I have been at this Panera well in excess of 10 times over the past couple years. It’s a drag how busy it is, because at certain times you will wait 5 – 10 minutes for your order to be placed or find a seat. What is completely unacceptable is the 1990’s era bandwidth of their wi fi. Half the time you can’t open a window or get knocked off your browser. Then, you get kicked off after«30 minutes» of usage, which wasn’t really 30 minutes at all. What’s funny is you can almost pick up the wi fi fom the Chick Fil-a across the street sitting at Panera! C’mon greedy Panera franchisee, spend some money on your bandwidth. You have lost me as a customer.

Panera is panera when it comes to food. But the service at this one needs help. Had a manager take our order and was less than excited to do so. He wasn’t really thinking when it came to efficiency and didn’t let us finish an order of 5 people ultimately ending in 4 separate trips to the bakery at turtle speed. A note to corporate: maybe holidays should follow weekend hours for breakfast hours or a good manager would offer customers an exception for being 5 minutes off.

Guy who took my order was very nice and pleasant. Chicken Panini was terrible… bread tasted like it was 3 weeks old. Only good things were the chips and cookie but for $ 11.35 definitely better places to go.

I’m a big fan of panera. This panera is basically just like any other. Reliable, delicious, and quick food. I haven’t had any issues at this location. The staff is pretty average, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Overall«A-OK».

They are rude to customers and impolite. Food is so so. It’s loud, crowed and messy! Don’t go to this Panera!

Since we no longer eat at chains, we no longer eat at Panera, and I’m okay with that, having never eaten there much anyway. This Panera is the same as every other Panera. The bakery items are fresh and good, but I have always been underwhelmed by their sandwiches and soups and pretty much everything on their menu… except the mac & cheese, which is outstanding.

I love this place! The food is great. Service was fast and friendly even during busy times. Atmosphere is usually pretty busy. Great selection of breads and desserts. I would highly recommend their creamy chicken and wild rice soup and the brocoli and cheese soup.

Good Panera bread, soup & salads. Plenty of parking, free wireless & booths available when we stopped in(dinner-time).

Panera is one of the most popular stops when we grab breakfast for our staff meetings. They really do breakfast items exceptionally well. Their souffles are in my opinion their strongest item and they do a very solid job on their scones and pastries. This place is always very busy, it’s a popular place in the mornings for people to congregate and grab a cup of coffee. I have found their coffees to be underwhelming and their lunches to be expensive and disappointing. They do make a wide selection of artisan breads that you can purchase and take home with you aside from their ready to eat pastries, sandwiches and soups. My biggest gripe with Panera is the expense. I can get similar items(which the exception of their exclusive souffles) elsewhere in Ames at much more competitive prices.

I certainly notice the Panera bakery chain more often these days. I’ve been to the one in Ankeny and stopped at the Ames store a week or so ago on the way out to Des Moines. Service was fast and friendly. My sweet roll was tasty, but my coffee was just OK. I’m sure I’ll visit another Panera in the future, although I’ll always be on the lookout for a local bakery first.
