It’s a nice hotel but they don’t have enough parking and don’t have a solution to help you park. Breakfast bar is pretty bad.

Pros: great price with corporate discount($ 100/night), friendly and helpful staff, clean, breakfast was good, location good Cons: walls were paper thin — thank goodness we could turn fan on otherwise we could hear conversations and TV in neighboring rooms, shampoo only in bathroom(no conditioner and very generic product), small & cold pool, no bananas or hot chocolate at breakfast

Perhaps it’s too soon to tell, but the Sleep Inn & Suites seems to be a great new hotel option for the city of Ames. Open only two weeks as of this writing, with a swimming pool that’s not quite ready and landscaping yet to be completed, a full review is not quite possible. That said, the staff is friendly, the rooms are bright and contemporary and the breakfast is solid(waffles, eggs, juice, oatmeal, yogurt…). It’s also a smoke free property, which I like. Rooms have microwave ovens and mini refrigerators. The hotel is not right next to ISU, but is reasonably convenient for ISU visitors. It’s actually very close to the ISU basketball practice facility. There’s a fun bowling alley next door and pizza nearby. What else could you want? It’s has three stories. I stayed in a third floor room. It was exceptionally quiet, but the hotel was mostly empty. I think I was the first person to ever stay in the room I occupied. I’m interested in seeing how the hotel will be maintained after over time. Some new hotel issues such as cable tv(Mediacom gets one star), staff familiarity with simple things like breakfast hours, room cleaning confusion… are very evident. The potential is there and that’s what the four star rating reflects. FYI, I booked through Hotwire at a bargain price, no doubt boosting the positive tone of this review.
