While Mirror Lake requires no real hike, or much effort to really to get to, it still makes for a peaceful, resting spot. Trails close do include the Thunderbird Falls Trail and the Peters Creek Trail. So maybe hit the trails and kick back and relax here. Mirror is located right off the Glenn Highway. Like you can probably throw a rock from the highway to the lake, that is how close it is. Take a canoe or boat out. Grab out your fishing lines or just picnic under their covered pavilions.

Évaluation du lieu : 4 Anchorage, AK
I absolutely cannot believe no one has reviewed Mirror Lake. Mirror lake is easily the favorite of swimmers and paddlers alike in the Anchorage area. It’s blessedly leech free, goose free and clear. It has one beachy area for bathing and many launch points for kayaks, canoes and rafts. About 50 percent of the lakeshore is public land, with the eastern and southern shores being the boy scout camp and private homes. It has a lovely view of the Chugach Mountains, volley ball courts, picnic areas and a play ground. Mirror lake is a popular location for church picnics and gatherings, and can get crowded on nice days. But once you’re out on the lake, there’s plenty of space to go around. Totally one of my favorite places to spend a hot day cooling off. One star off for the gross pond slime that encrusts the bottom of the lake and the lack of a life guard.
