I’m in love of this place, the owner Carlitos, he is so nice and Rodrigo he looks kind of mean but he is a sweetheart!!!

Ooooohhhh why are Argentine markets so hard to find in SD?! I have to drive up to OC to get anything decent! Ooo well, it’s worth it! I’d been craving traditional Argentine Chimichurri sauce to go with homemade empanadas plus an Argentine snack food called, Sandwich D’Miga! I’d had them years ago and have always held an affinity for the thin, crust less, white bread little darlings. They look so simple yet aren’t so easy to mimic at home. Apparently the secrets in the bread that’s used! Anyway, they come in either boiled egg, tomato and egg, ham and cheese or peppers. Unfortunately I don’t seem to have a pic as I went to this market a few weeks ago but I’ll be back and will snap a few for y’all! I would have loved to try some of there hot dishes(empanadas, choripan, lomito, etc) in the café section of the market but I was in a hurry to beat traffic back down the 5!(We all know how that is!). I also grabbed a box of the Argentina sweet, Alfajors! SCORE!!!

Nice people, tasty appetizers and sausages. I did not have to ask for the sausa like the other one in Anaheim! Will probably come back when in the area.

I’m not sure what an authentic Empanada is supposed to taste like. What I do know is that these Empanadas are delicious. I’ve had commercially sold chimichurri(sp?) and the stuff this place supplies with the empanadas is great stuff. Lots of flavor and a beautiful melding of flavors. I wasn’t sure how many would be enough, so as a precaution I only ordered 2. I ordered a beef and a chicken, and I have to say, for me, I favor the chicken empanada better. I will fo’sho be returning to try other things. Having made the trip for lunch, they were very quick on service. They also show the Barca games when they play. The dining area gets a bit full & full of excitement. They also serve beer, which I imagine would be great with the empanadas. I opted for a Mexican Coke because I was on my lunch break.

Empanadas are really good. I have tried the beef, chicken and spinach. The beef and chicken were my favorite. I stumbled across this place and read the Unilocal reviews. I now buy them by the dozen. They are best with the cc sauce it kicks it up a notch.

Incredible empanadas sold here for $ 1.50 each. Don’t forget to drench each bite with their chimichurri. My hubby also likes their Lomito sandwich. Basically, it’s carne asada, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a yummy bread.

This place is way cool! The sandwiches are awesome. They make pizza here and it looks fantastic. They also have some other deli items that look great. The store is cool. They have various items from South America. I want to try all the different beers and sodas!!! I wonder what Inca Kola tastes like? I’ll try next time I visit.

I can resist to not stop in this place when I’m on the area the fresh pastries on breakfast are just so taste that I have to stop be and enjoy a couple of those with a fresh capuccino or even a hot tea. Peruvian Alfajores are one of the others thing that make come back everytime even just to get a package of 12 Alfajores that are on really affordable price. You can’t find them on the area. My friends always ask me if I’m on the area to get some for them you guys should definitely try them

A piece of Home, from empanadas, to queso mantecoso… alfajores… Just go on an empty stomach, have a choripan(sausage sandwich), or a lomito) meat sandwich) You can not only get Argentine products but products from other countries in South America. Great wine selection and way cheaper than a a winery or American store…

My boss who is south american recommended this place to me. I got a choripan and a sweet bread with a «capucinno». The choripan is a really large sandwhich with a slice of flat argentinean chorizo with mayo and tomato. It was really good. The empanadas are amazing and moderately sized. They have a variety of Argentinian products as well. The two ladies there are very sweet and they are very helpful. Overall they have great customer service and there food and sweets are delicious

Huge fan! Great empanadas, great specialty foods, meats, and bakery items! If you are in the mood for something new and exotic, this is a safe bet! Fine selection of wonderful argentine wine. Love it. Very helpful and friendly staff.

The beef empanadas and the entrana steak sandwich is out of this world! Especially when you have a small dollop of their house made chimichurri sauce. They do have a good selection of foods at their market. Their meat/butcher shop inside do carry marinated meats for sale but for $ 8.99/lb — I’d rather go somewhere else. Way too expensive. I’d come back here again.

Nice small market featuring fresh and canned, imported South American foods, a small butchery, and a small café. We came, looking for empanada dough. They had it in the freezer section. In fact they had multiple brands, and a house made brand as well. But after tasting their freshly baked empanadas from the café side, well… read on. The fresh meats looked quite nice. The short ribs were well marbled. They also had marinated flap meat and marinated chicken. It looked so great, we bought some for our next bbq. I also discovered that they do carry conchita, a Peruvian popcorn that is delightful to make at home, and also packages of lady fingers, something we hunt long and hard for in our area around the holidays. Success here! The empanadas were the only downside. We decided to indulge in some hot empanadas from the café side. We bought a dozen for around $ 15 and brought them home in a small pizza box. Not only were the ground beef ones bad, the filling was beyond inedible. They have been tossed. Fortunately, the chicken ones(with hard boiled egg, green olive and veggies) were far better. There are additional fillings, but we did not try them. I was not in love with the dough either, it was neither sweet nor flakey, two characteristics I have grown to expect. I would have to assume they used their own dough, so no, I would not buy their brand from the market side. I have recently found a superb rendition of the well known picadillo ones that exceeds in both pastry and filling at the restaurant, El Pollo Kri-ollas in my hometown of Corona. I have to admit, they have spoiled me forever. No comparison, I would not consider El Gaucho’s nor suggest them to anyone else.

This a great little Argentinian market where you can find a variety of South And Central American products that you can’t find at your everyday markets. They have a carneceria, fresh made sweets, selections of wines, and a place to eat some empanadas. I have not tried the food they make there yet but I will definitely have to give it a try. One thing I always have to leave with in hand is Turron de Yema! This is a sweet made from egg yolk which I have been having since a little girl and absolutely love!!! Everyone that works there is super friendly. They accept debit as well so if you don’t carry cash it’s okay. The store is open until 7pm so not too late. The sucky thing is the parking. It’s behind the store and it’s pretty dark and alone back there so I’m always on the look out especially at night.

The Argentinian Meat Market. An essential component of your grilling arsenal, so think about this when you’re having a back yard BBQ. If you partake in their deli and meat section at El Gaucho Meat Market, you’ll get some positive feedback for the Ranchera Preparada(marinated beef flap meat) and Chorizo Argentino(argentine sausage). Freshly prepared and ready to purchase, walk around this store and take advantage of all the other goodies that are available. I promise that there’s something to your liking here. It’s World Cup 2014, the host country being Brazil, and you know very well that Argentinians are going to be knee high in soccer. These days, they have soccer track jackets of various countries, proudly displayed on the wall for sale, with TV’s reminding us that Fútbol is going to get really popular in the US soon. Sorry, we’re kinda behind on that. Hard core Latin American soccer fans get awfully hungry and they know Argentinian Sandwiches like the Choripán(grilled sausage), Entraña(grilled steak), and Chivito(goat meat), wrapped in a toasty French roll and smothered with chimichurri sauce(green sauce consisting of chopped parsley, minced garlic, olive oil, oregano, vinegar) are one of the best subs around. Outrageously delicious mi amigo. EMPANADA Stuffed pastry that’s baked at this location, whereas some are fried in many countries of the world. Being baked is better my friends. They’re made by folding dough around stuffing, which usually consists of a variety of meat, cheese, or vegetable. In the past, they didn’t appeal to me as much, but each time I try them, they just get better and better. They got Beef, Chicken, Spinach, Tuna, and the best Ham & Cheese Empanadas in Orange County, according to some. Grab your favorite can of Latin American soda pop(Colombiana, Guarana, Postobon, Inca) and lunch will never become boring. There’s another El Gaucho Meat Market in Redondo Beach, with this second location close to the 57 Freeway, in between Lincoln & Wagner, on State College Blvd. I really recommend that you try some form of food that they serve or sell here. I kid you not, it’s very appealing, even for a novice like me.
