WONDERFUL! What a fabulous local gem! We had an incredible server that was friendly, kind and interested in learning about us. The owner came out and chatted with us as well hearing it was our first visit. He was so nice! The food was excellent. I had the sirloin and was blown away about how well it was prepared and how large the portion was. Each side was delicious and can’t believe they are only $ 1.50(2 come with a dinner, but if you ordered extra) Kids meals were great and came with drinks and a dessert. We will return! Love exploring local, family-owned and family-friendly joints and so happy we found a great one!

It’s just OK. Some things are just strange but you take a chance to push the boundaries… unfortunately sometimes they don’t work… Ranch seasoning on quite a few things, seems ok for entertaining guests at home, but misses the mark at a restaurant. I tried a Reuben sandwich. It was edible, but the bread was soggy and the beef was not up to standard. I think we will have to try some other items to see if it works. If it’s on the menu it must be done well. Unfortunately the items we had didn’t quite make the grade. We may give it another shot but in the end, «un inspired» American fare is common, and if it doesn’t excel, there’s always another place down the road…

Good homemade diner style food. Fantastic ribs. Really good burgers. The soups can be hit or miss, but the southwest chicken vegetable soup is seriously delicious. I’m glad we have a good place to eat in Angier!

This was a very good find for us. Love those home made chips. We will be back! My husband had the Carolina classic hamburger and said it was the best he had ever had.

This is a tough review to write because even though there were several things we like about Simon’z, my burger just wasn’t good at all. I’ll start with the positives: fast, family friendly service– our server even brought a couple of puzzles to the table for our 3 year old. Good prices on sandwiches, entrees prices were average. They have karaōke on Friday nights that’s very family friendly– just as many kids as adults singing their hearts out(mainly country– it is Angier, after all). The DJ, John, was awesome and I even felt comfortable enough to sing an old school country song(which the crowd seemed to enjoy, thank you very much!). They only serve beer & wine but there are so few restaurants in Angier that I’m not complaining about that. My husband really enjoyed his cheesesteak, but my burger wasn’t enjoyable. I have a feeling it was the chili on it– it tasted like the canned variety, and not even«top shelf» Texas Pete chili sauce– more like Castleberry’s hot dog sauce. The mashed potatoes & gravy were edible but nothing special. We would probably try it again, but I’d definitely order something else– and I might even sing again on a Friday night!

I had gotten a Living Social deal for Simonz to use when we went to visit the brewery in Angier. I figured we would need some food while we were down that way and it would be nice to try something that wasn’t interstate fast food. Given that the website for Simonz is a little, ummm, retro I wasn’t sure what to expect. Since I missed the photos section on the website I had it in my mind it was more of a bar and grill place, but when we arrived it was more small town café. Our waitress was very nice, especially given that we came in about 30 mins. before they were closing. We started with the sampler appetizer. It’s a choose your own adventure variety so we got the mozzarella sticks, chameleon chips, and fried ranch chips. For the entrée I had the stuffed pork chop and Mrs. B had the Olé Time Favorite Panini. With a little left to meet the LS amount we did dessert and went for the peach crisp. Everything was very good although I wished my garlic spinach side would have had a bit more garlic flavor. All in all it was a good dining experience. We even got to test/expand our trivia knowledge with the Trivial Pursuit cards on the table. We both agreed a return visit would be in order the next time we visit Angier.

I was thrilled to find Simon’z restaurant in Angier. I was looking for a place to take my staff for a lunch birthday party, and I found this quaint restaurant. The lunch menu is basically burgers, sandwiches, paninis, and salads. We had some homemade chicken and rice soup, and that was a great start. Lots of flavor. My two coworkers had the grilled bacon and cheese sandwich, and I had the Cuban. The Cuban was probably one of the best I’ve had. The panini was crunchy on the outside and full of flavor inside. It came with homemade chips and ranch dressing… yum. I would definitely go back for lunch… probably try dinner, too.

After reading reviews we were kinda skeptical about this place but some friends gave us rave reviews of this place so we took a chance. The place is very quaint and pleasent. The service was awesome. Our waitress Emily was so sweet and helpful. Glen the owner is a very nice and accomodating. I had the cuban sandwitch and the tortilla soup. It is the closest I have come to an authentic cuban sandwitch from Miami. Yum. The soup was awesome with plenty of chicken. We also had the fried pickles that were very good. Next time we go we are doing kareoke on Friday nights. Btw kids eat free on Tuesday nights. Not sure why the negative reviews but I’m going back cause its all good. Glad we took a chance.

I am new to Unilocal, but I had to combat the only other reviewer of Simon’z. First of all, her review came in 2010 when the restaurant was still new and perhaps her New York style didn’t mesh with small town life. My family and I have come to know the owners of Simon’z and consider ourselves family. But, we’re not suckers. If the food or service is lacking, we give constructive criticism to the chef face-to-face and he does all he can to make it right. This is a small town restaurant with food that is prepared as carefully and tastefully as I’ve ever experienced. Just about every item on the menu is «A Taste of Fresh» … all the dressings are created in the kitchen, the burgers are to die for and they are all treated with special spices and as the restaurant has grown in popularity in the 2 years since the previous reviewer, the burgers are rarely, if ever, frozen. Simon’z ribs are the ONLY ribs I will ever eat … the BBQ sauce is amazing and the specialty sandwiches are all fantastic. The wait staff is helpful, kind, and efficient. My husband works nearby and eats their nearly everyday and my son, husband and I go at least once or twice a week … we usually will bring friends along, too. Simon’z is a family restaurant, for sure … because when we go there, we feel that we are part of the family … you can be, too! If you go as a group, call ahead. If you are a group of 8 and you know you all want ribs, let them know. They DO take reservations, especially for large groups and would welcome you. This gives them the opportunity to get extra help in, if necessary.

I love Simon’z. The chief calls his food the taste of fresh and it is. He buys much of his meats and vegetables locally and nothing is ever frozen. The dinning rooms are beautiful and the staff is always attentive. I love the shrimp with blackened rice and they have the best green beans around. It’s a great place for a quick bite or a family get together. If you haven’t tried it yet, you are missing out! Kimball S.

Oh where to begin? We made a special reservation for a party of ten with the owner for a special occasion. When we arrived, we told the hostess we had made a reservation and she said they don’t take reservations. They were not prepared for us even though we had spoken on the phone with the owner a few times prior regarding our party. The main dining room was empty, but instead of seating us there, they put us in a private room at a table that looked like something you’d put flea market goods on – with no table cloth. The food was almost inedible. We ordered a spinach dip appetizer that was like frozen spinach with cheese melted on top of it. Two of the party ordered a vegetable pasta dish that actually had raw spinach leaves sticking out the sides of the bowl. The chicken soup(of the day) was gelatinous. As if the food and atmosphere weren’t bad enough, the service was awful. The waitress was rude and monopolized our party time telling her life story. She was also flustered and got annoyed when we were deciding seating arrangements. The ten of us still joke about the«unique» experience. Basically, Simon’z suckz.
