Golden Booty Tanning

Generally really clean, awesome experiences I’ve had here so far.
The beds are nice, they tan well, huge fan of the 18 minute mattress bed. In two sessions I had a good enough base tan to go on vacation with.
Customer service could be friendlier.
And the only really big problem I’ve ever had here is one time the girl working there during the day actually unlocked the door and started coming in when I was still near fully undressed. Which I thought was horrifically unprofessional. I’ve been here three times and it only happened once.
Other than that, pretty recommended.

CONS:
*You don’t start the machine yourself. Rooms are set to auto start timer 4 minutes after you enter (you should apply lotion before you arrive)
*Rooms are very warm. There is a fan running in the room. A second fan starts up when your lights turn on. Its necessary because before & after its on you feel like your in an oven.

This place is the best. The staff are nice, the beds and rooms are clean, and they frequently have package and lotion specials. The owner is very knowledgeable about tanning and still keeping your skin in good condition. Although tanning is typically expensive and there is a huge amount of markup on lotions no matter where you go, they run specials so often that I’ve gotten a ton of products for a low price. They have a large selection of well maintained tanning units, and although they recommend you make an appointment, I never do and I hardly ever have to wait.

I don’t normally write long and detailed reviews but after previously writing a rather bitchy and mean review where I sort of went off into a rant… I felt it was necessary to rewrite this review strictly on the cold hard facts. My rating is more of a 2.5 stars than 3.
A few months ago I came here with a couple friends to try tanning for the first time. First thought about this place was that they had a really nice set-​up. When I walked in the first thing that came to mind was pirates (golden booty, get it?) meets tropical island. Cute, very cute. Unlike many tanning salons I see that look like some sort of cloning factory with big metal machines, Golden Booty resembled something like an island resort with many rooms. Besides being clean (which I expect from a tanning salon), it had… personality.
When you walk in, to the left side is a bunch of things you can buy if you are really serious about being bronze. There is a shelf full of tanning lotions which I know little about, tanning goggles so your eyes don’t die, and stickers (FREE) you can put on your body prior to tanning so when you peel it off after, you can see how tan you got. Stickers come in variety from simple shapes to more classy choices, like the Playboy Bunny lol.
Now, I don’t know jack shit about tanning but my bed looked very clean. It had a pillow, towel, eye wear and a piece of candy (butterscotch, in case you were curious). There was also this body spray that you use after tanning (not sure what its purpose is but it smelled and felt nice). The tanning room was a good size, enough room to freely get naked and lather up on tanning lotion.
In terms of the salon in itself, I liked it. But it was ultimately the service that made me unhappy. First of all, I had to wait 20 minutes after my appointment to finally get my tan on. The length of the wait wasn’t dreadfully awful (I’ve waited much longer for appointments in the past) but it was the fact that my two friends were already done with their tans by the time I even started and we had scheduled at the same time. I was also upset by the lack of attention I was given. As other customers were coming in and getting put into their tanning room before me, I was still sitting in the same spot with no one even offering me an update or explanation as to why I am still waiting and rereading Starz Magazine for the tenth time. I’m sure it can get really busy but a ‘sorry for the wait, it’s a little slow right now because of XYZ, but thank you for waiting so patiently’ would have made a huge difference in my overall experience and satisfaction. Secondly, I had made an appointment for a booth NOT a bed, and when I finally was given the okay to enter my designated room, lo and behold, a tanning BED. At this point, I was too upset and annoyed to even complain since I just wanted to get my tan over with without waiting any longer.
My personal experience here definitely wasn’t the best and I can’t say that I would ever go back but I do know a couple people who absolutely love the place and have never had a bad experience here. If you just need a cute and clean place to get tan, I do recommend checking this place out… I just wouldn’t expect too much on the customer service spectrum.
