SUMMARY: I have been taking the cross training kickboxing classes at FIE. I am just going into my second month and honestly I have already seen results! My cardio and stamina has improved a lot. I started classes at FIE as a pretty fit person but the classes still managed to kick my butt and at the end of each session I have sweated gallons! It also got me over my plateau(which I am extremely grateful for!) and started to shred off the fat again. THETRAINER: Beto Ibarra is a pretty awesome trainer w/a background in MMA. What I enjoy about working out with Beto is that he is willing to get to know the people he trains better — not only in their physical abilities but also how they are as people in order to better encourage and motivate them. Beto can be pretty tough during the workout session though. Just fair warning now, he does not give breaks! You take breaks as needed but don’t think you can take too long and think he won’t notice. Overall, he has been one of the better trainers I have had. CLASSSESSIONS: Most of the time, the class sizes are fairly small. Sometimes I can be the only one working out that day(Which is fine by me). FIE Is just starting up, so it is expected that it is small. Like all gyms/workout facilities — everyone is also on different fitness levels. Also everyone here are of different ages however the classes are predominately females. THEFACILITY/EQUIPMENT: The classes are currently being held behind Grace OC Church inside the spare warehouse. Though it might seem like a strange local for a work out facility, it is overall cleaned and maintained. There are 5 – 6 heavy bags hung up for all of your punching/kicking needs and they’re fairly new too. And of course, there are plenty of clean floor space to do a variety of workouts on. As for washrooms, there are a women’s and men’s bathroom that always seem to be super clean. **Update: I discovered that there’s a shower’s in the men’s bathroom. So, yes — you could shower if you wanted to. Also, Beto has some spare 14 oz. boxing gloves for use during his classes and spare hand wraps as well. I personally bring my own handwraps at least, but if you’re worried about not having boxing gloves(especially if you’re just starting out) no worries, he’s got some for you to borrow. OVERALL: Honestly, I’m pretty happy with how things are at FIE. For me, it’s a great, fun, and cheap way to incorporate some cardio into my weekly workout routine. That and I get to learn something new. It’d be nice to see some new faces at the classes, but FIE is just starting up. I’m not complaining. I’m here to work on myself.
