Awful. We were excited to try this after reading several good reviews on Unilocal. The service was friendly, but slow. The crab stuffed mushrooms were cold and under cooked. Then, the wait staff got both of our orders wrong. They ran out of salad dressing for the salad that was given… not the one we ordered, and the replacement dressing took 15 min to arrive. I returned my sandwich as it was tasteless and the fries were cold… and it was the wrong order anyway. Too bad.

This place is great! My sons had the baked ziti, salmon & chicken fingers. They loved it! I had the mahi mahi. Yum! Highly recommend this place!

Service was good, I love the sweet tea, the wings are crispy and the buffalo sauce is very good, the blue cheese sauce needs work, I got the French Dip and fries. The beef was tender and I like the bread, the jus was good. I could have used more in the bowl, the sandwich is a good portion and there wasn’t enough jus to finish the sandwich. The fries are fresh cut and very good.

This place is really cute! Came here while in town visiting on a weekend night with my fiancé and had no trouble getting a seat. it was a really cozy atmosphere. we started with salads and bread, both of which were extremely good. justin ordered the chicken marsala and said it was delicious and i had the crabcakes with sweet potato fries. the crabcakes had lots of crab and tasted really fresh and yummy. the fries were pretty after i doctored them up a bit. the atmosphere was great, food was great, we will definitely be coming back next time we’re in town!

Some long-overdue updates since out last review… Sadly, Travelers is no longer open for Sunday brunch due in part to the poor economy and competition from the nearby Briar Patch which is now open on Sunday(whose brunch, incidentally, doesn’t hold a candle to Travelers). And the prime rib which was a long-standing dinner special on Saturday is no longer being offered. However, the outstanding dry-rubbed ribs are still featured on alternating Saturdays. So if you want ‘em, it’s best to call to check that they’re making ‘em. That said, Travelers remains one of our go-to restaurants even if that means a drive from Lynchburg to Amherst. Put simply, the restaurant is charming: cozy dining rooms, well-conceived dishes, friendly service and lively, happy patrons. Without fail, the daily soups are excellent. We particularly enjoy the«White Trash Salad» which has a little of everything served over crisp greens(the balsamic vinaigrette dressing is delicious) when we seek lighter fare. And if we’re feeling hungry, the Chicken Marsala is consistently pleasing.
