Disappointed that they got rid of the .99 cent tacos EVERYDAY. Sigh, this is what I loved this place for — bomb ass, cheap tacos. Nonetheless, this place does not disappoint my tummy. Good quality meat, perfect flavoring, and sufficient toppings. I got 4 carne asada tacos, 4 lengua tacos, 2 al pastor tacos, and one al pastor torta. Everything was top-notch! My friend and I are always satisfied with the service and food. We always leave so full…

Super good. Simple menu, flavors all blend together to taste like la cocina de abuelita. Salsa del arbol savory and perfectly done. Salsa Verde was mild not over baring. Tried three tacos I wouldn’t have paired together but it was an awesome recommendation by sweet cashier. No beer but they carry Jarritos. Waiting a bit to see if I can fit desert ;) I’ll definitely be back.

Came here for Taco Tuesday, $ 1 Tacos. They have a pretty good variety of meat here… I tried there Lengua, Al Pastor, and Asada Tacos. I used there salsa verde it was perfect. I hate going to get tacos and the sauce is all week and shit, nah this salsa was perfect so were the tacos. The dining area was pretty neat. I overall enjoyed my time here.

Staff is super friendly and helpful with the menu. Ordered a carne asada burrito and some carne asada nachos. Both were filled with a plentiful amount of meat. Everything was perfectly seasoned. The salsa bar has authentic properly spiced green and red salsa. Washed all this delicious food down with a horchata, also delicious.

Taco Tuesday is something the wife and I love to partake in from time to time and with that we are always on the lookout for new places to try. After seeing so many of our Unilocal friends check this place out we knew it was a matter of time before we came in to pay them a visit. Our first visit was a good but a bit of a flawed experience for me as the place was busy and the only table available was in the back and they had workers fixing a water line or something near the rear of the building that cause a putrid odor to emanate into the place and near where we were sitting. The service was good, the food is cheap and most importantly the flavors were all good as well. I know that issues like this arise and I would not hold that against them and definitely felt the need to come in again and give them a fair shake. After recently changing jobs I now work just minutes away from this(as well as their other) location and I have since been back two more time. I am pleased to say that the food has remained consistent and tasty and the smells are no longer emanating out of the back of the place. The gentleman who has taken the orders both times I have been back is friendly and the prices here are quite low($.99 on Tuesday and $ 1.29 all other days) for the quality I feel you get. I am by no means a taco connoisseur so do not hold that against me if you feel the the quality is not up to your standards. I have sampled the carne asada and chicken tacos as wells as the carne asada quesadillas and have thus far been pleased with my choices and overall experiences. I will definitely continue coming here for lunch when craving a quick and affordable meal of the Mexican food variety and am very much interested in checking out there other location up the street as well to see how they compare. I hope to return again soon and perhaps check out one of their burrito or tamale options and see how they fare.

Well I have to tell you that Unilocal did not let me down again. I looked up Tacos, being Tuesday. It was a given what was for dinner. Just Like some person had written; it was .99 for Taco Tuesday. I told the lady I had driven 12 mins out of my way to go there. Because I had found them online. I told her I found them on Unilocal. The lady mainly spoke Spanish. With a little broken english. She had no clue what Unilocal was. She was intrigued and surprised to know that people were writing about her place. The Tacos were great. when I first got there it was semi busy. room for people to sit. But as I quickly found out. Most people were there ordering to go. There was full bags of food leaving with the people. I drank my Horchata and it was great. Not the one out of a fountain. One that they made themselves. They had some other stuff but thats my favorite. I got my plate full of tacos and a side of beans and rice. also great like mom made as a kid. The Tacos full of meat. and just for .99 cents. I saw that they are usually 30 cents more. But as i started eating I noticed people coming in. This place was getting full quick. I have to admit. I wanted more. But I think the 7 were plenty. But my mouth wanted more. The lengua full of flavor and soft. The carnitas the same but a bit juicier. The Pork Belly was so good. This place is a hidden gem near Stater Bros Grocery store and next to the video store. It worth the drive to get here. Not far off the 57 or the 91. This will be on my places to go now. The lady came to my table a couple of times wanting to know how they were. I wanted to tell her she could read it on Unilocal. But I told her really good. As i was licking my fingers. She informed me that they had a second store not as big as the one I was in. And this one is small. But the workers over there and at this store worked at both places. So the food would taste the same. And it was off Lincoln. I will soon venture out and try it out. But for now I give this my taste of approval. I give it Nine licked fingers.

This place is OK. It’s not super bad, and it’s not amazing either. It is affordable and I wouldn’t mind trying something else on their menu. I had their tacos, chicken and carne, the chicken was better. Salsa is pretty good! BTW– there is another taqueria with the SAMEEXACT name as this one that I also did a review on, it’s pretty amazing so they are in fact 2 different locations

So far I will give this place 4 stars, even though I currently rate it at 3.5 stars. That can change based off my next visit. I had been wanting to come here for quite some time, due to various friend’s reviews/visits/etc. What got my attention is that the tacos are ninety nine cents on Tuesdays. As far as I am aware, it is for any type of meat too. We finally made our way over, and decided on their newer location because it was a bit closer to our home from anywhere we would exit from a freeway. We both went with the House Special. Three tacos, rice, and beans for $ 4.99. I am guessing that it was less due to Taco Tuesday. Two of those specials, plus two drinks only came to $ 12.40, assuming tax being added as well instead of included. Not bad! Unfortunately the ATM was down. Fortunately for me I actually had cash on me. I am going to have to get in the habit of carrying this around consistently because this has happened a lot recently. It was also stinky in the back, but there was a mass crowd coming in behind us who took tables right away. I think they were working on plumbing. Service was so-so despite the reviews. Maybe we did not time it right. For my tacos I went with asada, pollo, and carnitas. My husband went with two asadas, and a pollo. The tacos came out quick! There was a mini salsa bar, and there is a sign that I did not even pay attention to that stated only one salsa cup per three tacos. I knew about it, but didn’t pay attention when I came in. I got limes for myself. I grabbed red salsa for my husband and myself if it was not hot. There was a crowd hovering over and one lady must have grabbed at least twenty radish slices so I didn’t bother with the green. He got it himself. I can see why they limit it in a way. The tacos are tiny so no reason to go overboard. I would recommend getting quite a few of these, or get a plate special like we did. Both salsas were too spicy for me. Luckily cilantro, onion, and slices of lime were plenty for me, as long as the meat tastes good. This is about one of the few items where I don’t mind onion because everything has flavor. If there are big chunks staring at me I will pull them out though. I enjoyed every taco. My favorite was the carnitas, and unfortunately I dove into that one first. The last two places I had tacos at had dry and flavorless carnitas and I was disappointed. It was nice to have a change. 4.5 stars for the carnitas. The asada was good as well, besides the piece of fat I had. 4 stars. The pollo was good as well, and even had what I guessed were sweet peppers mixed in. 3.5 stars. My husband didn’t say much. He was moody to begin with. He did comment that he really liked the pollo, especially with the sweet peppers mixed in. I did not pay attention to the normal cost of things here, but if you come by on Tuesday, you get these guys for just less than a buck. That is hard to find these days. Not to mention, the meats were good in my opinion. I wouldn’t mind coming back to have some other items on other days, although tacos seem to be my favorite.

For those who say that this place good!!! Try King Taco in L. A County. We order chips and salsa and we got a bowl of soup that they called salsa. The tacos are only worth a dollar, meat was dry.

Love the tacos here! Priced as tacos should be priced… cheap! $ 1 tacos are right up my alley. I’ve ordered chicken, asada, and al pastor and enjoy all three selections. The salsa is spicy and flavorful. I pour large amounts all over each bite because I just can’t get enough of it. Taqueria Escalante is a(larger than most) hole in the wall type place. Which happens to be my favorite kind of Mexican restaurant. A hidden gem in a strip mall. Mmmm now I’m craving tacos!

I love the newish Taqueria Escalante. Moved into the(RIP Taco Xalos) but kept it’s charm and nice interior. I usually have a few tacos of different denominations for lunch there. Asada, Carnitas, Al Pastor, Lengua, whatever my belly tells me. All tacos $ 1! Great deal. They have a lot on the digital menu here. Pastor … Nice pineapple tinges on these spit cooked baby’s. 4**** Asada … Nice beef flavor no stringy meat solid tacos 3.5***Stars Asada, Pastor, & Carnitas … Like Pokemon some times you gotta catch ‘em all!
But if you are extra hungry then get the super burrito in the meat(s) of your choice. that tasty MoFo is as big as a fat baby’s arm and will fill up even the biggest stomach! I know this firsthand! 4****Stars Don’t forget your Mexican Coke!
The salsa bar is ok with the usual suspects 3***Stars Both salsa’s are ok good but neither have much heat and I don’t care for the chipotle salsa but I like the tomatillo green stuff. They got a big screen TV with the news or novela’s on all the time but who cares the tacos are what you come for. Nice wall murals and a clean interior. The service is always friendly and quick. Its a pick up type place but the cashier is always friendly and the place is pretty clean for a taco shop. 4****Star I’ll be back

This taqueria is quickly becoming my go-to spot near the California State University, Fullerton(CSUF) campus for tacos, particularly on Tuesdays to take advantage of their $ 1 Taco Tuesdays deal. Tacos are generally only $ 1.29 on other days. A $ 0.30 savings may not seem like much but it can add up when you can eat as many tacos as I do. The meat choices are as follows: asada, carnitas, pollo, chorizo, al pastor, lengua, lomo, buche, cabeza and tripas. I had tried most and thought the meat choices all had their distinct flavor, were moist and delicately seasoned. My favorite is clearly the asada, which was juicy, tender and had that smoky essence of grilled meat. The tacos are street-size but belies what a hearty meal they make. Each taco comes with a heaping scoopful of meat on two layers of tortilla shells. Four tacos should satisfy all but the healthiest of appetites. Burritos start at $ 4.79 and most combination plates(entrees served with rice and beans) are $ 5.79. There is a breakfast menu as well, which includes plates and burritos, ranging between $ 3.79 to $.4.79. Fountain drinks — $ 1.99(M), $ 2.49(L) — does not include free refills. Each refill is $ 0.99(M) or $ 1.75(L). Located right next to the Stater Bros. and in the same plaza as Popeye’s Chicken & Biscuits off of State College Boulevard near the 91 freeway. Taqueria Escalante is a tastier, more authentic and fairly priced option for tacos and burritos compared to the limited choices near CSUF. Orders are taken at the counter. Service is friendly with a helpful staff ready with suggestions. A salsa bar is off to its right. The restaurant is small but narrow with plenty of seating towards the back, clean and well-kept.

This was formerly Tacos Xalos, which to me was okay but pricey and not even worth a review, back when I went there once. Right next to Stater Bros in Sycamore Plaza, now that is has mutated into a Taqueria Escalante it is much better. I ordered the carne asada nachos w/everything(cheese, beans, sour cream and guacamole) and 2 carnitas tacos w/everything. It’s taco Tuesday so the tacos were 99 cents each. Their carnitas is viciously good, tender and seasoned beautifully. The carne asada is pretty good too and so was the cheese and other toppings. Some of the tortilla chips stayed crispy but some got a bit soft too fast. Otherwise tasty. And they could have splurged a little more on the carne asada portion for the nachos. Since my order was to-go, I did not have the dine-in experience, but did see that the interior hasn’t changed that much since it was Tacos Xalos. Doesn’t matter much though, food prices are better and I like their meats so far:) Staff was welcoming and my take out order didn’t take long either.
