Sweets By Maggie

I went to Maggie’s when I was on my quest to find a bakery to make my wedding cake. Maggie’s was one of the first places that came to mind because of the amazing things I have heard about the location. Sadly, the overall experience fell completely short and I took my business elsewhere.
I came in with my sister and we were not greeted upon arrival (we were the only customers in the shop). We looked at the display case and then finally told the girl working the counter that we were actually interested in information for a wedding cake. She went to the back to get Maggie herself… Maggie comes out, points to a stack of brochures, and proceeds to tell us that everything we need to know is in the brochure or on the website… Um, okay? She didn’t even try to sell her business or make it a point to even get our business. She seemed completely disinterested in us. By this point, the people that work here were NOT convincing me that this is the place to get my wedding cake made. No greetings, no warm and fuzzies, no questions, nothing! Poor, poor, poor customer service! I then asked Maggie how far in advance do I need to book an order… she said it depends and then turned around and went into the back. My sister and I stood there dumbfounded at the entire exchange.
Again, we were left standing there with the girl behind the counter. Maggie nor the girl working ever offered the chance to come back for a cake tasting or even tried to convince us to try the baked goods in the display case. I said to the girl «Well, I guess I“ll take a few of these home to try with my husband…» I got an assortment of 6 cupcakes. Sadly, they all went in the trash. My husband took one bite and said it was the worst cupcake he ever had in his life, and I had to agree. Too much frosting, no flavor, yuck! The overall lack of customer service plus terrible cupcakes equaled an easy decision to go elsewhere for a wedding cake.

OMG! Sweets by Maggie does it ALL. Once my family and I discovered this hidden gem in Amherst, there was no going back. We have had custom cupcakes, cookies, cake balls and cakes. You can tell that Maggie puts a lot of heart and precision into each and every creation she makes. We are never disappointed. We have used her bakery for birthdays, baby showers, holidays, going away and gender reveal parties, etc. We are always in awe of what she comes up with and everything is delicious. every time!!!

Maggie and her staff made a very beautiful and delicious custom cake for my daughter’s bridal shower last month. Many of our guests commented on how delicious it tasted. They did a great job with the fondant decorations. Very professional. I was proud to display the cake at my daughter’s shower. Also, the price was reasonable. Thanks Sweets By Maggie!

Delicious cupcakes and a super friendly staff. We’ve enjoyed their gourmet flavors, gluten free days, and had an awesome Lightning McQueen cake made for our son’s bday. Try the buckeye cupcakes!

Great cakes, cupcakes, and other sweets. The owner is there to answer any questions and will design specialty cakes that are unique to your celebration. Expert fondant work, high creativity with a down home friendly staff that will make every time you stop seem like a special occasion.
Only downfall… I don’t think they charge near enough for these products. If I want a cupcake made from a mix or a pastry that starts the day frozen I’ll go to the local bakery. She needs to start charging more.
