Love the varieties of food from Halal hindi to seasonal persimmons. They try their best to have varities… but it would also be nice if they could expand to Wasilla

Visited this store again and had a wonderful experience at the checkout counter this time. Mrs. Kim was very kind and helpful. She asked me what I was making with the things I purchased and recommended a better sauce for me. She also gave me a big calendar full of asian recipes. I honestly don’t think I have ever been treated more kindly in an Asian grocery store. Much better experience then my previous visit, and I’m now looking forward to going back again.

This place filled with Korean goodies. I was so excited, I literally walked around the store three times. They even sell Korean sushi here! Lots of snacks and meats that you won’t find at your typical Asian store. They sell a lot the side dishes you see at the restaurant too. Great place to pick up some lunch to go! I haven’t been that excited about a grocery store since the huge Korean store in Sacramento, CA. I think Koreans just have the best stuff that makes my tummy happy :) PS: You have to spend more than $ 10 to use your card. So bring cash if you don’t plan on buying a whole lot!

This place is great for finding affordable Indian and Korean groceries. They have a vast selection of Indian spices, as well as frozen Indian foodstuffs. Their produce is hit or miss in terms of quality, but they have a decent(not amazing) selection. It is a bit grungy, and you have to seek out help if you need to find anything, but the staff are friendly. Their pre-prepared banchan are really tasty and light on the wallet. They also have a good selection of cookware.

This place Is a fabulous little find. We were recommended to go here and next door to VIP. You will walk in here and you will not know what to do. You will instantaneously be a five year old in a candy shop. There is so much to discover. Fresh fruits, enoki, oyster mushrooms, bok choi, fresh meets, tiny and cute quail eggs, an array or frozen fish, an array or rice, spices, noodles, teas, ginsen, lychee flavored goodies… On the non food part, you can find home utensils, tea makers, rice makers, dishes, pots(really big pots too) and on the non Korean, Japanese(they have tons of Japanese stuff too) An entire Indian aisle… With curry galore, and chutneys to Blow your mind away. And that is just to scratch the surface. I can spend days dabbing thru the different things. And if you are hungry there are plenty of ready to eat treats. like fresh cakes and fish cakes and more. The lady at the counter is extremely nice. She greets you with a smile and for New Years she gives you a little gift to go. Nice touch. Yup I shall return!

I love this place. If I can’t find the right Asian ingredients at some of the other stores around town, I know I can get them here. I needed a small tub of quality kim chi to go with my oxtail curry stew dinner tomorrow, and there it was! At $ 4.99, a bargain. Being an authentic ukulele-strumming part-Hawaiian, the freezer section dedicated solely to island food caught my eye. Poi in both 1 and 3 pound sizes, S & S saimin, Rendondo’s Portuguese sausage, Manapua, Kalua pig, and Zippy’s foodstuff were welcoming sights. Truly a Pacific rim food hunter’s go-to place.

As a Korean, this place is heaven-provided for us. We found most of things we need in a reasonable price considerign it is Alaska. The owner was also very friendly and it seems she likes what she is doing. I would go there again when I have a chance.

I’m a huge fan of Asian markets, and have been to many over the years. The New Central Market isn’t the biggest or the best I’ve ever been to, but for a city of Anchorage’s size it does a great job. It’s full of everything an Asian Market should have. If you haven’t stopped in you should. And the Kimchee is fantastic.

Hold your nose and dive into New Central Market, where you can get Asian ingredients ranging from Indian to Japanese. I come here often when I’m making an Asian meal, but I have to say it has underwhelmed me the last few times. I came in planning to make homemade mandu or dumplings and couldn’t find dumpling wrappers. Even Carrs has dumpling wrappers. The Kim Chi is good and the Indian ingredients are surprisingly some of my favorite. It’s a good little grocery store if you’re making an Asian feast, but it may be a supplementary stop on your way to a complete meal.

I live right around the corner from New Central Market and finally got around to stopping by. Holy Cow!!! This place is the bomb-diggity. I thought this was just a Korean market, but they’ve got waaaaay more than just Korean groceries. They have quite a variety, including quite a bit of Indian items. I was impressed by their selection of bulk spices, which are WAY cheap and some are quite unusual. New Central is CRAMMED full of all kinds of cool stuff. It’s hard to take it all in. Awesome place. Prices are all over the map, so be sure to take advantage of their weekly sales.

Great little grocery store. Has a great selection of both Indian and Asian foods, spices, and ingredients. I went to 4 ethnic grocery stores yesterday and this was the best.

Where else can you listen to WWII era Korean pop music along with today’s korean pop hits while you shop for banana milk and kim chi? That’s right, NOWHERE. They’ve managed to cram a lot of items into the space they have, and it’s quite immaculate and a nice place all around. The kim chi here is a lot better than Oriental Market(which we only buy if there’s no time to make it at home because it’s so time-consuming and people don’t seem to realize that and are saddened when we tell them we can’t sell them any because we don’t even get to eat our own kimchi) though I normally shop there and not here. I’m not sure if this place is as well-known as Oriental Market, but it’s just as good if not better. NOTE: They also sell home-made traditional red bean rice cakes produced in the back kitchen — the kind that resembles a casserole and has a crumbled red bean coating on top. Pretty neat.
