a bit noisy and crowded, but what buffet isn’t? Our server was very busy, so we didn’t much of her — not that it’s her fault. The staff was very friendly. Had some other customers get impatient and rude while I was waiting for my personalized bowl of noodles to be prepared by the cooks(they prepare the bowls in front of you at a griddle station), LOL. Overall, I had a good experience and would return if I’m nearby again.

The food I picked for the Mongolian grill was very good. I had pork and shrimp, noodles, veggies, etc. I really enjoyed it. On the buffet they had a wide variety of things. The buffet wasn’t as fresh as I would have cared for but it was late in the evening near closing. I’d try it again just earlier in the day

Most horrible Chinese buffet I have ever been. The food and service is not worth me to pay lot tips. If a customer don’t give them enough tips, they’ll say bad words in Chinese to this customer. Never go that buffet again!(UPDATE: The employee of the buffet now sending me message with bad language because I rate it low. No matter what you say, your service and food are worst in town.)

If you like sea food buffet, this is really a good choice. The price is $ 14.5 including tip, which is reasonable for student. There are crab, sushi, fish and shrimp. This is a good place for people who want’s nutritious low calorie food without paying too much.

One of my favorite restaurant in Ames. Sushi is as good as other places in Ames but much cheaper. With a fair price, I can easily get seafood, beef, pork and lots of fruit. That’s a good supplier of protein I need after workout.

Their grill is the best part of this place! We go quite frequently and my husband likes the grill. I prefer the King Salmon and Roast beef. Our son likes the white rice and chicken. We will be going here as often as we can. They just put in new carpet even! Their grill is phenomenal! Please visit this restaurant. Very friendly wait staff and the cook is the owner.

You can actually clean eat at this buffet. Fresh selection of veggies to get them grilled on the wok plus the largest selection ever to create your mongolian bbq w/sauces galore. King salmon served during dinner. Needs less canned fruits(no canned pineapples), please stop drizzling sugar on the strawberries, serve them natural. Try the habanero hot sauce!

Second time here… not like the first time. Service was good but there were three kinds of sushi out and they didn’t make more while I was there. Other food tasted like it had been out for a while. Will try again but won’t go back if not better next time.

My wife and I decided to try this place out Sunday night and were pretty pleased. A friend of ours is a big fan and now so are we. Is it the best or most various? For Iowa buffets it is on the higher end. The biggest sell is the grill setup where you choose your noodles, meat, veggies, and sauces and the guys grill it up. Check out their suggested recipes and give them a try. I loved the curry sauces. And the customer service is total Midwestern love. Their waiters are the best! Also, the fried chicken is the best in town. Only people that can fry chicken anywhere near as good as Black people are Asians.

I love Mongolian buffets(especially Genghis Grill, having never been to a Hu Hot) but Mongolian Buffet grossed me out, and I won’t eat there again. The veggies were okay. They need spoons to sample sauces before you try them, but since I wasn’t able to taste test I played it safe with teriyaki, which wasn’t very good. The biggest problem I had with the buffet was the meat, which was all indiscernible in its raw form. Yeah, raw meats tend to look alike, but this all looked like wet, pinkish cardboard. I ended up going with shrimp because I was able to identify it, but it was flavorless. There is also a buffet of generic hot food — fried rice, mashed potatoes, chicken nuggets, etc. I tried a few things and everything was bland and you could tell it had been sitting there for awhile. They also have pre-made sushi rolls, which sit chilling in tubs on ice, but I didn’t feel like getting food poisoning on that particular day so I avoided them. There is a Mongolian buffet in Campustown that I’m looking forward to trying, but I won’t be returning to Mongolian Buffet.
