Henion Bakery

I ordered a cake from them to be delivered to a local restaurant as we were having a luncheon for my friend who adopted her second son today.
I knew nothing about this restaurant, save for the fabulous reviews on the internet. They could not be more on the money. The cake was the best I’ve ever had. In order to ensure everyone liked the cake, I ordered a vanilla cake with strawberry buttercream icing. OMG, it was beyond delicious. I ate two pieces — the excuse being that it was SO light…
The bakery delivered it to a local restaurant for us, no problem. I can’t say enough for the professionalism and fabulousness of this bakery. I cannot wait to go in in person the next time we are back up in that area.

The level of care and attention that goes into each pastry is amazing. I went to order a birthday cake and one of the owners sat down and essentially interviewed me about what I wanted and as a result crafted the perfect cake. Everything is as fresh as possible. The donuts are splendid, the muffins bursting with flavor and the pecan rolls are the perfect treat. However, nothing says «I care» more than a custom cake from Henion. You have to order well in advance, but it will be just what you wanted and boxed beautifully.

I discovered them by total accident last week. I could not decide between two loafs so I bought both and I was not disappointed. It turns out my wife bought cakes from them before. I will be going to local business for all my bakery needs.

The best bakery around for your wedding cake! Henion Bakery made our wedding cake and we were overjoyed with how perfect everything was. We had given Dave two photos of inspiration for what we wanted our cake to look like and his creation was even better than the pictures! His whole presentation with the flowers from the florist and the cake topper came together beautifully.
We ended up ordering three different flavors as they were all so delicious we couldn’t pick just one! I can’t speak to all of their flavors, but the ones we picked were delicous, we went with Devils Food Cake with Chocolate Ganche, Spanish Almond with Mocha frosting, and Red Velvet with Cream Cheese frosting. We ordered more cake than guests as we knew we had a ‘sweet tooth’ crowd and I’m glad we did as they all enjoyed the cake so much there was not a single piece left over.
Two of our guest asked who the cake was made by as one of them wanted to use for their wedding the following summer and the other was hosting an anniversary party for their parents.

This is easily the best bakery in Amherst and one of the best in the Pioneer Valley. There is nothing better than strolling over for a sticky bun in the morning. The buns have a crunch caramel crust with a soft, chewy cinnamon-​laced dough. I love this place.
And the french crullers are probably the greatest thing of all time.

These folks made our baby shower cake and did a wonderful job with it. Delicious and pretty, reasonably priced too!

Henion Bakery did the cake for our wedding this past summer, and we were thrilled with the result. Not only was the cake beautiful, but it also tasted incredible. This is a fantastic local bakery, Steve is great to work with and I would recommend them to any bride looking for a baker.

I… love…this…place! Everything, yes literally everything, is great. That’s the problem though. I want to go everyday!

Echoing other reviews, one of the most outstanding jelly donuts I’ve ever had. Certainly a revelation of freshness. Coated in granulated sugar, so watch out for the mess.
The chocolate chip and the salted peanut butter chocolate chip cookies were crunchy and dry and tasted a few days old. A real disappointment.
But that jelly donut! It could battle the jelly donut at Red’s Donuts in Monterey, CA:

I love this bakery! It always has new and different types of pastries to try on top of their usual delicious standard ones. It is a one of a kind bakery that can’t be found anywhere else. Their Brioche, Russian Tea Cake, Bee Sting Coffee Cake are all magnificent! They have chocolate dipped almond horns, homemade donuts and sticky buns. The list goes on and on. It is always difficult to decide what to get. If you live or are passing by the Amherst MA area this bakery is a must to stop in!

Just passing through town on business and thought I would bring some cookies to a meeting. By complete chance, I stopped by Henion Bakery and almost had to forcibly remove myself. I wanted to stay all day and sample everything — especially the doughnuts, which looked droolingly delicious.
I can only speak to the cookies, and they were divine and made me the most popular person at the meeting today.

i’ve heard of Henion for a while now, since I was a freshmen my Econ professor recommended it to us. He suggested to go early in the morning when they first open to get FRESH donuts, right from the oven. Supposedly they’re divine and are needed to be tried at least once before I graduate UMass.
Who the heck will be awake to take a bus from campus just to eat a freaking donut right?
Well 2 years later I’m a junior and I do just that during finals week. Probably wasn’t the smartest decision after pulling an all-​nighter but they were pretty darn good, pretty worth the craziness.
I got a french crueller and something else but it was UNAPPETIZING! … in comparison to their fresh donuts! So it was pretty good, would I do that again. probably not during finals week.
Just try it if you’re a student in the area, these donuts are quite good, it’s not a sit in place. Maybe for 2 but the shop is small, its a grab and go place

I had the Jelly doughnut and it did indeed blow my mind. Super fresh with great quality raspberry jam inside. I had a coffee to accompany my doughnut and it was good too.

The Henion’s owner and staff definitely put all they have into both making the baked goods and serving visitors. From the simple cookies to mouth watering cakes, this place is top tier. Donuts… you simply can’t find better in the northeast. If you typically do not like jelly donuts, this is the place to try it again. You will likely return. I have tasted their cakes, donuts, breads, scones, and more. I didn’t like scones until trying theirs. I have always found scones to be dry. They do not have that problem here. Have fun…

This, perhaps, is Amherst heresy– but I like Henion’s french loaf *loads* more than the baguettes from Black Sheep. Also, every time I see the cookies, I have to restain myself from buying one. I don’t know if they’re any good, but they look amazing.

Best doughnuts and pastries in the valley!!! Fresh and delicious!

They have a great selection of breads, and baked desserts like cookies. Their «sugar cookies» are actually butter cookies. They had some cute little croissants when I was here.

An excellent bakery – the bread is delicious and fresh, the scones are the best I’ve ever had, the other pastries are always wonderful. They serve coffee, too, and have several tables for eating in. Another Amherst jewel.
