Total Tan

This is the total tan location I frequent most because it is the closest location to my work. I come on my lunch break (30 minutes, boo!) and there’s never a line so I’m always in and out within enough time to get back to work! Whenever I’ve had questions about my billing, or the best deal, the best lotion, or the best bed to use– the staff always has great input and I am always satisfied with a choice they helped me make.
The reason I gave only 3 stars is because I do have a hard time getting tan here, it takes me almost a week of going daily to notice any difference. I have naturally pale skin, so that could account for it… but I have had friends who are more tan naturally than I am say the same thing.

Let me start off by saying that the customer service here is wonderful. Everyone at the front counter is always incredibly friendly and personable, so i bumped the rating up a star specifically for that. With that being said, the tanning beds themselves are terrible. You can tell that the bulbs are hardly ever changed. I came to this exact location 4 years ago, bought the same package at the same level, and used the same type of lotion. I ended up being SUPER tan by the end of it. This time around, not so much. I’ve even started using the booths which I didn’t use at all the last time, since my 2 month package is up next week and I’ve barely had any color difference. Very disappointing especially since tanning is not cheap.

Terrible. Dirty beds… and beware the automatic billing! My son tried to discontinue his and it took months to get them to stop…

This review pretty much applies to all Total Tans–
I haven’t been UV tanning since I was a teenager but I used to go to Total Tan for that and was always really happy with how clean it was and how helpful the staff is.
Now, I Mystic Tan, which is a UV-​free tan that goes on clear and appears 4 – 6 hours after «tanning.» I think it’s by far the best UV free tan available and I’m pretty sure that Total Tan is the only salon that’s invested in having it available in Buffalo. I never look orange, and it’s never streaky (and I also don’t get that «wow it’s really obvious that’s a fake tan» look). I’ve used it before my own wedding and every wedding I’ve stood up in afterwards and I always receive compliments.
If it’s your first Mystic, be sure to let whoever is working know and they will walk you through the process. There’s also a really detailed poster in the Mystic rooms.
The Mystic is pricier than regular tanning and other spray tans, but it’s absolutely worth it! Also, if you find yourself at a bridal show (or in the galleria during one), they usually have a table set up with coupons that make them more affordable!
