— Locale destination — It’s located right next to the cleanest«99 ranch market» in Anaheim. It’s a tiny place that offers cakes, pastries, snacks, drinks, seasonings, ingredients that the Philippine often eat or use. They don’t have a lot, but an interesting Philippine market. Décor is nothing special. — Gluttony expedition — Mocha mamon: It’s a light airly sponge cake with an espresso flavor. Just meh… — Conqueror’s deduction — It’s just a bakery with a bit more Philippine stuff. The quality of foods — not so great.

I’m basing my review only on their turon, since I haven’t really had anything else from this bakery OMG, the turon is fabulous. We ordered 150 for my daughter’s party yesterday, and they disappeared so fast. Turon is a slice of banana, a sprinkle of brown sugar, and(if it’s in season) a sliver of jackfruit). All that goodness is wrapped in an egg roll wrapper and deep fried, then drizzled in a little more brown sugar. Heaven. The only problem is that most places make the turon really thick, which is fine except that it gets soggy after a while. O Manila makes their turon skinny, about the width and length of a finger, which keeps them sweet and crispy, even when cold. At 3 for $ 1, it’s a great deal and a big party hit.

Have you ever had the perfect ensaymada? My hubby has. His grandfather used to work at a bakery in HI and when my hubby was all of 5 chubby years old, he would stuff his face full of fresh, buttery, sugary ensaymadas. Since then, he has been on a quest for the perfect one. He’s been totally grossed out by the half-baked goldilocks concoctions with cheese on top… until we finally decided that today, we would check out the bakery next to the ranch 99… it was like«one small step for man, one giant step for hubby» I swear he stepped right into his childhood when his eyes lit up at all the mini, buttery ensaymadas. We got three, plus an ube one and he ordered some other stuff I didn’t know what it was.(No biscotti =(boo. We think we’ve found our wedding cake/cupcake solution! A mountain of beautiful, light as feathers ensaymadas! This is PERFECT alternative to that boring donut run or cupcake fad for the office, and at 50 cents a piece, they’re a STEAL!
