Mint Julep Bar

Mint Julep Bar provides a yummy snack break while you’re at Disneyland. Who can resist cute Micky Mouse shaped food?! They already won me over with the cute factor! We got 3 Micky shaped beignets ($ 4.49) and a mint julep ($ 3.59) and it was the perfect amount to share between two people. The beignets could have been served warmer but overall still yummy. I enjoyed the mint julep a lot — it was just the refreshing pick me up that we needed. Its a great snack spot to fuel up again while at Disneyland.

Quick Tips:
1. The Mint Julep Bar is famous for, you guessed it, the Mint Julep.
2. They are also famous for having mickey mouse shaped beignets!
Located just around the corner, at an almost barely noticeable entrance in the New Orleans Square, the Mint Julep is kind of harder to find. But, we weren’t looking for the drink in particular, we were looking for the beignets that Disneyland is so famous for.
There are two options for purchase, a 3 pack and a 5 pack. The 3 pack is more than enough to feed two, but the chef made a mistake in our favor and gave us 4 on accident. The beignets, in my opinion, were a little underwhelming. The flavor is okay, but it doesn’t remind me of some beignets that I’ve had that are basically melt into thin air when it’s in your mouth soft. The powdered sugar is quite caked on, it sort of flies out of the bag slowly if you just look at it in the sunlight and it gets all over the place if you’re not careful. All in all, the beignets based on flavor were just okay. It’s a nice value though at less than $ 6, so at least that’s going for it!

Aaahhh Mint Julep! How can such a small little snack place bring so much deliciousness! I couldn’t wait to try their Mint Julep drink and their Beignets, and when I did I was hooked!
They are the perfect snack to enjoy while relaxing outside the French Market. We sat near the pond where we could listen to the music coming from the Mark Twain Riverboat. We watched the ducks come and go, all while enjoying our refreshing minty drink. The drink is refreshing, not too sweet or too minty. The Mickey Beignets are like a hollow doughnut covered in powdered sugar. They sell them in 3 or 6 Mickey Beignets. We went for the 3 since we had planned to go have dinner at Carnation Café later that day.
WARNING: The powder sugar on the Beignets will get all over you, no matter how careful you are! Also, be ready for the long line, it moves pretty quickly though.

Lookin’ for a little something that’ll quench your thirst while at the Park?
Well, if you’re wandering around New Orleans Square and working your way behind the French Market Restaurant, you’ll find the Mint Julep Bar. Having been to Disneyland hundreds of times (and I mean that literally), I’d never before noticed this hidden pocket of deliciousness. I mean, it’s tiny. Serving also Mickey-​shaped Beignets (3– and 6-​packs) and a variety of iced and/​or hot lattes, cappuccinos, espressos, and mochas, this little bar had exactly what I didn’t know I was in the mood for: New Orleans Mint Juleps!
Lime-​flavored, cherry-​topped, and mint-​intensified, these refreshing cool-​downs really hit the spot. Siding with tradition, a shot of bourbon – and a silver, Mickey-​eared souvenir cup! – would have been Fantasmic!, but then the Julep’s queue would have required a Fast Pass, I imagine. Nevertheless, this little nook will become a new regular of mine, a refreshing little diversion from the crowds and the heat.

Even though this is a nice respite from the heat. Their Kool-​aid inspired mint julep is pretty pathetic (and were not talking symphony 6 by Tchaikovsky).
None the less the real estate is good here… and you can just chillax here for a bit.
Come for the view but don’t stay for the drinks

Although the cuteness overload of a Mickey Mouse shaped beignet allows for a perfect ‘I’m taking a yummy bite of my dessert’ photo op, the taste of them leaves you feeling MEH and that you wasted a few calories. I feel like it wasn’t worth the wait of the line (although not too terrible of a wait) and that I would have been more satisfied bringing in a donut from somewhere outside of the park. The beignet’s just were not as fluffy and pillowy as I would have imagined. Maybe mine were not fresh out of the oven fresh (although I think they were). I guess I imagined them to be more scrumdiddly since they «appear» so delish.

Funny enough, was not a fan of the Mint Julep at first sip. Really thought it tasted like mint mouthwash. Then as I began to taste more of the lime, it was refreshing and quickly grew on me.
The Beignets? Amazing. I actually didn’t even plan on trying them but thought why not, and they were delicious! Great treats before waiting in line for Pirates!

Found this yummy little surprise hidden behind New Orleans square area in Disneyland.
Mickey shaped scones dusted in powder sugar, called begnoits. The mint julep is a tasty, refreshing drink that will surprise your tastebuds and beg you to return again and again!

Our last snack & drink @ Disneyland for 2016: my favorite dessert and his favorite drink.
Beignet: simple, pillowy, carb goodness, covered in sweet snowy powder sugar. You can get either 3 pieces ($ 4.49) or 6 pieces ($ 7.49), depending on your appetite. The beignet is shaped into Mickey ears. I like biting the ears first… I am an ear girl *ahem*
Mint julep ($ 3.59): minty lime drink, served with maraschino cherries and mint leaves on a tiny stick. I remember I didn’t really care for this drink at first. This refreshing drink kinda grew on me after a while. It is a perfect thirst quencher during a hot Disney day or after screaming at the top of your lungs. Damn Haunted Mansion jk.

Mint Julep Bar is yummylicious!

Yummy beignets! I’ve always heard about the Mickey Mouse beignets; and it was a little hard to find this location! Mint Julep is hidden on the left side in front of the train station in New Orleans Square at Disneyland! For ~$ 8 you can get 6 Mickey Mouse shaped Beignets and for $ 4.50 you can get 3!
A tip: they put the Mickey Mouse beignets with powdered sugar in a white bag; to get the most flavor: close the top of the white bag and shake it so that the powered sugar can evenly be spread!
Great snack while at Disneyland !

These beignets are nothing like Café Du Monde! Too doughy, and not fluffy or puffy! They’re just cutely shaped like Mickey Mouse. The best parts were the bussing staff (friendly, quick and clean), and it was a nice shady place to get some rest.
Not sure if the quality here differs from Café Orleans, which had a 45-​minute wait. Do NOT stop by Mint Julep Bar for beignets!

DELICIOUS BEIGNETS!
I love the peppermint ones they have around Christmas time and also the original plain beignets! They have always been super fresh, warm, sweet, and perfectly soft when I get them. They also have pumpkin ones around Halloween time but I don’t like these as much because the dough always tastes kind of weird, I would still eat them but not as fast as I eat the peppermint ones: D They always give you more powdered sugar than you need so I be sure to powder every bite of a beignet that I take. Service is sometimes a little slow but thats bound to be seen anywhere in the Disneyland Parks. Mint Julip drink is also good but pricey for what just tastes like mint, sprite, and lemonade mixed together. But overall, I highly recommend the beignets!

The Mickey beignets are so cute, comes with lots of powder sugar. Started coughing from all the sweetness haha shouldve wore a bib from the mess. I had a mint julep at the blue bayou a while back but it was also too sweet. Maybe if I haven’t had any sugar in a long time then it wouldn’t be a problem. But since there are a lot of of it, it might be a good idea it keep the sugar levels to a balance. If you wanna have unique sweets, New Orleans has it and rmbr like a lot of other rides, there maybe a line sigh…

Came by and got some of their beignets and a latte. The latte was made in a machine and didn’t come anywhere close to tasting like a latte. They might as well have poured some latte powder in a cup and mix it with milk (which is what they essentially did). The beignets are shaped into cute Mickey heads with powdered sugar which is messy to eat but I’d rather have something more hearty like a donut or a croissant.

The Mint Julep Bar, surprisingly enough, is still unknown to some. I make a point to get one anytime I go to Disneyland and show the people I’m with where it is. The line sometimes runs slow but the mint julep is such a refreshing drink, I think it’s worth it. It doesn’t weigh you down/​coat your mouth the way that the Dole floats do. They also have coffee and beignets (which are pretty good too) sold at the window.

I hate to be the person giving this place its lowest rated review, but it has to be done!
I am not a fan of mint flavored things. Period. I don’t like mint chocolates, mint chocolate chip ice cream, Girl Scouts’ Thin Mints, etc. You get the picture. BUT after reading all the rave reviews, I decided to give this a try and keep an open mind, or tastebud, if you will.
I’ve been hearing so many great things about the ever so loved Mint Julep, but it is not for me. It tastes like Listerine, if Listerine was edible. Or edible liquid toothpaste. The only positive thing I have to say about the drink was that it gave me fresh breath after. Lol.
Now for the Mickey shaped beignets. Those were a huge letdown for me. They offer the cute beignets in either a 3 or 6 pack. The inside, however, is HOLLOW. Just completely filled with air. Downtown Disney’s Jazz Kitchen (and Jazz Kitchen Express) offer much better beignets that are just to die for. You’re not paying $ 8 for air. Trust me when I say Jazz Kitchen has better AND cheaper beignets. It’s worth it.
Service was meh too. Everyone seemed so flustered and in a bad mood.
I’m probably one out of hundreds of APHs that won’t return to the Mint Julep Bar. :/

I love discovering new foods to try when I’m at Disneyland!
Their Mickey beignets are pretty good and decently priced for Disneyland! BUT… prepare to wait in a very long line before getting your sweet tooth satisfied.
Tip #1: Go during the nighttime shows or when the park is about to close for a shorter wait time.
They do close down the restaurant early sometimes so take note.
Tip #2: If you just want beignets and you’re not picky about them being in the shape of Mickey, Downtown Disney’s Jazz Kitchen serves them. In fact, they’re much doughy-​er and more satisfying in my opinion.

After waiting in a line that was a bit long I order a 3 pack of their famous beignets, a nonalcoholic mint julep, and a café mocha. The beignets were delicious even if they were heavy on the powdered sugar. The mint julep was okay but would’ve been better if it was hand made and had alcohol. The café mocha was awful. I’m a coffee lover of all kinds and had to toss that poor excuse for coffee.

I love how it’s not fizzy so you don’t get that bloated feeling and had a lemon wedge and 2 cherriss and sprigs of mint.
The texture is a lemonade but tastes way better! Trust me you need to come here also they sell Mickey Beignets lol

The Mint Julep Bar used to be tucked away deep in New Orleans Square. It was actually a walk-​up window within the garden patio of the French Market Restaurant (you can see the French Market Restaurant sign from the main walkway; you actually had to enter the patio area in order to see the Mint Julep Bar).
Though the walk-​up window is famous for its nonalcoholic «Mint Julep» drink (surprise, surprise), as well as other specialty coffees or soft drinks, I visit this spot for one purpose — to indulge in some delicious, warm, fresh-​baked Mickey-​shaped beignets.
Mickey-​shaped beignets are available year-​round at the Mint Julep Bar, and they come in packs of three ($ 4.19) or six ($ 7.19). If you’re with a friend, you can easily share a pack of six. Unless you want a LIGHT snack, I wouldn’t recommend sharing a pack of three … after one bite of these little Mickeys – which are generously coated in powdered sugar – you won’t want to share! I can easily inhale three of these beignets by myself.
The ordering process is pretty simple. You wait in line until it’s your turn at the window, you pay and you receive your snacks/​drinks with hardly any wait. Thanks to the large patio seating of the French Market, you don’t have to go very far to enjoy your treats.
I always appreciated how the beignets at this location are warm, fluffy, fresh and moist. And, they always come coated with plenty of powdered sugar to spare. I’ve learned that turning the white bag they come in sideways and opening them – and using forks to eat them – is the least-​messy way to indulge in these sugary treats (but the white powder still gets everywhere, so beware if you are wearing dark colors). I’ve even asked for a plate once so I could just dump my beignets and all the sugar on there!
For Halloween and Christmas, the Bar features specialty beignets — Pumpkin beignets and Gingerbread beignets, respectively. The Mint Julep Bar even offers specialty drinks, like Peppermint Mocha, during the Christmas season. Though I’m not a huge pumpkin fan and don’t really care for pumpkin flavor, I did enjoy the Gingerbread beignets IMMENSELY when I ordered them for the first time last Christmas! They were only available for the month of December, so, all gingerbread fans — keep your eyes peeled for these seasonal treats!
These Gingerbread beignets looked pretty similar to the originals, but they did sport a slight gingerbread flavor. Though the gingerbread taste was not as strong as it could be – not as prevalent and fragrant as it is in the «Mickey Gingerbread» cookie – I could still detect the gingerbread and enjoyed every single bite of the soft, warm, fresh beignet. It still sported that melt-​in-​your-​mouth consistently and was covered completely in powdered sugar (like snow for wintertime).
If I’m ever in the Parks again during Christmas, you can bet that I’ll be stopping by the Bar just to get a 3-​pack of these Gingerbread beignets. But, if you ever have a hankering for these deep-​fried treats during any other time of the year, a trip to New Orleans Square is worth the detour. It’s good to try these famous beignets at least once … and hey, any treat tastes better when it’s in the form of Mickey Mouse.

I love love love the mint julep bar. All these years of going to Disney and I’ve only discovered it a few years ago. These are virgin mint juleps since Disney doesn’t sell alcohol, but they are just divine. They are always so refreshing either on the hottest summer day or on a chilly winter day. Of course New Orleans square is the only place in Disneyland you can pick up one of these green beauties. The also sell hot beignets.

Out of all the times I’ve been to Disneyland, I realized that I haven’t had a mint julep so I knew I had to get one! On our most recent trip to Disneyland, my sisters and I waited in line for about 30 minutes or so just to get Mickey shaped beignets (regular and candy cane flavored) and mint juleps for an afternoon snack.
Honestly, the beignets aren’t as delicious as the ones that you can find at Jazz Kitchen Express in Downtown Disney. For some reason, the beignets were hollow on the inside and the choux pastry wasn’t as doughy, which was a tad bit disappointing. They did, however, satisfied our sweet tooth craving and the mint julep has actually become one of my favorites to get at Disneyland now! I thought that a refreshing mint drink such as the mint julep didn’t, however, go well with candy cane beignets.
Overall, I prefer the beignets from Jazz Kitchen Express, but out of convenience, Mint Julep’s beignets will do. Also, the price for 6 regular beignets and 3 candy cane beignets were $ 12.94, which is not bad considering the size that you get.

Be prepared to wait for 30+ mins, it’s practically like waiting for another ride! However I do think it’s worth the wait. Perfect for dessert or a little snack to get you through part of a day of Disney!
Right now they offer their seasonal Candy cane beignets and I honestly thought they weren’t going to be gross, but boy was I wrong. They were really good! Of course you gotta eat the beignets the right way or else you won’t get the full experience. You gotta dip it in the powder sugar like its a dipping sauce, that’s what it’s there for and it has come to my attention that some people don’t know that! Or else you would just be eating plain Mickey shaped dough with barely any sugar on it. I’ve had the pumpkin beignets from Halloween season and they were my least favorite out of the other two flavors.
The mint julep drink isn’t worth the hype. It tastes very artificial to me, like they just put green food coloring with Sprite and the mint leaf to add decoration. Honestly don’t think it’s worth spending money on.

Beignets are so good! Mmmm… Typically a long line, but it moves fairly quickly. I also got hot cocoa, & it was the perfect temperature, not scalding at all. The only issue I had was the lady who took my order & rang me up couldn’t remember my simple order, forgetting I ordered 2 hot cocoas & kind of giving an attitude when I reminded her that I was missing one. Probably just one of those days.

35-​years ago at age 10 I enjoyed a mint julep at Disneyland and for 35 years I have been trying to get back.
Several years ago we went to Disneyworld (Florida) and I made a b-​line for New Orleans Square to get one. I was very disappointed to learn it is only available at Disneyland (California).
Jump forward to present day, 2015 bi-​annual father /​daughter vacation I grabbed my 11-​year old daughter by the hand and made a b-​line for New Orleans Square. I found the Mint Julep Bar exactly as I remembered it 35-​years ago!
I ordered one for myself and for my daughter. The mint julep didn’t disappoint and tasted exactly as I remembered it. The only thing better? This time I enjoyed it with my favorite person on earth, if only I would have known 35-​years ago while sitting there that the next time I would have one was with a child of my own!

I’m a fan of the Mint Julep Bar. The drink is refreshing on a warm day in the park. Sweet, but not too sweet, and tart and delicious. Be sure to ask for a lid to avoid spills. And I always get light ice, because otherwise there is not nearly enough drink.
Let’s run down the beignets, shall we? In order of my favorite to least:
— Original. Warm dough, fried, covered in powdered sugar. What’s not to like?! They almost melt in your mouth and you’ll be messy from the powdered sugar. Just fair warning. The original are just classic and comfort food for sure.
— Candy cane. At Christmas time in the park. The line here is long, the longest of the year, and they are good. Just a subtle peppermint flavor. I could stand for a little more peppermint punch though. They still melt in your mouth and are super yum.
— Pumpkin. Maybe I came on a bad day, but these were disappointing little pieces of Mickey-​shaped fried dough. The pumpkin flavor just tasted off and they were that same light consistency of the others. I didn’t even finish the bag.
They come in a 3-​pack or 6-​pack and I think are a good value in the park.
This is one of few places in the park that I regularly come back to for my treat fix.
Line usually moves pretty quick, so don’t be deterred!
