2nd time playing here… the greens were pretty beat up. Shooting to most of the pins was a bumpy experience, making for a very hard game. Still, sun was shining, beer was cold and the cigars were tasty. First day off in over a month. Better than going to work.

This not a country club at all. Course was in ok shape but the tee boxes are horrendous !

The Amherst Country Club has got to be the best public course I’ve ever played. And I am speaking from a condition standpoint: The tees were in great shape, the greens were EXCELLENT, and I found no damaged fairway or rough. Maybe the occasional wet spot, but this was after several days of rain! Still, this is a GREAT golf course. It has character(you cross some bridges), it has challenge(some slightly maddening holes BUT — fun!) and it has QUIET(very slight road noise!). AND — beer cart girls!!! YAY Octoberfest whilst golfing!!! - The clubhouse is adorable — which is an odd word to use, being a man. BUT it’s true: It has a cute restaurant-bar type area on the top/first floor with the pro shop, and restrooms and offices on the bottom floor. Everyone I met who worked here were really nice. Carts were nice quiet electric ones(yah, some places STILL have noisy gas carts!). Food was all right(it was part of a charity event so, for what it was it was good.). For the charity event, they had a large tent out back, and a giant porch with a roof over it where the dinner and raffles were held. It’s a good space for an event. They even had an outdoor bar. - I had a great time here. The course is in excellent shape, and the clubhouse is well-maintained and is suitable for a large group event. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend this place!
