Captain Video

This is a wonderful movie rental place. The staff are movie enthusiasts with killer recommendations. Lots of fun candy for sale. You get free popcorn with every rental, just ask! It is very easy to find what you are looking for and they are stocked to the brim with movies of all genres.
I live on the other side of Amherst, so Captain Video’s rental return dropbox located at Spirit Haus is really convenient for me! I don’t even have to return to the store to drop my movies off. They charge $ 1 for every day late, which is pretty reasonable. I’ve even returned movies that were days late and gotten completely off the hook!
My boyfriend and I are routing for Captain Video’s survival! This place is so pleasantly nostalgic.

Seemingly infinite selection with a middle finger up to the competition. Combine fair prices to add some spice to the sizzle and you got yourself a great video store

I’m such a fan of this place, not only were the employees super nice and informative but the selection is pretty awesome.
I can always find what I’m looking for and when I can’t then I can put my name on a waiting list and my name will get called when the movie arrives. Plus you can get a bag of free popcorn with your movie purchase so you don’t really have to buy any.
Nothing negative for me to say about this place, I think everyone should check this place out. I have netflix and still come here just for those few shows that I can’t get on the instant stream. Like Modern Family or Whose Line Is It Anyway.

Whoever says the modern day video store is dead needs to check with The Captain.
This independent movie shop in Amherst is everything a movie store should be. It’s filled, wall to wall, with titles — some new releases but the heart of this place lies with it’s selection of weird old films, from comedies to cult classics and everything in between. The sections are even labeled with fun, hanging wooden thought bubbled above the rows.
The staff is friendly and helpful and will help you if you need it. Totally don’t be afraid to ask.
The prices cannot be beat at a place like this. They have amazing specials 5 non-​new dvd rentals for $ 7. We rented a ton of movies (like about 12) and it came out to less than $ 25. Fantastic.
My friends and I do a 24-​hour movie marathon every year. Last year, the selection at BlockBuster was so bad we nearly gave up the fest. This year we went to The Captain and it was like it was a decade ago when we started our fest and Blockbuster had every movie we could think of. This place rejuvenated the Fest. And for that, Captain, I salute you!

Captain Video is the best. It’s a local business with people that care… everyone in the neighborhood goes there so you can just about always find someone you know to ask for a recommendation of a movie, and if not, some of the staff members are super helpful.
They get to know your type of movie and help you find something that fits your need.
Plus, they sell local ice cream from Barts.

Sometimes I wish the Cumbies would just expand and take over this place… No, just kidding. Captain has a great selection of videos (i’ve always found what i was looking for) and the staff is super helpful and friendly! You can’t go wrong at Captain.
Oh, and free popcorn and bins of candy! heck yes.

Friendly staff, a great collection of television series and movies, excellent deals on movie rentals, (get 5 non-​new dvd rentals for $ 7, for example), and free popcorn while you search (as well as candy to buy for the movie, sold inexpensively in big bins), makes Captain Video my favorite video rental store!
