The Colony House

The Colony House is absolutely one of my favorite venues. As a coordinator that has over nine years of experience, I truly enjoy working with professional and courteous people that have unprecedented customer service. And of course it doesn’t hurt to have the food catered from a 5 star catering company! All around 5 stars. Love this venue — an absolute gem.

Being in the wedding industry, I have seen every venue in the area and this one is SPECIAL! It is perfectly decorated and has a cool, urban feel. 24 Carrots Catering is always amazing and they make the experience so easy and fun for any couple! I love this space for a wedding or any kind of special event!

When my wife and I were looking for wedding venues, the Colony House was the first venue we visited. We probably had about 5 other venues in mind that we wanted to see BUT after we did a venue walk we knew right then that we wanted our reception there. We cancelled all our other venue appointments and booked the Colony House instantly. It was the best decision we made! Nicole Gagnon of 24 Carrots was very welcoming and was such great person to work with. She made sure everything was just the way we wanted. The 24 Carrots team was awesome on our wedding night. Our guests were very pleased with the service they received. I can go on and on about how great they were but this review doesn’t do them justice. I HIGHLY recommend this venue to anyone!

Went to private party this past Thursday & everything went well. Great Hall, more than ample parking, very clean and new design. I recommend this establishment to anyone who wants to have a party or get together.

Jon, I do very much appreciate the constructive feedback as well. And thanks for the reply. I am not here to tarnish this venues reputation and will gladly change my rating as appropriate when/​if things get resolved to the satisfaction of all parties involved. In the mean time, I only plan to give facts and objectivity, nothing more.
I will only talk to the things I experienced here first hand. It was also unkind of me not to give the good. So the good the appetizers were tasty, the unfortunate here was that I had to fight for them as the servers only came in and out one entrance and were devoured before making it past 10 ft. They never made it to the back end of the cocktails area, leaving some guest guessing when the o’dourves were coming. One would guess having multiple injection points would have been ideal. The next good was the décor and space have a rustic/​modern visual appeal that are if not the nicest of its kind I’ve seen locally. However, I cannot help but compare this to the gorgeous model who cannot carry a conversation or one lacking of personality. As looks only carry so far in the wedding ceremony space. It’s about the vows the sharing and gathering of the moment. If that isn’t captured and done right then why celebrate? That’s why so many vendors charge so high for weddings because there is no redo, it has to be right.
I cannot help but be a bit taken back by your comment regarding «complimentary mics». To me it would make sense for a venue such as the colony house who marketed the high end sound system as a perk to the package deal. To provide the mics, as the liabilities involved to avoid potential mishaps and complications with outside equipment. If this venue strives for unfaltering service then i see no other way, unless the only wanted result is a finger pointing match of who’s equipment went bad.
May i also suggest, that your team take another assessment of your root cause. I roamed the entire floor space (with my baby daughter since she was fussy) during the ceremony and the speakers up stairs as well as at the front entrance worked perfectly fine outputting the sound picked up by the mic. I am no sound expert but common sense suggests that it was not the mics. I will gladly change my review to reflect the level of integrity and service done to «make things right»

The new staff were wonderful and had the attitude perfect for staffing a wedding; the old staff were the complete opposite, especially the one red hair worker. If you want an extremely rude person catering your event, by all means, make sure she works during your event. As others have already mentioned, the mic was ridiculous, and the «coordinator» there just stared aimlessly at the crowd as she pushed random buttons on the stereo system. The ones hanging the drapes didn’t even know what time the wedding started. When we asked for things to be put in place, mind you this is 20 minutes prior to the start, they laughed as if it was a «yeah right, ‘I’ll do it,’» expression. I’m glad they were at least good at their sarcasm =)

The venue was beautiful, from the outside succulent wall to the beautiful brick, and wood trimming. The sad thing about this venue was the service that was provided. The bridal room had no lights or air so all the girls were fanning themselves. One of the bridesmaids asked to have the air turned on, but that did not happen so the girls had to continue to fan themselves and the bride. During the ceremony, we could barely hear the vows because of the poor sound system. The officiant tested the mic and mentioned to the people in charge that it sounded muffled but was not corrected. Overall, poor mic system, horrible ventilation, and irresponsible service.

Although the aesthetics were beautiful the staff in charge did not remediate the concerns of the bride and groom. Ventilation was poor in the brides designated room. The sound used for speeches was poor. The staff subjectively chose when it was time to stop happy hour. Would not recommend this venue unless u have a secondary planner in charge because the staff’s concern if they received the safety deposit is non existent

I cannot say enough great things about the venue and staff at The Colony House. I was married there last weekend, and we could not have asked for a better wedding. The venue was perfect, all of our guest loved the space. Our photographers went crazy over the amount of great photo opportunities the venue provided. From beginning to end, Nicole and Jessica were very responsive and flexible with all our requests. They implemented our vision perfectly, and the food was amazing. We would highly recommend The Colony House to all our friends and family!

What a dreamy venue. It’s solely an event space that can be rented out and the space can be used to your desire. People have had their ceremony here, and then converted the space for a reception following.
My wedding planner friend did an event here, which I helped out at. The venue was utilized for a wedding reception on a Saturday night. The space seems more appropriate for a small to mid-​sized wedding, and there are bars both upstairs and downstairs. In terms of safety, I liked that their was a constant security guard standing outside. In terms of interiors, I really liked the cement floors and exposed ceilings. In terms of exteriors, I loved the outdoor succulent wall and red brick fireplace. The outdoor space is perfect for photo booth, socializing during cocktail hour, and lawn games. My one complaint is the A/​C was way too strong and I was freezing, along with quite a few wedding guests.

Owned by 24 Carrots, this venue had the perfect vibe for our August «garden party» themed wedding. While the space itself provided the perfect backdrop, it’s the staff and quality of the food that sets this place apart from the usual expectation. We provided the vision and Nicole and Jessica were great at helping us along the way to create one of the most beautiful, memorable and delicious weddings I have ever attended. The space itself is really unique as it has a georgeous bar area upstairs with a wall of windows on one side and another wall overlooking the lower space with amazing wood beamed ceilings. There is also a patio area outside with a fireplace, string lights and a living wall of succulents. Georgeous!
Huge thanks to Jessica and Nicole who were amazing at handling the many questions that go along with planning a wedding. They were tireless in their responses to even the smallest questions! I would highly recommend them, 24 Carrots and this venue if you are looking to host a special occasion.

Let me start by saying that after diving into the wedding planning process and reading reviews, I was quite determined to select a venue by 24 Carrots and I’m SO GLAD I did. I am not one that was particularly excited about the planning process and 24 Carrots made everything extremely smooth and pleasant. We chose to hold our reception at the Colony House and it was absolutely perfect for us. The cocktail hour was outside and the dinner and festivities were inside. I wanted a venue that was warm and inviting and really geared towards everyone having a great time without feeling stuffy or too serious – Colony House allowed for just that! From the minute I walked in, I knew it would be just right.
We worked with Nicole who could not have been more awesome! She was extremely accessible and responded to any questions in a timely manner. It’s stressful time with so many moving parts but my mind was always at ease with Nicole and the 24 Carrots staff. We had several special requests to work around some food allergies in our families – there was no problem or complaints about these special accommodations.
Now the food – We ended up selecting the 18K package with worked well for us. We went with the chicken baklava lollipops, caprese skewers, brie with mango chutney in puff pastry, and braised short rib and brie; compressed salad; and entrée choice of tri tip, grouper with mango salsa, or spaghetti squash succotash (I think that’s what it’s called). We also had late night snacks of sliders (which I was told by more than one person were the best sliders they’ve ever had) and grilled cheese with tomato soup shooter. Dessert was a variety of mini desserts – key lime tart, chocolate pot de crème, salted caramel tarts, cheesecake, and crème brûlée spoons. We have VERY picky eaters in our family and to my surprise, everyone loved the food! The integrity of the food is not lost from the tasting to the event, which was hugely important to us. My husband and I both love to eat and this is so often a place people are let down by «wedding food.» Fear not! The food holds up!
Bonus, they accept credit card so you can rack up those points or miles! Might as well get something back :)
I will definitely be using 24 Carrots for all of my future catering needs.
