An Anderson Staple! I wasn’t sure what to order the first time, but the staff was friendly and helpful. It was a great experience and we enjoyed tasting the cuisine! We’ll definitely return in the future!

Pretty solid Mediterranean fare. My first time having Egyptian food, although I got the feeling this place is more of your average Mediterranean because the menu didn’t feel very Egypt-specific. Nothing wrong with that though, as long as it’s good! I went for the Egyptian meat pie. It was pretty heavenly. Nice spices in there, and their filo dough is pretty epic. The spinakopita and tiropita my dad got were also really good. I usually don’t like feta cheese but I loved those things! I liked the meat pie best, and I think it was the most Egyptian of the three. My mom got something with lentils, tomatoes, and macaroni… it was good but not great. Nice little place, looks a little sketchy from the outside but it’s clean and nicely decorated. Lots of different coffee and other drink options as well. Cappuccino was good, but a little bitter… I had to add some sugar. Service was adequate. I think we’ll definitely be back. I won’t be a regular stop since it’s a decent jog from home but it was super tasty! I’d like to go for dinner. Lunch portions were a little small for the price, but now I’m sure I’ll be craving another Egyptian meat pie when I think of Mediterranean food in the area.

One of my all-time favorite(2nd favorite in fact) restaurants in Indiana, and I’ve lived here for over 18 years. The Nile is a legendary hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Anderson, Indiana. I’ve even heard a chef say it was his favorite place to eat. The menu is not huge but of superb quality; I’ve never had anything there that wasn’t excellent. And it’s consistently good every visit. The best Mediterranean food I’ve found in the state of Indiana. I love the Turkish coffee and get it just about every time. Best baklava I’ve ever had and also the smallest portions(only complaint). Everything food-wise is superb. The wine and beer lists are, like the food, highly selective but all of the highest quality. The ambiance is very cozy, and amazingly appealing for its location just off the street and in such a tiny space. There is a larger room tucked away in the back for bigger parties and we’ve been there several times too — very nice. They have belly dancers sometimes and the owner is always very friendly. I absolutely love The Nile and always take my friends and family there as much as possible.

Wow this place makes you feel like your in Egypt. The food was solid. Fresh and food portions were perfect. An extensive menu that is sure to please at any of the 5 courses. These owners are professional and it shows. Great service, all around grand slam.

I really enjoyed this place. I was visiting Anderson from LA and went here with my local friend who had been wanting to try it. The hummus was yummy as an appetizer and we both enjoyed our meals. Everything was spiced really nicely and even though I have had a lot of Mediterranean food, I had never tried specifically Egyptian food and it was very unique. Staff was super nice. Took away one star because it was a bit pricy for what it is and the pita bread wasn’t great which is hard to ignore when pita is such an integral part of the meal. If I keep coming back to Anderson every 4 years like usual I’ll definitely request a trip back here. See you in 2019 Nile!

This is a great place to eat. The ceiling and carpet could use an update but I was not there to eat that. All of the food my husband and I had was really good! We were served quickly by a very nice waitress. Everything was clean. We had the best spanakopita we have ever had and we have eaten at a lot of middle eastern restaurants!

We went on a weekday for an early supper. There was one server for the restaurant, but he did the best he could. We were very disappointed with the food. My wife’s kabob was mostly gristle and my Egyptian Meat Pie was the size of a Pop Tart. Both meals cost around $ 12 and were definitely not worth the money.

So I eat here often! The food is okay a little over priced, but it’s not terribly bad. Today the service was terrible. I asked waitress who I presumed worked here, because she was in the kitchen, but she didn’t if I could have some fresh bread after receiving hard bread. He commitment back to me was«what do you want me to do about it!» Extremely rude! Simir, I would recommend that you hire better help. I will no longer eat at this establishment.

This place is great! Tons of vegetarian options, but plenty for the meat-eaters too! We shared a hummus appetizer, which was perfectly sized for the tree of us(might have been a little small for 4 people) and it was delicious! I had the Koshary Bowl, which was amazing! I have never had anything like it! The other two people I was with had a steak sandwiches and said they were great! My only issue was that the food took a really long time to come. We were there over lunch and it took about an hour total, from the time we sat to the time we left. So if you’re on a tight lunch break, this may not be a top choice. Otherwise, the service was great and I loved everything about this place!

This restaurant is great example of the old«Diamond in the Rough» idea. Located on the(relatively) busy 8th street on a well-loved corner, it’s easy to dismiss the small building and drive by it. But it’s definitely worth stopping. As a side note, parking is behind the restaurant, accessible from the side street. The Nile is a go-to destination for us when we want something different, especially since much of my family is vegetarian or vegan. Most places will only have one or two options, but the Egyptian cuisine doesn’t disappoint. There’s plenty of dishes in all parts of the menu. I’m a fan of the Cleopatra’s Feast(tasty philo pastries with falafel, rice, and green beans), but there are plenty of options, including the lentil soup. My only objection is that I wish the hummus appetizer plate came with more hummus, but I’m willing to admit that this might be just because I like hummus. We’ll often get the restaurant for takeout. That being said, enjoying the food in the full ambiance of the restaurant is a fun experience. And trust me, there’s plenty of ambiance.

This place is really a gem. The premise is Egyptian Coptic(Christian) food. The food is very unique and authentic(I’ve been to Egypt) and really well done. Due to the fasting regiment of Eastern Christians during Lent, there is a lot of vegetarian/vegan food. It is very filling and definitely stuff you haven’t had before. From lentil soup to koshary, which is a mixture of beans, fried noodles, and vegetables. They also have lots of good meat dishes – lamb, chicken, souvlaki, etc. The desserts are pretty good too. Sometimes the owner plays the dumbek. They even have a great beer selection. I would give this place five stars but for the fact that they always have incense burning and it is very obtrusive. Still check it out if you’re in the mood for something different and delicious.

My boyfriend and I were here on a Wednesday evening, around 8 pm. The outside looks like a rundown hole, but the inside is welcoming and a nice atmosphere. Our waitress was very friendly and great at explaining the menu and each dish with our questions. I had the Spinakopita dinner which was great. It’s a mixture of green beans & tomatoes with a broth, I believe with cinnamon(that is a layman’s guess on the flavors) and delicious rice. Very fresh and lightly dressed greek salad came with my meal. My boyfriend had the gyro plate and he said it was very very good. Nice selection of wine and import beers. Prices are reasonable. I would recommend this nice restaurant if you have a chance to visit.

I was there back in 2010 and the other day I remembered going there but couldn’t remember the name. I just wanted to drop a quick amount of props to this place. The hummus… OHHHHHTHEHUMMUS! My friends, best Greek food ever… and in Indiana… who knew!!! I was in the Fort Wayne area for a family thing and was staying in Anderson. The rest was history. I wish we had that good of authentic Greek food here in Pennsylvania.

I have eaten at the Nile before and have had no complaints about the food. Went there with another luncher yesterday. He had the gyro and enjoyed it for the most part. He did say that it was too salty and the tomato on the gyro was 2 end pieces rather than nice middle pieces. The fries that he had were also too salty. I chose the lentil soup with a tiropita. The soup came out lukewarm so I asked for a reheat on it. It came back nice and hot but, it was so salty that it burned my mouth. The flavor seemed to be very good but with the amount of salt I couldn’t finish it. The Tiropita was excellent and if I had known how good it was I would have ordered the large one! Service was good. The one waitress was very busy but was still able to refill water glasses frequently. This incident will not prevent me from going back to the Nile but I will not order the soup again no matter how good it could have been.

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover and don’t drive past this jewel!!! Okay, building needs a facelife, interior is filled with Mediterranean/Egyptian items — the food… Ohhhh, Lordy! The incredible food!!! Went with the Filo Trio appetizer — spanakopita, triopita and Egyptian meat pie — did I die and go to heaven?! Well, I think I did — UNTIL I tried my husband’s gyro sandwich — then I knew we couldn’t be on Earth — and certainly not in Anderson, IN at a small restaurant that needed a facelife!!! Fresh ingredients, enough food for both of us to feel sated and content. We’ve eaten this type food before at MANY, MANY restaurants that said they were«Greek» — well, I don’t know where they thought they could cook, because what we had at THENILE was absolutely delicious, amazing and to think we almost passed this by. Waitress said that every other Friday they have a belly dancer starting at 6PM. Ohhh, I don’t think I can wait two weeks to go back!!! If you are heading to Hoosier Horse Park to gamble, save enough to take a stop over at this little gem. It’s well worth the short side trip and you won’t be sorry!!!
