I wanted to thank Irene C for her recent 1 star review. Her review brought me and my crew to the bar.
DJ the bartender was extremely friendly and welcoming.

An alright dive in, people seemed friendly atmosphere was typical dive in.

Best bar around!!! Dj makes the best drinks I have probably ever have had. The food is great I love when they make the bacon avocado burgers by Eric! Definitely the best local spot around

This is the most local bar to my home, so after reading the Unilocal reviews and the nod from OC weekly, we went to check out what all the hype was about.
When you first walk in, you get a sense of locals and a good time. The bartender greets you and gets a drink in your hand pretty quick.
The jukebox is loaded, so it was looking like a good time. Then IT happened, the bar tender lights up his cigarette, smoking while tending the bar, that seemed to open the flood gates for all the other patrons to light up too
This place would be deserving or a 4 or 5 star review, but there was one thing to drag it down, SMOKING. California has a law against that, which clearly doesn’t matter. I will say that there were a handful of patrons that did step outside to smoke, but not enough.
I thought the days of smoke filled bars were gone, boy was I wrong.

It is no secret that I love a dive bar. Make it dirty, make it in a strip mall, just make it dive and I want to go. So I found this place on here after our dinner at Park Ave and told our Lyft driver the address. When he pulls up he says «I am not so sure you want to go here.» I was thinking… um…looks ok to me. So I got out and poked my head in the door. The bartender and about 5 people at the bar turn to look at me… then I disappear out the door. This was to pay the Lyft guy and tell my friend YES THIS IS LEGIT, LET’S GO! And so we did.
Small bar. The front part of it is like the bottom of the J so everyone is looking at everyone else across the bar. The long part of the J extends out toward the back of the bar. Jukebox on the left when you walk in as well as an ATM (since this place is CASH ONLY — TAKE NOTE). Bathrooms all the way in the back.
So we walked in and sat a little farther back because we didn’t really want to jump in just yet on the locals sitting at the other part of the bar. But when a larger party came in, the bartender had us move over where we proceeded to immediately start talking to everyone there. By the time we left we were honorary locals.
Soon what did we do? We rounded up more people and came back the next night. Different bartender, many of the same local patrons, and us. We played Heads Up on my friend’s phone all night and everyone there joined in. It was TOTES AWESOME.
If you like dives with friendly locals, if you like cheap and cold beer, if you like chatting with the entire bar, then you are going to love this place. No frills, just a good place to hang out and get your drink on and have some laughs.

Take five serves the coldest beers in town! I also love the jay shaped bar because you can literally talk to everyone in the place. There are no strangers here. So if you come in by yourself be prepared to have fun and meet cool people. You will have a good time! All the bartenders are professional and friendly. Don’t let the dim lighting fool you. Take Five is clean and rich in history.

The front is nothing like the inside! Hidden jem! Great atmosphere, great place to be! The bartender D. J is fantasic!

Angela tells it like it is and makes a great drink

Went to take 5 for taco Tuesday with a friend and Staci made some amazing chicken taco, $ 2.00 a piece they were fresh, hot and hit the spot.

Very small place filled with locals. Thought I might be hitting up a pool table, but they don’t have the space. Literally a hole in the wall. Liked the jukebox though. Won’t be going back.

JHC — Staci’s Taco’s should be in the movies. $ 2 taco’s, which I normally eat three. My wife had three, and I had 6 of them — these were the best things I have eaten in awhile. It was obviously they were made with fresh ingredients by someone who knew what they were doing.
They are in the middle of the more «economically» depressed neighborhood. so we were right at home. Small, dark, early afternoon regulars throwing some darts, big girls slobbering in their beers.sweet.we came for some drinks and grub and left happy and ready for a nap.

The bar babes are all great. They tend bar and the cook! Staci does taco Tuesday and Cindy does burgers. Special insert are only $ 3 and regular and cheese are only $ 2! Give the Pastrami Burger a try; you won’t be disappointed.

I would like to amend my last review. Cindy has the best Burgers!!! The drinks are great & the customers are friendly…
