Georgia’s should be on your mind the next time you visit the packing district. I came here on a fairly unbusy friday. The daily special was fried chicken and waffles but I tried the tri tip sandwich anyways, which was pretty good serves up on fresh veggie chibata bread with a solid aoili and a side of garlic fries. Service was super fast and they give you a buzzer in case you want to wander off. One of the things I really like about the packing district is that you can come with a group and each get your own thing from one of the many different restaurants and then regroup. Georgia’s helpful servers know this and asked me in advance whether I would be eating there or elsewhere to make carrying my food easier. Overall, the food was good and service was fast. It was a bit pricy, but that’s part of the equation for the packing district.

Got my order to go. Fried Chicken $ 10.95(leg and 2 thighs) Herb seasoned dark meat w/buttermilk cornmeal crust — It was a different take for me, than traditional flour batter, I liked the leg, but the thighs were not to my liking. Parts of the thigh that contained fat were yuck, making only part of the piece edible. This seasoning on the chicken seems different than on the fish probably the meat(duh), even though they have similar batter/crust. Al fin, I think I will stick to flour coated chicken. Fried Catfish 3 pieces, $ 14.95 Farm raised, 9oz, seasoned cornmeal crust — I think because it was to go order the fish was soggy not crispy like I wanted, but the taste was a bit bland. Added some salt & it helped some, but probably wouldn’t order this again. It will do in a pinch if you really want some fried fish. Probably better for restaurant dining. Georgia’s House salad, $ 6.95 Spring mix, red onions, Roma tomatoes, candied pecans with Raspberry Walnut dressing. — This salad was very fresh, nice crunch with pecans and the dressing was sweet/tart adding a flavor burst on my pallet I enjoyed immensely. Would order again. Portion size two could eat, but I would order one salad per person. Collard Greens — I liked them. Good flavor, tender. They were made with smoked turkey. Portion size, for one only. Black Eye Peas — They had good flavor, a little thick, but still good. Portion size, for one only. Garlic Rice — it was not very garlic flavored, texture of sticky rice. Portion size, You could share but most would want a extra side. Corn on the Cobb –I don’t think this was fresh but edible 2 half pieces doused in liquid butter, good portion size for sharing Peach Cobbler — $ 6.95 ‚à la mode $ 1.50($ 8.45 total) This by far was my favorite. Not just because we all love dessert but because the crust to fruit to syrup ratio was spot on. Ice cream was additional piece of love, but for a $ 1.50, I would spend a couple of extra dollars and buy my own and have more than a scoop! This is a large portion so two could definitely share! I WILLGIVETHISPLACEANOTHERTRY, WITHTHEDINEINOPTION. BUTFORNOW… 2 stars is what I think*

Was craving the catfish when I was here last. Finally ordered it with coleslaw and my go to collard greens. Was not surprised with the crunch of the corn meal coating and the moist fish.(Mouth watering)! Wife had what I ordered last time, the fried chicken. Next visit will either be the Jambalaya or ribs or chicken salad or… Decisions!!!

Visited some friends out in OC and they took me to Anaheim’s Packing District — a 2 story food court with unique eateries, brews, confections, desserts and more. After perusing through all the kiosks, I ended up at Georgia’s, craving some good soul food eats. I ordered the fried chicken w/mac and cheese and garlic fried rice. My friend ordered the pulled pork sliders and garlic fries. All were great. Mac and cheese was cheesy, garlic fried rice had a good touch of garlic a bit of butter, but not too overwhelming. The fried chicken was delicious… not so oily, very juicy and breaded and seasoned just right. The best thing about the visit was their service. Within the 30 minute stay in their seating area, we were greeted by a manager, offered drink refills 3 – 4 times by 2 different staff members, and the owner Gretchen even came out to box our take home items. She insisted in placing our left over corn bread, chicken and mac n’ cheese in the perfect containers for us. While packing our food in the containers, she began to tell us the history of Georgia’s– named after her husband George and took letters out of each of her daughters names to complete… «Georgia». Talking to Gretchen made us feel like we were at home, eating at the dinner table with one of our elders reminiscing on stories of the past. I’m looking forward to my next visit to Georgia’s. What I saw but didn’t get a chance to try was their Peach Sangria’s. That’s definitely on my list for the next run!

Yum!!! This was quite a surprise as I didn’t expect too much from this restaurant as when I look at the menu they seemed to be tackling everything from sandwiches to salads to main dishes and I couldn’t quite understand the theme, though I would guess it was some sort of Southern Comfort Food theme based on the main dishes. The place is located in the Packing House on the top floor towards the back, past the waffle place. I had the smothered pork chops and they tasted amazing! The pork chops were very well cooked and tasted great, but it was the excellent cream sauce on top that really made the dish excellent. It was slightly sweet and creamy and had a pleasant taste that really brought out the flavor of the pork while not completely overpowering it. The bacon bits also added a kick to the overall cream taste. It just tasted great! The side dishes were big passes though, I had the macaroni and cheese and the mashed potatoes and they were not that good. Maybe I chose the wrong sides though and they make their other sides better, but these sides were really boring and felt uninspired compared to the excellence of the pork.

Since it’s my first time here at the Anaheim Packing District, we had to make rounds to see what’s good. So it turned out to be Georgia’s Restaurant as the first food stop, and for starters I was quite impressed with it. I didn’t want to have something with too much to eat. So, I went with their«Chili Cheese Fries» $ 7.95. It’s topped with homemade chili w/lean ground beef & black beans. The crispy French fries tasted like they were baked, because they were not greasy and its seasoned to add to the tastiness. I’m not a fan of black beans but there wasn’t as many within the chili. It does have the chunkiness from the ground beef. As a sometimes grease spooner fanatic like myself. These weren’t typical sloppy Chili Cheese Fries. The portions were in decent amounts and I liked seeing more cheese than chili being all over the plate. It was definitely homemade style and it was really good. At $ 3.45 I recommend a chilled Coke in a bottle to go with your order to compliment that Southern feel.

I like this fast casual dining kind of thing… not too much waiting, food was tasty, and a good menu list to chose on. I had the Smothered Pork Chops… hand tossed with bacon gravy… ahhh it’s really a comfort food. Wish I got the rice for side which I’m sure will go well with that gravy. I’m Asian! Boyfriend got the fried catfish with mashed potatoes and red beans. He enjoyed it. Definitely will go back and try their other comfy food… but would be nice if the complimentary cornbread came out first

There’s a lot of heavy food at the APD and I was looking for something a little less fried or swimming in cream sauce. I went for something simple and it was decent. I went for a grilled chicken sandwich was on a brioche bun which gave it a nice sweetness, but there wasn’t any seasoning on the chicken. The fries were awesome and garlicky in taste but they were like tiny fry nibbles. It seemed like I probably got the leftover fries from the bottom of the bag. Maybe it was on purpose cause they try and put the fries into a little bowl? Anyway, the sweet tea was a biiiit too sweet and tasted of sugar cane, but I was satisfied for the most part with everything.

I was craving fried chicken all weekend, and thought oo0o0o0 Georgia might have good fried chicken? maybe? No… pe. I seen that they had a special which was chicken and waffles, the picture had good looking fried chicken but the waffle looked thin and card board like so i just ordered the fried chicken with 2 sides of collard greens. The meal consisted of a chicken thigh and chicken drum. The batter was corn meal, very crispy it was, but it was flavorless. 5 stars on the juiciness of the fried chicken. Greens with bacon, it was not cooked down enough and the flavor wasn’t there once again. Pretty disappointed and left unsatisfied.

I would not consider this place soul food at all. Maybe Southern or American. It took forever to get my order in and it wasn’t even busy when we went. I ordered a tri-tip sandwich and it was«artisian» I suppose. I expected BBQ sauce or something but it came with pesto sauce and mayo, arugula and tomato. I upgraded my fries to garlic fries for an extra dollar. The sandwich was good but I could have received more meat for the price. The garlic fries were so food and the garlic was fresh. My breath was stinky for the rest of the day. That’s good garlic. For the price I do except better and it really wasn’t what I was hoping. It was good but whatever.

Everything looked amazing on their menu! I ended up ordering: 1. Garlic Fries($ 3.95) — fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned with fresh minced herb garlic: P 2. Louisiana Tilapia & Shrimp($ 14.95) — spicy grilled tilapia, shrimp, tomato creole sauce, served w/rice; fish was cooked perfectly but was a bit too salty for me; overall a good portion and flavorful

First time here — wanted to try some soul food and this place has pretty good reviews. I quickly found out why. The portions are big and I don’t think it is pricey for what you get. We opted to dine in their private patio instead of eating in the common area of the Packing District. Since we did this, they gave us complimentary corn bread. I ordered the Smothered pork chops with mac n cheese and garlic fries. The chops were tender and the gravy was so yummy! The garlic fries were crisp and flavorful and comes with a side of ranch. The mac and cheese was great too, not too salty which was perfect for me. My hubby ordered the half rack of ribs with coleslaw and seasonal veggies. I tried a bite of the ribs and it was quite delish. Fall off the bone tender with bbq sauce. My kid tried their Chicken and Waffle Special. I didn’t try it, but he said the chicken was moist and juicy, and skin was crispy and it tasted good. Nothing was left on his plate so I must assume it was good. I will definitely be back here. Staff was friendly and food was great!

Georgia’s was on the top of my list for new places to try because the last time I was at the packing house I really wanted to try their fried chicken but they told me I wouldn’t be able to sit at the dining tables because they were closing in an hour. We decided to come by another time and try their famous soul food We came back and ordered their fried chicken with fries, corn, Mac and cheese and their potato salad. The food took quite some time to come out even though we were the only people there. The Mac and cheese is very creamy and very very much comfort food. The potato salad was potato salad and the corn was your basic corn. It is drowned in butter and the salt isn’t evenly distributed it’s just clumped up in the middle of the corn. The fried chicken… I really wanted to like it. I kept telling myself it was good the entire time I tried to finish it. I ate a piece and was already tired of it. I tried to take a bite of the second piece and dipped it in the gravy and felt instantly nauseous. I guess it’s my fault for picking the fried chicken as my entrée. The gravy is pretty good though. Lots of chicken and bacon chunks in it but also very oily and hard to eat a lot of. If I ever return to Georgia’s I hope to try something better maybe the ribs or ill do my research and see what’s good here. Would not order the fried chicken even if they paid me.

Good southern food located inside the«Anaheim Packing House.» They have Salads, Starters, Sandwiches, Bowls, & Plate Specials. My wife and I shared the Tri-Tip steak salad and Pull Pork sandwich accompanied by a peach sangria. You start off by placing your order and then paying for your food. The staff member will give you a number and you can sit either outside or inside. Don’t be fooled by the«reserved» sign at the tables. It’s reserved for YOU! Lol, it fooled a couple of people while we were there. The food did not take long. The salad came out first and the pull pork sandwich shortly after. The side of fries were crispy and HOT! Just like I like them. I tried to pick up the sandwich and eat it with my hands, but that failed. The sandwich is so packed with pork, it falls off the sides. I had to eat it with a fork. The meat in the salad was also delicious. It was juicy and tender. I liked the fact that I did not struggle chewing it. It has great flavor and went well with the fruit and veggies. The peach sangria was good. Personally it could have used a little more alcohol, but it was fine. The alcohol and sugar had a good balance to it.

I think I have found a go-to favorite whenever I come to Anaheim Packing House! After passing by this place during last weekend’s visit, we decided to come try it out for dinner last night before redeeming our Dark 180 Groupon deal for dessert. I wasn’t really expecting much at first, especially since everything on the menu looked like it was typical Southern type food and barbecue. But oh how I was so so very wrong! A plate up meal of the Fried Chicken was able to satisfy the hunger of not just one but TWO people, and all for the cost of less than $ 12! Fried Chicken: You know that tenderness you get from ribs after letting it smoke for hours on end until the meat easily comes off the mofo bones? That’s the exact type of tenderness you can expect when you bite into their fried chicken! Not only was every single piece so tender, but every bite was consistently undeniably juicy. To top it all off, these bad boys are coated with a crunchy, but not so heavy, cornmeal coating which makes it some of the best fried chicken I have honestly ever had! Cajun Cole Slaw: You’ll be asked upon requesting the cole slaw if you want it regular or Cajun style. I’m not sure how the standard slaw is, but if you’re a fan of cole slaw I highly recommend trying out the Cajun slaw. It isn’t over seasoned or overwhelming in taste as sometimes Cajun food can get, but there’s just enough to get your taste buds going and distinguish itself from any other slaw you’ve had. Best part is, the amount of sides they give you here at Georgia’s puts places like Popeye’s and KFC to shame! Garlic French Fries: You won’t see these on the menu per se, but if you request for your fries to be garlic fries, they will most certainly oblige. Their fries are more on the thinner side to what I’m usually used to… but that’s perfectly alright, because my God are they crispy and full of garlic flavor! Even the ones that were near the bottom and more on the«soggy» side we’re still so damn good! Corn Bread: At first glance, you’ll probably wonder«these are the smallest cornbread pieces I have ever seen.» However, once you rub that butter on and dive into your first bite, you’ll be surprised at how much awesomeness a small piece of cornbread can pack! Pro Tip: If you’re lucky enough to get a seat at one of their tables, forget ordering the corn bread as a side; they’ll come around your table and drop off COMPLIMENTARY cornbread! What’s even more awesome is, you can always ask for more too if you get just as addicted to them as we did.

Very tender, sweet ribs. Meat was falling off the bones. I prefer ribs with a little kick, but these were good. Their Mac and cheese was very tasty as well. Probably some of the best I’ve ever had– not soupy/liquidy and pasta wasn’t mushy. I don’t care for collard greens, so can’t really say much about those. The owner was a really friendly guy and came up to us to ask us how it all turned out. The workers were also friendly and happy to provide suggestions on what to order. Good southern style bbq! Give it a try!

It’s rare nowadays to find restaurants where the cook/owner personally serves the guests(Unless you’re at some fancy expensive place). This is what makes Georgia’s unique compared to other places! You get the soul food along with southern comfort from Georgia herself! She is the cutest old lady ever serving customers and bussing tables as the owner. While the line was long at pop bar, we made our way over to Georgia’s to get some grub. They’re located upstairs next to Han’s ice cream which is convenient. Here are the items we got: Fried Chicken — Dark meat chicken w/a cornmeal crust. I liked that the chicken wasn’t greasy, but the cornmeal crust was something new to me. The texture was a bit gritty and although it was crunchy, it was different than the normal batter i’m used to. Not that it was a bad thing, just different. I got the cole slaw and corn bread as sides. Cole slaw was just ok, kind of bland. The corn bread was good! Especially with honey and butter :) BBQ Ribs — Pricewise not bad, but the ribs weren’t as tender as I was hoping. The texture seemed like it had been cooked in a crockpot, not that nice bbq smoky grill flavor I’m looking for. Not the best ribs I’ve had. The mac n cheese accompanied with the corn on the cob was ok I don’t think I would be going out of my way to come here, but if lines are too long for other restaurants in packing district then I would drop by.

I’ve been here a couple of times and have always gotten the fried chicken plate, which comes with 2 sides and a small cornbread. When I say small, I mean small. The cornbread isn’t really anything too special, although I do like the butter that it comes with! The fried chicken is good and different. The seasoning is nice & crunchy, but it has a unique taste to it. The meat itself is good and does not come across as too greasy. In terms of the sides, the mac & cheese is the bomb. I could eat that stuff up all day long! The baked beans, however, has too much of «something» in it — some type of spice that is over-bearing. My suggestion is to ease up on that spice, whatever it is, because all I could taste was that. I took 2 bites of the baked beans and couldn’t finish the rest. The service is always friendly. One time I got there right at 11am when they open, and hate to wait about 20 minutes for the corn bread. That was a bit of a turn off, as they should’ve been ready to go when they open. They have a decent sized space inside the Anaheim Packing District. The price is a little on the high side, but I assume it’s because of where they are located. I’ve seen the founder, Georgia, herself behind the counter, greeting the customers and working in the trenches right alongside her team, which is really cool. Overall I’d give this a 3.5 but since we can’t rate on the half, I’d round it up to a 4.
