My wife and I stayed at Halcyon Farms B&B for two days while attending a family wedding in the area. The B&B has a great history, dating back to the 1700’s, which is described in available reading material. Our room was thoughtfully decorated for the age of the home and the furnishings were very comfortable. Although the bathroom was a bit cramped by modern standards, it had all that we needed. Both mornings we were greeted with a scrumptious breakfast. Fresh strawberries grown on the farm along with buckwheat pancakes and french toast were very satisfying. We would certainly stay at Halcyon again if we find ourselves in the area.

Wonderful, caring hosts. We biked from Albany to Amsterdam in 95 degree heat and were fried. The diner we had planned on for dinner was closed. June, our host, found a pizza place who would deliver and we had dinner. We sat on the terrace and enjoyed our pizza. June offered us some ice cream for dessert. Our room was clean, spacious with AC and a flat screen TV. The bed was comfortable with reading lamps for both occupants. Breakfast was a buffet of French Toast, sausage, fruit salad, home made banana bread, coffe and tea. Perfect for cyclists. The grounds are lovely with beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. The Inn is full of antiques with samplers, a telescope that has been in the family for years. Finally John(June’s husband) offered to drive us up the first big hill in his truck. We were in better shape in the morning and made it under our own power.

I stayed here with a friend in September 2010 as a stop over on our way to Sharon Springs for the Harvest Festival, we stayed one night. We arrived later in the evening(around 9PM). We did not really see the grounds that night when we drove in. We had to ‘self check-in’ and found our room. We were pleasantly surprised at how great the room was. We had a wood burning stove, flat screen TV, huge bed with comfy bed linens, and a huge private bathroom. The next morning we woke up to the smells of breakfast. We made it out to the dining room and there was a delicious spread along with the owners serving us and making plenty if conversation. We really enjoyed it. After breakfast we took a walk around the property, WOW. It was amazing. The farm is so pretty and truly a great spot for leaf peeping. I can’t wait to go back next year!
