Snuck in here at just the right time and got a table for breakfast without having to wait. Food was good, staff was friendly. Pricing is average Anchorage.

I adore this place. The food is always on point. The chicken soup is amazing, as is the Philly (and everything else I’ve ever ordered). It is clean from top to bottom. While the food is stellar, I give it 5 stars because the of the staff. I believe it is family run, and they do it very, very well. «Momma» (I have no idea what her real name is), is amazing to watch. She obviously loves this place and it shows. Be prepared for her to sneak your kids a few pieces of candy when you pay.
They have turned us into lifelong customers!

I’ve been looking for a good «diner» type place in South Anchorage. This is a great spot. Total hole in the wall located in a strip mall, but great food, nice booths, lots of light and a relatively quiet place to catch up with friends and enjoy a generously sized meal at a reasonable place. No airs or pretense in this place. The food is nothing «special,» but its good and there’s a lot of it. Nice alternative to the chain restaurants in town.

Greeted us at the door with a smile, checked on us throughout our meal, and the food was excellent. Three simple things that most places up here fail to offer. Will definitely be back.

Well, shame on ME for never knowing about this place!
It’s nestled in stripmall (why do I keep noting this? This is every place in Anchorage.) on the south side of town. It’s definitely a local hangout, and most of the folks here seem to be from this part of town. What I’m saying is: us Bootlegger’s Cove/​Spenard folk stuck out like a sore THUMB. But you know what? Everyone was super nice to us anyway!
Food is solid, no-​frills diner food. Toast comes pre-​buttered, you pay at the front, and they have «Spanish» sauce.
I got the Spanish skillet and added jalepenos. It was a great comfort breakfast.
Interior was bright and filled with activity. «Controlled Chaos» describes the feeling of this place on a weekend morning.
They also do lunch and dinner!

A classic diner with a super friendly staff. What a comfortable place for some classic diner fare! I ordered a western omelet with pancakes. Whoa! What a breakfast… the omelet was very good, and quite large and fluffy but packed with meat and veggies. The «side» of pancakes was huge! They were really good too: light and fluffy and very hot. All in all, this place was a hit and we’ll have to keep it in mind.

Friendly and clean. Came in with a one year old for lunch. Wife loved the bun on her California burger. Comes with a cup of soup (no up charge for clam chowder) and a salad or fries. I had the monte christo with the beef barley soup. Both soups were excellent.
Owner came around and made sure we were doing good. Severs were very attentive. Had a good high chair for a one year old.
We will be back.

Great breakfast for very reasonable prices. Everything I ordered here was just great. I also love the coffee here. The size of the portions is perfect, no need for doggy bags and you will not leave hungry either. The prices range from 9 $ to about 16 $. The staff is very friendly. It seems to be a good place to go with your family, too.

Met a friend there on Saturday. Then took my son there after his braces were taken off. Good basic food and lots of it. No highfluten (sp?) stuff here.

Went here four times on this trip — it was that yummy! You absolutely must try this place for breakfast. The service is very friendly and quick. Your coffee cup will never, ever, go empty or get cold here. I had the Avocado, bacon, & cheese omelet. It was fairly life-​changing — no idea how they made it so fluffy. Also had a waffle with blueberry and whipped cream on top. Just about made me cry it was so delicious. For two lunches I had the Gyro sandwich. The chicken noodle soup that comes with the sandwich was better than my homemade soup, and the french fries were perfect each time. Loved it and will return as often as possible.

A little hidden gem. The menu is thorough but not overwhelming with moderate Southside prices. They have your regular assortment of Breakfast options as well as an array of sandwiches (hot and cold) and burgers for lunch. They have a dinner menu too! Portions here are huge but still small enough that you can finish your whole plate if you’re hungry enough.
I got the Two by Two. This consisted of two eggs, two sausages (or bacon strips) and two pancakes. My scrambled eggs and sausages were normal, not his to say much about those. The pancakes were so delicious and fluffy! My friends’ plates all looked delicious too so I’m sure no matter what you get it will be good.

I took my family to breakfast at Southside Grill today. It was my first time there and I have to say that it was absolutely great.
The meals, the staff, and the service were all fantastic. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Your avg breakfast spot. Lots of food but a little expensive. They will charge you an extra $ 4 if you decide to share a plate. Waitress somehow forgot to tell us about this charge when we ordered and I don’t recall seeing this charge noted on the menu. Service was ok, but a little annoying when they come around every 5 minutes asking if you want a refill. They must have came around 8 times.

This is «our» family diner and pretty much the go-​to of anyone in the neighborhood. We love it here. It’s run by a nice Albanian family. They remember us here, are fast and efficient, and the food is always tasty. Honestly, with all the gourmet burgers out there, I have yet to find one as satisfying and yummy as Southside burgers. I don’t know what they do but it’s always filling without being sickening or overly greasy.
And the breakfast? My God, the breakfast. Just amazing. I always get the 2×2×2 and never leave hungry. My dad has been with us and says they have the best corned beef he’s ever eaten. Oh and the soup is homemade every day and complimentary with a lot of dishes. Super yummy! I’m a huge fan of the chicken noodle.
This place reminds me of a larger version of the diner counter I used to frequent as a kid — glad I can share that experience with my daughter.

Whenever I wake up craving an amazing omelette I head to Southside Grill! The prices are great, the serving sizes are huge and the service is quick and friendly. Not really any décor, but like everyone else is saying it’s a no-​frills home style diner, so it’s fine.

I love this place. I come here often since I work in the area. The service is amazing and very timely getting me food when I come in uniform and they know I have only 30min to eat. My husband and I find ourself here on days off even to enjoy breakfast. Good food good service. They treat you like family here. Can’t rave about the service enough love the ladies here.
