OKay. So YES this place is good. But NO it is not the best in this area. I had super high expectations, and maybe I just got the wrong thing… but I got a sundae and was not impressed at all. Like okay so yeah it is ice cream so DUH it is good… but for the price… and for the hype… it should be better. I actually liked the fries more than the custard and that is a crime for me to even think that.

Tourist trap. $ 1.50 for two potatoes? Are you kidding me? Strawberries looked homegrown but no prices displayed let me know they were probably as overpriced as the rest of the products. Seriously!!! They have 2/$ 4.00 avocados! You can buy 6/$ 3.00 at my local chain grocery. This place is for city people who don’t know better. Save some cash and drive next door to the farm that actually grows what they sell.

The first time I went to Krieg’s, I expected their frozen custard to have around the same consistency, texture, and joy found in a normal soft serve cone. This is no McDonald’s 50 cent cone, far exceeding even industrial type self-soft-serve machines. The first bite so tantalizing, tongue wrapped in a creamy mixture, consistency the thickness of full fat ice cream slightly softened, I died. Before even the first taste, I marveled at the«small» size for $ 2.00. The massive, expertly piled soft serve standing as a triumphant symbol to everything Midwestern summers should and do stand for. America! Krieg’s is more than worth the trek. Their custard flavor changes weekly and they offer punch cards– 10 purchases and you get a free cone! In addition to frozen deliciousness, they offer a variety of foods, fried novelties, such as mushrooms, and an unhurried, undemanding environment. The only thing that breaks my heart is that Krieg’s is only open until October 31, so HURRY fill up on your frozen treats, and don’t forget to bring your punchcard! Favorite frozen custard flavor: PEACH

Krieg’s is AMAZING. Whether it was a stop on the way to Jamie’s Flea Market, or a bike ride for this reason alone, a visit to Krieg’s was always a special one. I have come for so many years, and even though I don’t live there any more, I still visit anytime I am in Ohio. And thank GOD my family now lives even closer to Krieg’s! They have a variety of «Ice Cream Stand» classics that you see in so many places in rural Ohio(fried food, burgers, etc.), but the real treat is, of course, the frozen custard. Not frozen yogurt, not ice cream … CUSTARD. And the best part is, they always have a «flavour of the day»(or maybe«flavour of the week»?) and it often utilizes the berries from the Krieg family berry farm. It is rare when I order something other than the flavour of the day. Krieg’s is not to be missed if you are a fan of frozen custard. It is absolutely classic.

Krieg’s, sometimes known by its subtitle, «Itz the Berries,» is one of the best-kept secrets of Oberlin. Several minutes drive(or a solid bike-ride) away on 58, Krieg’s frozen custard stand has amazing soft-serve and hand-dipped ice creams made from local ingredients. There is a special frozen yogurt flavor each week– pumpkin and peach are especially excellent. There is also food, but my friends and I have never eaten anything but the wonderful desserts. The staff are friendly and prompt. They close for the winter, but open well before summer kicks in and are open until October 31st. There are tables and a grassy area nearby, just across the gravel parking area. This is a great roadside stand that seems to be run by a local family who also owns a local berry farm.
