while the selection of pan dulce isn’t as extensive as other places the quality is good. they never seem to run out of fresh baked goodies. but the real reason why this place is good. the tamales. they only have the choice of chicken or pork, but they’re legit. the pork tamales… yum. large, spicy, and tender. if you don’t want to make your own, and usually most people don’t since it’s a process to make, stop by here. they do run out relatively quickly. there’s no telling when they’ll have any. they might be a bit pricey compared to other places though, not sure what you may be used to paying, but i bought 14 tamales and it came out to $ 18 + tax. and i’m used to paying less than $ 5 for the pan dulce but i usually end up paying a little more for a handful, so that’s kind of a bummer. either go there really early to grab some tamales for later or stop by mid afternoon. they don’t’ have any sweet tamales, so that’s a bit disappointing. the chicken one’s aren’t spicy and are a bit plain, but try both, if you can. but again, they run out fast. and if they do happen to run out of tamales. like i said, they’re pan dulce is still good so just grab a tray and tongs and pick out what you want.

i actually took 2 business cards so i could have the correct address for when i wrote a review here and now i can’t find them LOL i do know that if you are coming from lincoln avenue, it will be on your right side right before orange avenue. ok, so now all that is done… THISPLACEISGREAT!!! we’ve passed by this panderia [mexican bakery] at least 20x and i’ve commented every time that i need to try their tamales. their window art says, «TAMALESEVERYDAY». well, today was our lucky day. after dropping off the kids at school and it being our day off from work, we pulled in to the parking lot at about 815am. the minute i got out of the car, my nose was tickled by sweet goodness. we walk in to the tiny shop but their display cases were FULL of mexican breads and sweets. there were racks full of breads and sweets as well, i’m assuming they were cooling down. i immediately chose a horn shaped [ha! i can’t think of any other way to describe it] bun full of cream. we also bought 2 chicken tamales and 2 pork tamales. the bag it was put into was STEAMING! i would’ve liked to save it for lunch but couldn’t resist the freshness and we ate it for breakfast. it was delicious and not greasy! A+++++++++++++++ as for my bun, it was delicious, so fresh, flaky and the cream was a thick sort of pudding — not custard but close. you have to try it out but get their early!!!
