The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Woo-​Hoo! It’s Disneyland, Love the ride. Definitely need to ride if you have never been, Creppy Hotel Disney Ride!

This is hands down my favorite ride in CA. Everything about it is awesome, from the theming to the cast members who stay in character ²⁴⁄₇. The lines usually move surprisingly quickly, and it’s a nice escape from the heat during the summertime.

This ride is the BOMB! The theming is the best! There is so much to look at and to visually search out, it’s amazing. We’ve done this ride probably dozens of times, but I still find something new each time. The excitement of the drop is the best of any vertical ride I have ever been on. Each time is somewhat different too. On this day, we went on this ride twice, and the second ride seemed to go on longer that normal. The drops and the screams were world class! Love this ride.

This ride is awesome…
Its been about 5 years since I was on it… and I told a friend to be prepared it drops you. I really only remember it dropping you once, but it drops you quite a few times. Its awesome.
This time it literally lifted me off my seat multiple times. LOVE that rush.
When it brings you back up it stops you in front of cameras… people seem to do all sorts of funny things! I just sat there smiling like a dork!
This would be an amazing way for someone to propose… hold up the sign and then view it on the screen after. Youre welcome. HAHA!
So much fun and I love how they ask you if you have any questions or concerns then shut the door immediately.
This is a great ride to get a fast pass on as well, it takes you literally right inside to where you wait to get on.

Super duper fun ride, but probably not one you should trick people in to going on. I see it happen often and it usually doesn’t end well. The fastpass being offered is a super nice perk for the hot days that everyone rides this to get out of the sun.

Probably one of my favorite rides at Disneyland (which is strange because of my fear of heights). I heard a rumor that they may change it into a Marvel ride in the future but I hope they don’t lose the concept of the elevator drop.

I hate the free fall in this but it’s very well done. Height requirement is 40 inches! My 3 year old enjoyed it but my 10 year old hates it

One of my favorite rides at California Adventure! I am a passport member so I try to come as often as I can.
I never get tired of this ride. It a must every trip!
Thankfully my ears have never fallen off! I know exactly where the camera is which is a plus.

So I heard they were gonna get rid of this ride to make way for the Guardians of the Galaxy… umm what??? I love the tower of terror. When my friend and I had our little trip here I made it a point to visit the tower of terror even though I was super duper scared. The main reason is because I’ve been watching too many youtube videos and how supposedly this ride is haunted and all that and yes I believe in ghosts damnit! LOL
I sucked up my fears and we made got in line. It was actually average wait which I was a bit surprised about. The ride itself is simply you go up and then drop down. It was truly an adrenaline rush and I was left in a daze. I didn’t see any ghosts on that particular day… just tons of stars from being all dizzy like… kinda similar to those cartoons.
This is probably one of the better rides to hit in DCA so it baffles me as to why they are changing it up unless this new ride is even better… gasp. Anyways great ride and it was a blast and quite the experience. I wouldn’t go on it again though simply because my heart couldn’t handle the rush.

I always underestimate the intensity of this ride! The details on this ride are amazing and I love how the hotel lobby literally looks like an extremely realistic hotel lobby. Next time you’re waiting in line, look at the small props they have in the hotel lobby… some of the props will actually creep you out.
There are fastpasses but they tend to run out after 3−5PMish. Wait time varies since it’s one of the more popular rides in California Adventures.

Am I a bad person for chuckling to myself when the grandma next to me is screaming, «make it stop, make it stop now»? Don’t answer that… I probably know the answer.
Seriously one of the best rides at Disney (either park). I clocked it at a total time of 2.22 minutes (yeah I’m kinda weird). Even the wait in line is cool with all the spooky dusty hotel artifacts.
Lines are crazy so definitely get your fast pass for this one.

The one thing I don’t appreciate is the fast pass only gets you so far. After you go into the room where you watch the little twilight zone show you have to exit to another line. Therefore, you end up having to wait a little longer than the normal fast pass will get you. But it is still worth the fast pass, because it is one of the longer lines in the park.
Although the lead up to the ride is the same as at Disney World, there is one distinct difference about the ride itself. I’m not going to spoil it, but I definitely screamed like a pansy when we dropped. I get motion sickness easily, so this ends up being a good ride for me since it is just an up and down movement. It is definitely a thrill ride.

This is one of my favorite rides at CA Adventure. I go on it every single time I go, if I’m able to. Sometimes the line is really long so I would recommend getting a fast pass if the line is more than 30 minutes. However, the line does move fairly quickly sometimes.
If you don’t like big drops, then this isn’t the ride for you. You can feel your body lift off the seat as it goes down, which is one of my favorite parts about it, but I know that it’s not for everyone. It is definitely not for small children.
On top of this being a really fun ride, the old hotel look gives it a really fun vibe. If you are able to go on this ride, then you definitely should.

I do not like rides that are scary, drop me and make me loose my breath at all. That being stated, I LOVE this ride. The whole ambiance, lobby, cast members and the ride in general. The best part is when the doors open (that’s when they take your pic) and you can see the park from above. Even if you are a chicken like me you will like it.

The gods blessed me with a rich baritone voice, and thus, I always feel it incumbent upon myself to drop the opening line from the Haunted Mansion as soon as my group enters the ToT library staging room:
«Your cadaverous pallor betrays an aura of foreboding, almost as though you sense a disquieting metamorphosis…»
Usually good for a laugh. Except for a smart-​allecky teenaged acne factory who didn’t get my sarcasm and reminded me, «Wrong ride, man!» There was a little too much spit in his mouth when he said it, and everyone respected his personal space, unto their own convenience and comfort.
Also, I once traded a Los Angeles Dodgers hat with an old Asian woman for her straw-​woven visor, featuring a rainbow-​lettered TAIWAN embroidered on it while queuing through the formidable line to get on this ride. Hilarity ensued when the 80+ year old grandmother, all of 5 feet tall, donned my Doyer-​blue cap while I rocked the TAIWAN hat for the rest of the day. Thankfully… No lice. Plus, we saw her, like, a dozen more times all day… Still wearing my hat. Think Blue, indeed.
But as for the ride, it’s a well-​conceived adventure, rich with the lore of the Twilight Zone television series. As a lifelong fan of the show (yeah, we still watch the marathon on holidays) it’s fun to see the props from different episodes featured on the shelves in the small staging room and throughout the hotel– look for the Mystic Seer, Henry Beemis’ glasses, and the chalk outline drawn in the wall. Super fans will recognize the name «Anthony Freemont» on the lobby poster… And pray they don’t get wished out to the cornfield…
Once you finally get on the ride, it seems the ups and downs change a little bit each time. They’re always fun, however, and entertain the group.
Be sure to smile or make a funny face at the top when you can look outside— you’ll get the chance to see your picture at the exit, and then do what everyone does– take a photo of the photo with your phone. Hey Boris, who you gonna show that to?
I liked showing Twilight Zone episodes to my sixth graders back in the day– a great way to teach plot twist, character development, and theme, to name a few. If you’re a little rusty, the episodes show up on Netflix from time to time. If you want to impress a date, you can cheat and look up all the ride references at
By the way, she’s not impressed. Try buying her a couple of beers at the Karl Strauss truck, a turkey leg, and maybe a churro to set the mood. Otherwise, chances are the thrills and spills on Tower of Terror is the most exciting ride you’re going to enjoy on this date.

One of the bigger thrill rides between Disneyland and DCA. The first time that I went on this ride, it freaked me out. It’s been since 2009 since I’ve been to Disneyland before I purchased my annual pass in June. During that trip, I don’t even think I went on this ride. I came in June with my three daughters, in November with my friends and last month with the family again. All three times, I have gotten on this ride.
I like the way that this ride is executed, from the moment you enter the building until the end. Disney does a good job of making you feel like you really are in another place, but I feel like this ride, they do it really well. Most of the cast members are there, but not necessarily «in character». The last time that I was here, there was a cast member that was really good at being «in character». He added that creepy Twilight Zone feel, for real. It was something that I haven’t experienced until then.
The last time that I went on this ride, we got to sit in the front, which I haven’t done either. I have to say, it was fun being right there and also not having a hand from the person in front of me covering my face for the picture. I have to say, I think that if you’re tall enough to go on this ride and are in DCA, this is a must ride!
I usually get fast passes for this ride, after I get the Cars FP. Last month, when I came with my friends, we waited in the regular line. It said that it was a 45 minute wait, which it probably was. It went fairly quickly and when you’re hanging with friends, it goes by quickly. Either way, I highly suggest riding this if you’re at the parks.

LOVE THIS RIDE! Though during the busy holiday season, it took about an hour to wait in line without a Fastpass.
Frankly, I’m kind of a roller coaster and thrill ride junkie. Crazy accelerations, high drops, fast inversions, as long as I don’t get injured, let alone die, I’m for it! Sadly, I’ve yet to find willing partners to join me on this ride. Everytime I come, my entire group chickens out on me.
Tower of Terror doesn’t disappoint! Strap yourself into the elevator, and brace yourself for going faster than the pull of gravity! During the drops, the elevator is actually pulled downwards, so you’re accelerating faster than a simple gravitational fall, causing you (and objects around you if you’re not holding onto them) to float, held down only by your seatbelt. I always grip the bar in front of me, and I have to either sit on my purse or clutch it between my legs. If you’re wearing a hat, put it away before you go on this ride. Trust me, it will fly off!
Ignoring all other aspects of the ride, the duration of the falls felt less than a minute long. There will be LOTS of screams, and gives California Screamin a run for its money.

I’ve been to this ride in three different locations within 8 months. Florida, Japan, and Anaheim. I think the Florida location is the best one as the ride has a few more things going on during the experience, but when it comes to falling, all three locations are great.
I’d advise getting a fast pass as this is one of the rides with a longer wait and it’s one of the more annoying waits as well. Get it out of the way if you can, but the night views are also great.
If you hate the feeling of falling, then don’t do this ride, but it’s a great one. This is the one that always gets me a bit nervous despite having been on it multiple times.

I hate free falls but this was so much fun and what a surprise I was expecting just a huge free fall drop and the multiple multiple drops oops the element of surprise ughhh just go on This ride without reading this review your experience will be even better!!! Have you ever been so scared of going on a ride that your anticipation of being absolutely petrified with fear was worse than the actual ride???
That is my life on this ride.
Every time we go I know that the ride isn’t terrible, but I get my self so worked up into a panic out of the straight fear I have of heights and dropping to my death that by the time I reach the front of the line and I’m about to go on I’m shaking!
My fiancé loves it, he loves that I am so scared I can barely form a sentence. Hes terrible! Then what makes this ride the worst is that they take your picture right as you stop to drop from the 14^th story and my face seriously looks so terrible because I am blood curdling screaming the entire time I’m on this ride. I’m pretty sure ten year old kids are braver than me.
But I keep going on it because there is something about this sickening ride that is a tad bit addictive. Or maybe I’m just a masochist who knows.
