I’m not sure what’s special about this place. They aren’t always open, they have the oddest hours. Some days open some days closed. The pita has been dry on several occasions and falafel greasy. My hubs said his meat is hit and miss. I’ve been to the Middle East plenty times and maybe my pallet is different but it’s def not comparable.

Another amazing Anchorage food gem. This place is definitely going to be a lunch staple for me. The falafel pita is so so good. The falafel has the perfect texture, the pita was soft, the tahini hummus was delicious and everything tasted so fresh. My husband had the shawarma pita and it was also excellent. We finished our meal with a piece of baklava. It was perfectly sweet and flaky. Man, my mouth is watering just thinking back on this lunch. Do yourself a favor and go grab a pita here.

Great falafel, can’t wait to try other things on the menu.

Completely disgusting. Had the shawarma platter. For $ 15 I got a bunch of fat and gristle, mixed with onions and served over gross lettuce. The meat was not something I would consider edible. The pita was stale. I left the whole thing in the park for the homeless to eat. Horrible waste of $ 15. Avoid!

1) I LOVE this place. The food is amazing. Absolutely amazing. 2) It has no discernible hours of operation as far as I can tell. It is literally never open when I drive past. This site says 11am to 8pm, but that is balogna. I’d eat here 2−3x a week if it was open in the evening. Teach me your ways falafel king! I will run the business when you don’t want to! Seriously, it is frustrating. It seems to close completely in the winter, and then any time I try it isn’t open. 3 star review. If I drive by on my way home from work and it’s open, i’ll eat there and make it 5 stars.

This place is a great find. This tiny hole-in-the-wall produces extremely delicious food that is more authentic than any other I’ve tasted in the United States. The falafels are excellent as well as the tahini in hummus. The owner is very kind and helpful and aims to please. Don’t let appearances fool you. Walk inside and enjoy some delicious food.

I’ve been driving past this place for 2 years and finally went a couple months ago. I’m an idiot. Ever since then I’ve been going multiple times a week, and the hardest part has been trying to find convince myself to go somewhere else for lunch because I’m always craving falafel King. I get the shawarma pita. I’ve tried the grilled chicken and the chicken schnitzel pita, they are good, but the shawarma is the best. Also, the grilled chicken and schnitzel take longer to prepare, saves time at the lunch rush since it’s a one man show. The hours can be erratic but they are always open for lunch Sunday through Friday. I go back there for lunch and never have an issue with them being closed. The mother and owner has been battling cancer and going through Chemo so the family has trouble covering all the hours. Great food, friendly family. When the husband is working it is cash only, but everyone else will accept credit cards. I just keep cash on me, it makes me appreciate the true mom and pop feel of it. It’s delicious. Pickles and sauerkraut seems like an odd addition to a pita but it’s delicious. The tahini and red pepper sauce you get on your own are delicious. Easily my favorite lunch spot on Anchorage.

This place looks like a complete dump on the outside but don’t let that stop you from trying it out! The food is AMAZING! My personal favorite is the schwarma plate with extra pickles. The man that prepares the food(I believe he’s the owner) is always so friendly. The inside is very small with only a few tables so this is probably best for take out. Also, no credit cards accepted so bring cash.

The Shawarma and Falafel mix keeps me coming back. I’d order twice at the same meal of I wasn’t embarrassed to do so. Fantastic place, hidden by a humble façade… don’t let that exterior fool you. The family running this establishment are friendly and polite, the interior is clean, and there’s no rush as you enjoy some of the best food in town.

This place makes really delicious food. I visited Greece a few years back and was really excited that we had such wonderful Greek food in Alaska.

This place has been an eye opening experience here in town among the local minority of ethnic foods. What you will find with my reviews will be the size of food portions, and quality of food and price of food triangle. All three are equally important to me and this place has met those benchmarks in super strides. I now have been many times since my first time to this place and every time, it hits the spot. One thing to note, Carry cash just in case the Husband is working. :-) Sima does accept credit cards. I have been trying to find the best places in Anchorage and this is now one of my places that I shall sing to the stars about its food flavor awesomeness. Come in, enjoy and be happy.

I had some friends visiting from France and I told them about this place. I went to France to go see them and they were still going on and on about how good the food was at falafel king! It’s authentic. It is a combo of the food and the people who own the restaurant. They are so lovely, and they put love in the food. Fantastic falafel, better than any I have ever had in NYC. Great schwarma, yummy pitas and spicy sauce and baklava is too good for words! So reasonably priced and they have a drive-thru! One of the best kept secrets in Alaska.

When my office was in Eagle River, I would drive into Anchorage just to eat here. The dining space is very small but the food is worth it. Fantastic. And Avra, the owner and cook, is delightful.

Go here! Fantastic, fried-to-order falafel, fresh-baked pita, and many other delicious foods. It’s definitely a hole in the wall, and they move at their own pace(call your order in ahead of time if you’re in a rush), but I love it, and you will too.

I first saw this place years ago, but I only actually went in last year to try it. Huge mistake to wait so long. First, yes the exterior is a shack, but the place is clean and no matter who is working there, they make you feel like you’re dropping by to see friends rather than paying for a meal. An extremely friendly, family owned business that I visit as often as I can. The inside is really small, so you’re going to get to know your neighbors or studiously avoid them like I generally do. The food is simple. Basically shawarmas and falafels, but that’s enough. Everything is fresh, and made right to order in front of you. This place is easily as good, if not better, than the places I used to visit in Chicago. Definitely the best food you can have of this type in Alaska.

Nice Israeli food at a fare price. We ordered Grilled chicken platter and Shawarma and falafel platter. Its an Israeli food joint. It was almost closing time. The lady, owner cum chef, cooked the grilled chciken, shawarma and falafel fresh in front of us. The platters were served with 3 types of salad and pickle, along with hummas, tahini, hot sauce and pita bread. We loved the food. And we loved her service too.

The only thing I don’t like about this place is that it makes me hate myself. Hate myself for not checking it out sooner. DONOTBEFOOLED by the humble exterior. Inside is an oasis of Middle Eastern delights! I’ve only gotten the schwarma here. Why? Because it’s so damn good that I’m terrified to get anything else! There is usually a nice Israeli woman running the whole show. She as a friendly, motherly vibe to her. There are TV’s on Israeli channels. This place has legit roots! But it’s all about the food, and the food here is fresh, unique, and tasty. Don’t be like me. Go here immediately. Do not hesitate.

Wow this place doesn’t need a long explanation. Try it and you’ll be amazed. Not a lot to choose from but that’s because everything they make is perfect without complication.

We were visiting town and I saw this spot on Unilocal.I would highly recommend this to locals and visitors. We ordered falafel and shwarma and we were definitely satisfied. Great Israeli vibe and good food.
