Rare By Goodwill

I love love love this place. I can’t express that enough. It’s actually becoming a problem how much I like this place because just about every time I walk into the store, I end up leaving with a purchase. It’s basically like a mix of newer and trendier things with some of the old junk you might see at a regular GoodWill store. That being said, I have found amazing deals and products here such as a pair of Dr. Marten boots for an amazing price of $ 25 (basically brand new, just missing the laces), a trendy little side table for my record player for $ 25, cute purses and clothes, etc. This store is conveniently located along other stores that are worthy of paying a visit such as Pokinometry, Ink and Bean coffee, Gypsy Den, etc. The store isn’t huge to the point where it gets tedious and takes forever to look through the merchandise. It’s pretty short and sweet. It’s never packed with people when I go. They also have a cool little section with some record players so you can play records before purchasing. Some times they’ll run deals during the week/​weekend like 50% off pink tag items or even hand out coupons in store. Check it out!

So much better and more affordable then buffalo exchange or crossroads. I found a nice 80s bomber jacket for 20 bucks and brand new doc martens for 40 bucks. This place carries a lot of nice brands for so cheap. I saw an uggs backpack for 20 bucks and other really good deals like the sac leater backpack for 20 dollars as well.

Great store! I usually do not like thrift/​antique shops, but this place was an awesome find. They had some old, some new, and cool finds. I picked up a worn once (maybe) brand name dress shirt and 5 hard to find records for under $ 50.00 (less than the price of the shirt new) I could have easily spent another hour and more cash, but had to hit the super cross race.

Rare is… an interesting place. It’s kind of like a slammed together Urban Outfitters minus most of the cool quirky stuff and actually good clothes. It’s a hit and miss. Some items were really nice and did look «rare», others were just so tacky they could have just as easily been in a discount bin in someone’s unfortunate yard sale.
Their prices aren’t all that, but I guess every week they have sale days and discounts, so that might make it worth it to check out regularly. If you love to sift through piles of folded, but not organized with any rhyme or reason, clothes, this is definitely your place.
I will say the design of the store is really well done, and looks like a small UO, which looks like what they were going for.
Would be two, but three stars because the day I came in, the woman working the front was super helpful and let me pull items off a couple mannequins (I was that girl, and I’m so so sorry!!) **I did end up buying all of the items she grabbed for me, so at least the annoyance was a little justified**

Clothes are a little over priced and so are records cute store and I love the idea of it :-)

Prices weren’t all THAT great… except for jeans. The only problem is that there is no organization to the jeans, so if you don’t have an hour to dig through them there’s no point in even going.
It’s cool that they have housewares, vinyls and other antiques, but I didn’t find anything that tickled my fancy.
I think I still prefer Buffalo Exchange! Better prices and more selection– though slightly less organized (except the jeans… these places have those backwards!)
Worth a stop if you’re in the area!

What can one say about this little gem of a store. Well, let’s start with this. First of all you’re helping people with disabilities by shopping there. This makes you an extraordinary person, the most amazing human, a compassionate person. With all this said, when you’ve overspent because it will happen. You can simply justify it by saying, you’re helping mankind.
Now to the store itself, this is not your ordinary Goodwill store. The store is a lot like any other trendy boutique that is out there. Very well decorated, they paid attention to every little detail when they designed the layout of the store. It’s an open plan with the left side of the store catering to the women and the right side catering to the men, some furniture and home decorative items. It’s a cool store, one must go see it.
Now on to the merchandise. The selection of clothing here is carefully selected. Most is slightly used and most is designer clothing. I’ve scored Lucky Brand, Coach, Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade and many more. Be weary of fake designer stuff, there is some of that in the store but overall, they do a great job selecting the pieces. It’s a fun place to shop. Have fun!

Such a well organized store without the funky thrift store smell.
Yes, the pricing is slightly higher than a regular thrift store, but everything is already sorted out for you. If you’re one of those people who love the thrill of hunting down that perfect thrift find, this store is not for you. Every is already sorted out based off the piece of clothing and often times even organized based off the color.
Service is nice.
About 60% of the store is filled with clothing for women and the rest for men. Which isn’t bad considering it’s still a thrift store. They do have a glass display which displays different articles of fine jewelry or those rare high fashion designer finds.
Overall the shop is great. They have a small dressing room towards the side, so make sure to try everything on beforehand.

This store is reasonably priced and the selection is decent. On my visit, I happened to come when shirts were 25% off, which was favorable. I’m not sure if they periodically have similar sales, but that would be cool.
The employees who work here are very friendly, well-​mannered, and extremely helpful.
I would plan to visit this location again.

Rare is basically a Goodwill thrift store with all of the cute and good quality stuff.
Items:
Mostly in good conditions. Every now and then, you would see designer brands for cheap, such as Michael Kors and Jeffrey Campbell. Most women’s tops are like Forever 21, rare Hello Kitty shirts, etc. They also have men’s clothing, books & vintage items.
Pricing:
It depends on the brand. Most tops I saw were around $ 9, which is cheaper than Urban Outfitters, pricier than a regular thrift store. Pricing is similar to what Buffalo Exchange offers.
Organization:
The t-​shirts for both men & women are poorly organized. You basically have to mess up the folded stack of shirts to see the print and size. I wish the store can organize it a little better, maybe stack up the shirts by size and make the printing more visible to see, without us messing it up.
Donating:
Since Rare is a Goodwill store, I’m assuming the store takes donations only (not a consignment clothing store!) But I think the store needs to have signs or something to make it clear for customers that are interested in donating.
I definitely see potential though!

This place is awesome! I came here after eating at Pokinometry! I had no idea that this place existed until I walked past it.
Rare by Goodwill is located on a small street right on Broadway. The parking is difficult to get on the street, so you’re stuck parking in the parking structure which is a bit of a walk, especially on a 90 degree day! The air conditioner was broken and it was in the high 80’s in the store.
Rare by Goodwill has a lot of name branded stuff and more «stylish» and «modern» stuff.
Everything is well organized and I didn’t feel overwhelmed when looking through the clothes. The staff is extremely friendly and greeted everyone walking it and asked if I had any questions.
There is a dressing room to try on any clothes you are interested in before making your purchase which I took advantage of.
I walked out with a pair of Club Monaco shorts for $ 7, a laced top for $ 7 and a jean skirt for $ 9. I was a happy camper. :)
This is the only location they have so far, so I’m hoping they will open more up in the future!

This place is great! Discovered this gem on my way to pokinometry. Didn’t even know this place existed.
This store is basically made up of all the good stuff goodwill gets. It’s a lot of the cute and branded stuff, seems like goodwill just collected all their designer donations and put it at this store.
It’s easy to find something cute here. I ended up getting a cute mini Bloomingdales backpack for $ 14.99 that was exactly my total, they don’t tax!
The pricing is kind of pricey for a second hand store but some of their things are designer brands such as juicy and Bloomingdales so it’s understandable.
Parking is very limited, I did see a parking structure but I’m not sure if it’s free or if it’s for the shops around the area.
Check this place out if you’re looking for designer hand me downs. Will definitely come back!

Randomly walked by this place and thought it was a random hipster clothing shop that played into the theme of the area… but then noticed it said «Goodwill.» Wait, as in the used thrift store Goodwill? Interest piqued…
First, I was surprised by how clean and modern the place looked. The store was noticeably split between women and men’s apparel… not like your typical Goodwill where it looks like the store vomited clothes everywhere in a non-​organized, disheveled, frustrating manner. They have some cool old appliances too… great for adding a classic flair to your place. Along with some nice furniture pieces. Prices were pretty sweet.
Fun place to explore and see what kind of random things you can find at a great price :)

This place is an upscale Goodwill store located in downtown Anaheim, off Harbor Boulevard and Broadway, near D-​Rinks ice skating facility. If you got a lazy afternoon and want to browse a vintage store, this is the place to check it out.
Everything is name brand here says the salesgirl. I found not just name brand stuff, like Gap, Guess, Dockers or Levis, but actually higher brands like Gucci, Dooney and Bourke, Coach, even Christian Louboutin, which retails new at $ 900 and higher.
I even found a Louis Vuitton purse for $ 59.99. Was it real? Well, it had the stamp inside, even the identification number. Even if it was not real, it sure looked nice. But, it wasn’t in the cards for me as i already had a perfectly nice LV purse, so I put it back on the shelf.
Everything in the store is final sale. Except for the electronics, which is by exchange only.
One nice thing about this Goodwill store is it’s very organized. Unlike your typical Goodwill store, which smells weird and have stuff laying everywhere, this one feels like it’s a boutique. With the place enclosed in windows, its well lit and airy. It’s pricier than a traditional Goodwill, but I’ll pay more for a nicer store.
The downside of this place is finding parking. There is street parking, but if you can’t parallel park, try parking up the street at the parking structure near the ice rink.
Hours are little wimpy, opened until 8:00 PM on a Friday night. I guess at night, there’s not a lot of foot traffic. So it makes sense to close once the sun goes down. Overall thumbs up if you’re looking to browse for a fair deal.

I definitely see what everyone means by saying it’s a Goodwill with an Urban Outfitter vibe. I like the name RARE. It’s quite fitting for a thrift shop that tries to maintain trendiness. It’s basically Goodwill curated to be hipster. The store front is appealing.
My favorite parts of this place are the interior design & layout and the really cool old books! I had my eye on an I Love Lucy one. I may go back and get it so let’s pretend I didn’t just advertise it on this review, okay? There’s even a record listening station (yes they sell records!) and a book lounge. Super cool.
I will say that some of the clothing pieces are a little pricey ($ 12.99?!) for used items. But they also have some good deals (e.g., 25% off 7.99 shorts). Goodwill in general has become more expensive in the last few years (Remember when thrift stores sold clothes for less than five bucks?). But I guess the prices at RARE are somewhat worth it because it saves you time from having to sort through racks on racks on racks of oversized and outdated clothing.
RARE is comparable to a Plato’s Closet (price wise) but I appreciate the style and vibe of RARE. Also, it’s right next to Pokinometry which is perfect for me :)

Think Urban Outfitters, but cheaper.
For men, they have a lot of name brand clothing and jeans for a quarter of the price of the big box shops. Most of the stuff is in great to almost new condition, so you’re not getting someone’s afterthought.
The business also offers antique items and they are REALLY affordable. The furniture seems to move the fastest as they really are a steal. We saw an old dresser in fantastic shape be put out on to the floor and within an hour it was gone before my friend went to go check it out. It was only $ 68, so I could see why someone didn’t hesitate to swipe up the deal!
I loved that they had the record listening stations so you could listen to the albums before you purchased. It made me nostalgic for the days that I used to hang out at Amoeba or the old school Virgin records to just sit and listen to a bands product in its entirety before purchasing. The prices are super reasonable and they have a good rotating selection, too!
Highly recommend you check this spot out if you’re looking to add to your wardrobe, or just want a cool space to browse some unique and inexpensive items!

Think multifarious merchandise. Think outdoor swap meet. Think shopping mall. Think Urban Outfitters w/​a thrift shop twist. Shake that all up and you end up with this concoction here at RARE.
I absolutely love the glass windows and fishbowl location. Staff here appears hard at work (never just standing around twiddling thumbs) and eager to assist. Literature section neat and structured; random dolls, trinkets and art cascading throughout the sales floor, bucket of wallets (I found a Roxy one for $ 4.99, yippy me!), men’s and women’s apparel, vinyl and odds and ends.
The store has a great chunk of higher ended brands, it just takes a brief excavation to hit that unique discovery item. And if you don’t find anything for you here, you could always scurry along to a Goodwill location nearby (Lincoln & State College or Crescent & Euclid), where they still have a wider assortment of almost everything.

My friend and I gave this little place a visit after our meal and were pleasantly surprised by the selection. It felt more like a Buffalo Exchange than a Good will.
I really loved that they had a vinyl records section. I listened to my first vinyl: the sounds of a solo whale. Pretty cool. I also feel in love with their corner book shelf nook display! Adorable. They stacked books up against the wall and painted letters. I think it said «We are not ordinary. We are RARE.»
I’ll definitely be back to browse their racks for «rare» finds

Visited this location as I saw a flyer and wondered what the Goodwill stores were up to calling this their newest retail space, and anything but ordinary… RARE by Goodwill. It was a nice retail-​like space and appearance, not like the usual Goodwill stores with clothing sorted by color on hangers.
The men’s shirts and tees were set on tables and neatly folded which I actually didn’t care for as you had to still look for the size and had to search for those tags by lifting those you think you might like and in the size you want. Some shirts were hanging in another area to the side, not sure what made them hang some and not others. In that sense I would suggest hanging everything from hangers or the employees will be constantly folding and refolding everything which I would hate to do all day unless that is what they prefer. Jeans were simply laid out on the tables, again you had to handle everything to search for the size label. Other pants were on hangers. Didn’t notice any color coded plastic tags or stickers so not certain if they have the 50% off on the color of the day like at the regular Goodwill stores.
Books were in the back corner and set up in a unique tiered level design and they have seat cushions to allow you to sit and browse through the books. I liked how they placed books on the wall behind the shelving and decorated it with their name.
General merchandise is set on tables and larger things on the floor and it works well unless they begin to bring in too many items then it will just look too cluttered like the other Goodwill stores, but this one is definitely heading in a new direction.

Today is the grand opening!
This is by far the nicest goodwill that I’ve ever been to. The décor is like urban apparel, and everything is for sale!
There is a giant assortment of sweaters and denim for both ladies and the men folk. Everything is separated in order by item and clearly priced. Towards the right is the building is a pretty good assortment of records and some awesome and well priced old timey time home accessories.
The staff was super nice and attentive. They were all working super hard to keep everything nice and folded.
