John Marshall Park

I notice this park has 4 stars but it only has two reviews so that explains it. My son has been having baseball practices here twice a week. On the plus side the park has lights and a baseball field which is great for evening practices when it’s not daylight savings. It has a pretty big field of grass which I notice soccer games are played and other practices are done. There is a play area that’s fairly big but not lit up at night. Its not useless so thats why it’s at least 2 stars.
However, now for the bad stuff I’ve noticed is too many! When I arrive in the afternoon I notice a lot of different homeless people around. There is a usual van parked that you can tell the owner lives in. These aren’t your friendly care to homeless. These are your arguing, cussing, raunchy, drug using homeless. I’ve had an occasion where they are arguing and cussing loudly. The bathrooms are dark and gross. There isn’t a door on the stall so beware of lookers. The bathroom is crowded with bums and around the planters there is all there belongings. I have found a bright purple bra just thrown by the dugout. Obviously doesn’t belong to the boys and I’ve seen a tip that people are doing the nasty. This wouldn’t surprise me.
I wouldn’t be alone or have your kids be alone at this park. Especially going to the restroom. Maybe it’s better during the day but still risky!

Love this park! It feels safe even with the few homeless (they’re very too them selves and just trying to get by) at most hours of the day and night (though you can get other random people who seem sketchy past 10pm)
Only thing is it’s a very normal park so my runs do get a little repetitive and boring with no scenery to look at but that’s just a minor side note. Grateful for this park!

It’s a neighborhood park. Nothing special. But, I have a lot of great memories here from taking my kids (and the neighborhood kids) to this park… many years ago. Now, it’s time to start taking my granddaughter!
This park has a playground for small kids. A climbing center with slides and swings. The park also has two baseball diamonds, an outside basketball court and a large grassy area for soccer. What more could you ask for!
The memories are PRICELESS!
