Would never go back. Salad had more dressing then lettuce. The soup was cold and tasted old. Sushi was flavorless. To top it off service was poor.

Went during an understaffed busy night, but our server was awesome. He was entertaining, funny, accommodating and very apologetic about the troubles(running out of napkins, no glasses). None of these things were his fault although we could tell he’s been having a rough time with other tables. He was awesome and the food was still great… Highly recommend going!

I LOVE Toyko Bay– I know they have changed the name recently but this is NOT due to it not being a good place to eat. They are changing the name due to the fact they are NOT affiliated with the other Toyko Bay’s in the area! I eat here probably 2 – 3 times in a month. It is my absolute favorite place– I love the owner, Lisa, She is always so friendly! The last visit I had was for mine and a friends birthday– They brought a complimentary Sake for us and we had a great time– I understand some of the staff can be frustrating maybe taking a while to return or not keeping up with whats going on at your table– truth is I have had my fair share of that at other places too. Majority of the staff are great and very attentive and the food is fabulous! Try the first love roll or the firecracker roll! It has a laid back feel by the lake– I have seen people come from boats to eat on the patio– Which I plan to do this summer!!! Tomorrow night I will be there with my boyfriend(who didn’t like sushi until he tried this place) to celebrate Valentines day here! 5STARS! Adding in: They have GREAT live music during the week!!! and also a full bar and great bartenders!

There is a bit that’s off-putting about Tokyo Bay, however, it could have been timing. The place was relatively empty, which always unnerves me when it’s dinner time, but, ignoring that, there’s also this weird sign/identity thing going on with the name change outside, but not inside or on the website which was also disconcerting, and made me think of the numerous train wrecks with half hearted name changes on Kitchen Nightmares. With the show in mind, it makes you wonder what else is going on, and it can’t be a good sign if they are incapable of budgeting the branding all the way through. As for food, portions are impressive as far as rolls go. My table got overzealous and bought three rolls each, but it made for a good judge as to what the menu looks like. I had my one roll, the black dragon, which I tacked onto a sushi boat for two. I think it’s safe to say the portions are a big pro at Tokyo Bay. I think the specialty rolls are also pretty creative. The black dragon was a spin on the normal dragon roll. It had avo, tempura, and unagi, but the way its wrapped has the seaweed spiraled and sets it on top. In the menu photo, it looks like fish belly. Haha or skin. So I wasn’t sure what I was getting. It wasn’t my favorite take on the roll, but kudos for something different. They also had a bulgolgi roll, I didn’t try it, but it looked pretty good and was touted as well-marinated. The center contains iceberg lettuce wrapped in rice and seaweed. The sushi boat for two was reasonable and came with a broth soup and salad, 2 pieces of shrimp tempura and seared tuna, with 4 types of nigiri, 2 warships, and 2 special rolls. The salmon nigiri was really nice, however, I wasn’t much for the tuna, hamachi, and fake crab nigiri. The tuna nigiri almost made me throw up… I’m not sure if it wasn’t fresh or if I don’t like tuna as much as I think I do. On another note, the seared tuna and shrimp tempura app was really good. I might consider returning just for that. It was a bit spicy but probably the best thing I had there. Tokyo Bay is pretty much what you’d expect. It’s your average Americanized sushi restaurant— decently portioned rolls, heavy menu catering to very gimmicky rolls, questionable freshness of fish, and nothing terribly authentic or traditional in terms of the art per say. It does its job though. Also, not sure what’s up with the Jiro dreams of sushi posters. Subliminal messaging? An employee found the posters in back and was thinking«hey we’re a sushi restaurant! Total relate!» Or maybe they admire Jiro and it’s their aspiration. Just kinda out of place. The branding is a little bit of a mess here. Otherwise, sushi is okay if you’re being casual and don’t care too much.

Our all time fav place to eat! I’ve travelled all over and hands down this ranks up there in my top 3 sushi places I’ve eaten across the country! Their rolls are amazing and quite creative too! We eat here at least every couple weeks and 98% of the time the service is great, especially at the sushi bar. If you don’t eat fish/sushi or are looking for a steak don’t waste your time coming here, go to Longhorn. If you are looking for a California roll, don’t bother. The sushi rolls are delicious and the menu is huge. The fish always tastes fresh and the house soy sauce is great!(The owner brews it himself) It makes me mad when I read poor reviews on this place and see they chose steak or teriyaki chicken. If your taste buds want an adventure and you want a different dining experience come here… you Will Not Be Disappointed!

Location is great, Sushi was AMAZING! As I was sitting at the sushi bar, I observed all the wait staff appeared to be attentive except my waitress. Barely acknowledged me after taking my order. Dropped off my check at which time I asked for a to go box. 9 minutes pass and she still hasn’t returned, 11 minutes pass and I politely walk to the front and ask them to run my check. Judging by their reaction this is a common occurrence with this particular waitress. While I would go back, I would definitely ask for someone else to wait on me!

Best sushi around! Huge selection and we’ve never had anything off the menu that we didn’t like. Outdoor seating overlooking the lake is great.

Great food, just passing through Anderson! The isomaki roll is really good. For the amount of food we got the price was very reasonable. The place is super cute and clean! The food tasted really fresh.

4 star view, mediocre food, and friendly but not knowledgeable staff. You can’t tell from outside, but this place is nice and friggin huge. Quaint layout, plenty of outdoor(lakefront) seating, and modern décor. The looks of it are the best thing they have going. There were only like 3 other people in this place and it still took a while for me to meet my waiter. I told him I was thirsty and he could just bring me a pitcher of water. I went ahead and ordered. He obviously didn’t know much about sushi, but we got the order threw eventually. I chugged my water as I said I would. Didn’t see the dude again for like 10+ minutes. I would have just poured it myself. He never apologized, just eventually poured me a refill. When he finally brought me my salad, it had the wrong dressing. I asked for ginger, he brought shrimp sauce. I had ran a couple miles that day, so I just went with it. Not horrible, but nothing special. The fish was fishy. I’m kind of surprised I actually ate it. I didn’t get sick or anything, but I wouldn’t ever go out of my way to come here again. Nice view. If you want to impress a dumb date that knows nothing about food, for a reasonable price, I guess that’s your niche.

I’m shocked to read these reviews praising this dirty place! If you are looking for decent Japanese cuisine go to the Toyko in Clemson, SC. This restaurant may look nice being on the lake, but go inside, you will smell a heavy musky atmosphere complimented by paper on the floor and dirty tables, and dead bugs and flakes of diet in the window seal. It’s unacceptable. My husband wanted to leave right away, but I urged we stay and see how the food is… The food was subpar. I had the hibachi teriyaki chicken which came just grilled… No teriyaki, I had to ask to for the proper sauces that are served at the Clemson location. The vegetables were WAY over cooked and black, I could only eat the two pieces of zucchini and the pieces of onion that still had a crunch, but the majority were limp. The miso soup that comes with the hibachi dinners was stale and had separated, but the ginger salad dressing was delicious, but the salad could have been fresher. My husband and our dinner guest ordered rolls of sushi. In particular my husband had the atomic sushi roll which was not wrapped properly and continued to fall apart with his chopsticks… A disgrace to the elegant cuisine. The waitress was a sweet girl, and deserves to work in an actual restaurant, not this stinky place. The plate-ware and silverware were cheap and chipped. I give this restaurant 1 star… It actually deserves –10 stars… Please don’t eat here. If the restaurant owner happens to read this, PLEASE clean this place up! You can’t have the beautiful location and think that’s it! Wrap your sushi rolls properly! Grill the chicken in teriyaki sauce and don’t OvER grill the vegetables…

We were late for lunch and hungry. There were several cars around this place, how bad can this be? We ordered hamachi karma, hibachi shrimp & New York strip, medium rare. Our waiter, by his own admission was a 2-days-on-the-job veteran. After 45 min, the hamachi came out, burnt blacken on one aide, but white on the other. The New York strip and shrimp were well over well-done but curiously cold. May the line cook is also a 2-day veteran. Another waitress tried to compensate by offering us a free desert. No thanks! We escaped in haste. Should have stuck with junky fast food.

Great service, food, and price. I had the Miso soup, seaweed salad, and a special roll that set me back $ 13, tough to beat that! The view of the lake is also nice for a relaxing evening or lunch by boat.

Love the sushi here. Views are pretty sweet too. I don’t recall all the rolls we tried but the one I can remember is the Top Gun Roll as a previous post has posted a photo of. It is AMAZING! Pretty much anything with BBQ Eel sauce is great in my mind. They also have a roll listed that I’m not seeing listed on the On Line menu but it’s a pretty swanky roll. IIRC it was around $ 42 or so. Consisted of lobster Foi Gras, gold flake and some other crazy stuff. If I could refrain from wanting to order 20 different rolls and just settle on this one, I might one day give it a try. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because we went here on a Sunday. Without fail I always order Saki with sushi. Since it was Sunday they were unable to serve any alcohol :(Now I’m still new to this area but I’m really confused on the whole thing of no alcohol on Sundays at some locations. Just up the street, at a Mexican restaurant they serve beer and margaritas and such on Sunday so not sure why Tokyo Bay was unable. But that’s my issue and something I’ll look into. Service was good, not great but good. Our server I believe was pretty new to this all and wasn’t well versed on the rolls. Again not bad, just inexperienced.

Seems this place runs hot and cold. After a LONG day driving, the wife Unilocal the best places in Anderson and this one comes up. After a week of great Southern(and fried) food, we decided this would be a nice break THAT was a mistake. My wife is a tuna-file when it comes to sushi. After spending over 30 years on the West coast eating great tuna sushi, this was simply put… crap. The tuna wasn’t spoiled, but it WAS beige instead of that nice deep red color we are used to. Since she ordered three items that were ALL raw tuna, she sent it back. Well, first the server comes over, then the wife of the owner, then the owner/chef with his invoices showing how it was delivered that day. The issue, it seems, is that he gets his tuna from Hawaii fresh, so transport to the middle of SC means there might be an issue in that regardt. MAYBE their other cooked items are OK, we do not know, but if you go, stay away from the tuna if you are used to high-grade tuna from Japan

Had friends over from florida and had to take them somewhere nice. Can’t go wrong with sushi, right? So I hop on Unilocal and find the finest sushi place in anderson. Boom! 5 stars here we go: Tokyo Bay! They have a nice looking menu, pictures of the sushi and all. So we order our fish and rice(sushi) and waited for it to arrive. Just about every different roll we ordered was Meh. For example the salmon lovers roll has thick pieces of salmon on it, but has no flavor/taste to it. Each of the rolls we ordered was at least $ 9 and each of them where meh to below average quality sushi(flavor, presentation, and price). Sucks I had to drag my wife, my friend, my friend’s wife and all our kids(4 of em) to this sub-par sushi restaurant. Atleast the kids had good chicken teriyaki but then again kids will eat anything. We tipped the waitress well and will most definitely never go here again. Sorry Tokyo Bay :/

Hopefully this is a one off… Seated outside waited for over five minutes for the server. About to leave when the lady that seated me recognized I had not been served. Ordered kettle one the server told me they don’t have that wine. Then I ordered yaki udon vegetarian and spicy. It arrives garnished with meat and no spice. Went to get a napkin none available had to use the tablecloth. Wanted to speak of my dissatisfaction but the server didn’t return until I flagged her down with my cc. Someone else brought me the check. Both asked me how my meal was and I said just so so. And they both said good! Now I am at the bar for the second drink I wanted with my meal. Not going much better. Editing my review. Lisa the owner just approached me with a copy of my review. She expressed her disappointment and invited me back tomorrow. I agreed so I have changed my rating to my past views and will give a new opinion tomorrow evening. Thank you Lisa. Stay tuned for my flow up. Cheers!

Hands down, the best sushi selection and best sushi in the area. Sushi chefs are fun to talk with while they hand roll. Had a steak sushi that was expensive, but would do it again. Tasted wonderful! Everything we had was great!

We had a number of food selections at the lunch table including sushi, a teriyaki dish, and a seafood noodle soup, and everyone liked what they had. Our waitress was especially helpful and professional. I’m sure we will be back. The place is new and business is picking up.
