Overall good and skilled on some plumbing and handyman issues. Usually fair in pricing(but he’s not licensed). Usually charges you by the hour, which may not always be the best deal, depends on the job. Things he could improve on — taming his mouth. He tends to talk to tenants and other workers on a job, oftentimes about you. Sometimes he has an attitude. He brags that he comes back to fix something that he worked on if it goes wrong, but the last time did not come out because he started getting busy, so he didn’t fulfill that.

Great Job ! I am selling my family home, so there are a lot of emotions involved, I want to do right for the home where I grew up. We had a couple handymen come to our home and look over what we wanted done, Steve is the only one who followed through and gave us a quote, we are so glad we hired him, we needed brick work done to match existing 50 year old brick work, Steve had great ideas how to match it and make it look like it’s always been that way. Steve is very dependable, he was there everyday and worked until late in to the evening when needed. I will definitely hire him again to finish up my home.

I recently hired Steve to complete a few different projects. Mr. Cheek was amazing. He was professional, courteous, and for the people who do not like strangers in your home, he made you feel at ease. Steve analyzed the project and gave experienced advice on how to complete the projects. We will always call Steve for any jobs that need to be completed. He is not our handyman, he is our guy.

I recenlty hired Steve to do some painting at my home in Newport Beach. I posted an ad in Craigslist and Steve was one of many responders. A few things set Steve apart from the beginning. First, he impressed upon me his philosophy of doing everything as if he were doing it for his own home. Second, his price was very reasonable, third, he understood how to propertly«prep» and paint,(which not all«painters» understand) and lastly, he was persistent!(i’m pretty busy and hard to get hold of sometimes) So Steve and his wife came by our house to look at my project(garage door and gate) and he gave me a «not to exceed» bid, which I appreciated. He got started the next morning and worked all day meticulously scraping, sanding, patching, and caulking our garage door. The last guy who painted our garage door sanded, caulked and painted in the same day! As savvy painters know, the caulk needs 24 hours to dry, or it will cause the paint to crack! Steve did it right! The next day he came to apply the primer and then to paint. Primer dries faster than paint so he was able to do this in the same day. I had to leave before he was done, so I paid him our agreed upon amount and thanked him for his good work. A few hours later, he called and told me he was done with the first coat, but that he wasn’t satisfied with how it looked. So he came back the next day, with no expectation of additional payment, and applied a 2nd coat! I had already paid him in full, and he could have easily ended it after the 1st coat, but that is the kind of guy Steve is, and that is why I gave him 5 stars! Anyone who’s hired a handyman know how flakey they can be. Steve takes pride in his work, and it shows! He’s a great resource and I look forward to having him back to do other work at our house.
