Their root beer is fantastic! Especially in a frosty mug. But I’m not a fan of their food and there are not many choices for the non-meat eaters.

The wife and I stopped in here on our way through Anderson on a recommendation. I am familiar with the old B&K stand in Muncie, and I have to say this is much better. It was about 6:30 on a Saturday and it was pretty packed. There were probably only 5 or 6 spots available. I barely had the car off before the waitress was at our window! We both ordered the Slaw Dogs and mugs of Root Beer. Like others have said, they hook the tray right there on your window. It is somewhat difficult to juggle everything, but with lots of napkins it is all manageable. Even though they were so busy, we received our food in under 10 minutes! Talk about quick service. The food was very good, but WOW those Slaw Dogs cleaned out our sinuses that is for sure! I was feeling them an hour after we left. I think we will try the Spanish Dogs next time we are through. We both enjoyed the Root Beer very much(the ice cold mugs are always a treat). Finally, talk about cheap! It was under $ 8 for the both of us to leave full. Unfortunately I missed the $ 8+ debit/credit card sign. However, the waitress said it was no big deal and that she would run it(probably because she assumed after tip it would be over $ 8). I didn’t get her name, but the waitress we had was super friendly and very attentive. We will definitely be back next time we come through town.

Disappointment is all I feel about this place after my visit this evening. There was maybe 6 cars when we pulled up, so they weren’t terribly busy. Food was cold, tenderloin was hard to chew and the root beer was even off. Seems a lot has changed and not for the better. Safe to say, won’t be coming here again.

Service is great and quick! It’s a drive-in & eat-in your car place that has a kids menu, and seriously great root beer! We’ve been coming here for over 20 years, and they even sell Christmas trees in the winter!

I rarely get a chance to stop at Genes as its only open during the summer, but this is a favorite of mine. A good coney dog, fried mushrooms and some root beer! POW!

I love gene’s! I always want summer to come back around so that way Gene’s will be open! If you go, you have to have a hot dog with the spanish sauce! It is their signature item and it is so good. It’s under $ 2! You also have to get a rootbeer float! Even if you don’t like rootbeer! It’s awesome. Gene’s is a drive-in and eat kind of place. So park and roll down your window just a little bit so they can place the tray on your window. They are always crazy busy so don’t be upset if your service is a little slow! ALSO There is a $ 8 credit limit for debit/credit cards and there is a two different transaction limit per car/table.

This was the first food I was taken to after I moved to Anderson. It did hold up to the old fried food drive in craving. However, the price is way too expensive for the food they offer. If The price is ever lowered and I know about it, I would return.

If you are in the area and haven’t been it is a must. The Spanish dogs are amazing. One of my favorite childhood pastimes.

There are too many McDonald’s type fast food places, Gene’s is a refreshing change from that. I love the local flavor this brings to the area. Good & Reasonably priced Root Beer, Polish Sausage & Hot Dogs.

This is an Anderson staple. When I go home I always hit up Wing On Inn and Gene’s. The spanish dog with onion and crinkle fries does the trick. The root beer is fire.

When I think back to when I was young the 1st thing to do was get a Root Beer in a frosted mug! Stopping by Gene’s was like going back in time for me. The mug of fresh root beer come in a frosted mug and is as smooth and rich as when I has young. The hot dog has also very good their spanish sause is not over powering andtheir onoins are chopped to perfection. Stop by before they close for the season! Eat well and live well and please no chains!

You know, eating in a car is a fun novelty, but it is darned inconvenient. What am I going to do with this giant frosty mug of root beer? It won’t fit in my cup holder. Am I just going to have to drink it all right now and then order another? Yup. But seriously, the root beer is great. The hot dogs are great too. Everything is really solid. But the best part? The price. Three people ate here for $ 10. This place could easily be price gouging for the drive-up experience, but they keep their prices very reasonable. I’m still kicking myself for not getting a root beer float. This might be one of the only things worth doing in Anderson.

Coney with Onion is one of the best around Indiana. Root Beer is a little too sweet for my taste and not enough carbonation… still will go back and get a bag of coney’s to go…

Gene’s is a typical old-style drive-in establishment. Considering I went on opening day, I won’t knock down for a long wait for initial service. Once I was seen, the food came fairly quick. Hot dogs were semi warm and had ingredients from someone else’s order on mine, but they were still ok. Gene’s is a good place to go, they just need to refine a little.
