This is a great shop, and a great owner! As the only yarn shop within about an hour and half drive in any direction, this is the place to come to find good yarn. Louise, the owner, is super helpful and more than happy to answer any newbie questions. She stays open late one night a week for people to come by and sit and knit and help each other out. She also offers one or two classes a week at all levels, many determined by what people are interested in. Most of her products are mid– to high-end — you won’t find any Red Heart here, or anything else sold at Wal-Mart — but she has quality, BEAUTIFUL yarns and fiber at reasonable prices! Alpaca, organic cotton, silk, hand-painted blends — you name it! She also has all the accessories you will need to get started or for that special project. Louise seems to really want to create a community, not just a place to come buy things. The store itself is gorgeous, located just off the town square in a former JC Penny store that she renovated(just ask her — she’ll tell you all about it!) She’s succeeded in creating a welcoming place where browsing is encouraged, and people are made comfortable. Plus, she’s a real character, lots of stories and lots of fun to talk to! She often runs specials on her Facebook page — we got 10% off for checking in — so find her and Like her page there too.
