Mariachi Anacatlan

I have never given a bad review on anything or anyone, but this is necessary. My husband and I wanted a Mariachi for our wedding ceremony and for dinner at reception. We came across Mariachi Anacatlan on the internet and read a few good reviews. We called them and they told us we were able to go listen to them at their office/​school before deciding on a contract. My husband and I went to listen to them, and they played great and it sounded beautiful. We made the contract for 3 hours. One hour for ceremony and two for reception. Which was also not cheap ($ 450/​hr) for what they ended up doing to us. Our wedding day was approaching and we were not able to contact these people. Oh well. The wedding day arrives, ceremony was at 2:30pm and no sign of any Mariachi. As im getting ready to walk down the aisle about 2:45pm, Mariachi is barely getting ready to play. But guess what? IT WAS NOT MARIACHI ANACATLAN! We had no idea who this Mariachi was. Our wedding coordinator told us the Mariachi from previous ceremony was able to stay for ours at no cost so that we had some music to play. Ok so that happened! Reception, 5:00pm. Mariachi was late. It was Mariachi Anacatlan this time, but guess what? They brought students from their school to play with them. They were new. And sounded extremely unprofessional and uncoordinated. They were all lost! They were definitely not the Mariachi we hired! They sounded bad. Not the Mariachi we listened to when we first made the contract. The 2 hours came up, and the owner of the group, did not hesitate one minute to charge us for remaining balance. IN FRONT OF OUR GUESTS! Yes. They are so unprofessional. I asked what had happened at Church why they weren’t there and they gave me the worst excuse possible. They booked two events and they had to rush to ours. Hello, what the heck do you do contracts for in the first place if you’re going to miss customers’ events and he could just care less. Anyway, we will not be hiring them again, and definitely do not recommend them. Good luck!

I enrolled my son in private classes and some youth program classes prior to joining the RYTHMO Mariachi Academy (aka Mariachi Anacatlan); those programs were packed and except for one or two gimmicky tunes, he really wasn’t learning to play. This academy, and the members of Mariachis Anacatlan, devote their time to truly passing on, not just the music, but the culture that originated it. They teach musicality & rhythm and encourage kids to attend and perform at different events; which incredibly enough, has had an amazing impact on his self esteem! Even his teachers at school have noticed (and commended) the improvement in his school/​academic work/​presentations. My son does not speak Spanish, but the immersion in the program has opened up possibilities. The musicians and staff truly care about their art and more so about the children that they are passing it to. A previous review states that they «aren’t that great», the point of Mariachi Anacatlan is to pass on and expose kids and young adults to the Art of Mariachi music both at the academy as well as at performances. Every group has a bad gig every now and then, but the heart and the spirit of the program is beyond «GREAT».

This is a mariachi group that performs all over, and also has a school for mariachi musicians. The location is a little hard to find, and is very run down.
However, the quality of instruction is good. The instructors tend to be rough on students, but they have high standards for students to reach. My son has been in tears more than once, which is hard to take.
They do know their history and classic songs, and are a family act and with family instruction.

These guys are worthless. I tried to hire them for an event, but they never answered the phone. DON’T USE THEM!

I hired Mariachi Anacatlan to play at my 40^th birthday party and I was very pleased with the group. They arrived early and came into the party playing «Las Mananitas» which I loved. They were very professional and interacted well with the guests. There were a few songs they did not know but overall they were wonderful. I had an issue getting ahold of them to confirm but that was cleared up. They were very accommodating. The females singers were wonderful and add a special touch. Our guests were delighted! I would definitely hire them again.

Very professional group who were very entertaining. They showed up on time and played for the two hours they were hired for. I read the OLD review from Maria L. and it sounds to me like a simple misunderstanding between multiple parties that was blown out of proportion. That never happens at a wedding, right? Ha! One of the things I enjoyed the most about Mariachi Anacatlan was their interaction with attendees at the party and their great sense of humor they displayed. It really added to the festive atmosphere.

A very entertaining & talented group of musicians. Would highly recommend them for any event.
