Oriental Flavor

This is probably the best Chinese restaurant around Amherst. I loved the cumin chicken that I ordered. However the triple delight and the house special tofu that my friends ordered had too much oil in the sauce. I have been here quite a few times and love the dumplings too.

This place is great. House made ingredients makes the dumplings here the best around.

So good. Just so so good. Go for dim sum with a group of people and order a little of everything. The vegetables, the freshness… I can’t even go into detail without being caught in a trance state of revery. Don’t know what to order? Look at other peoples’ tables– or just point to something you’ve never had– you won’t be disappointed (so branch out, honkees)

Very delicious. Authentic Chinese food, rather than Americanized Chinese. Highly recommend.

This is truly the pinnacle of Chinese food in America. I read the reviews and was very impressed so I gave it a try, I went with my significant other. Even though the place was packed for a Sunday evening (a very good sign) a table was made ready for us nice and quick. And you can tell that this place takes itself seriously because they only give you chopsticks, you have to ask for american utensils. Fair warning, this is not a good place for groups and there is no private seating. Picking from their extensive menu was easy. We shared the Crystal Shrimp Dumpling (as recommended by virtually everyone on Unilocal), General Tso’s Chicken (a favorite of mine), and Chicken Fried Rice. We were immediately given delicious tea and full, cool glasses of water.
The wait for our food was very short. The dumplings came out right away and so did the fried rice. I was skeptical at first because neither of us have had «Crystal Shrimp Dumplings» before but after one bite we were amazed. And please don’t be afraid to try the sauce that comes with it! The sauce is a light and nice compliment to the dumpling! Absolutely delicious!
The fried rice was delicious, no need to spend the extra dollar for pork because the chicken fried rice was better than any other I had ever had.
Next came the most amazing General Tso’s Chicken in all of America. The plate came beautifully lined with perfectly cooked broccoli. Not too crunchy and not too soft. They have the science of broccoli down to an exact science, which actually prompted us to finish all of our broccoli (I hardly ever eat the vegetables that come with chinese food)!!! The chicken was perfectly cooked, crunchy on the outside and soft like a cloud on the inside. The sauce was scrumptious as well. Everything was perfect. I have never had such a good experience at Chinese restaurant before. The portions were plentiful and we somehow cleaned our plates even though we saw many people take home their left overs. I left full and so did my significant other.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Go here and you will certainly not be disappointed. In fact, I can’t wait to go here again! And I certainly will give their delivery a try after such a good experience in the restaurant! I hear they have a great online ordering system with the full menu online.
I left a very generous tip even though my total bill came out to only $ 28.73
It’s a good place for a cheap and nice date, even a first date, I was here on a date in a long term relationship but it was still a great fit. I want to bring my parents here. Writing this review is making me hungry for more Oriental Flavor right now!

I found a hair in my food and when I approached the waiter he denied it being from his cook. I was told by the manager it was not from his cook and proceeded his business like nothing was wrong. That is a concern to me because at the very least he could have apologized or made the order over again or maybe but not necessary refunded me the cost of the pork friend rice. Instead the manager apologized by saying it was not their fault and he didn’t know where it came from. FYI I have very short hair and the hair I found was at least 12 inches long. After this experience I will make sure to inspect the food, but it will be a long time before I can return to this establishment.

Considering that the menu is a bit pricey, the expectations are high. They greet you with a cold glass of water or hot green tea (depending on the temperature outside), and are incredibly kind. The food is less Americanized than most places, and most of it is designed to be shared. This is nice because, when done this way, you get the opportunity to taste as many items as possible. Everything is hot, arrives quickly, and tastes wonderful.
