My husband and I were extremely impressed! They cut steaks and pork chops to your liking and cut them in front of you. My ground chuck was ground fresh as well. I buy the bundles. Great prices and the best freshest meat I have ever bought. No more grocery store meat for me! Oh, and you have to try the bacon burger, and there bacon! Mmmmm!

Looking for meat that isn’t straight out of the freezer of the local grocery store,? The Country Store might be able to help. It’s clearly a meat shop, although other items are available, it’s obvious this is a country store, not a full-fledged supermarket. When entering, straight ahead in the back is the meat section, with the item and prices written on the glass. It’s easy to read. To the right is a cooler with hot dogs, pork lard, some sausage and cheese, most of which is local. There’s a small pantry of dry goods and condiments, with plenty of local bbq sauce options. There’s a separate cooler of fish, not the pre-formed packaged kind, either. The meat counter is impressive. There were a couple of different kinds of ground meat and bacon, some already cut chicken, and pork and beef selections that can be cut to order. When I couldn’t quite make up my mind, I was offered some suggestions based on the occasion, and the suggestions weren’t always toward the most expensive cuts. Although this is a small shop, they have everything you’ll need in the way of meat or fish or chicken for a single meal, or a party. You’ll have plenty of money left over to pick up the accompaniments and extras at the farmers market or roadside stands on the way back home. If you’re in the area, it’s worth a visit.

We love the fresh meat and be able to get the exact thickness we want. Everything we have tried so far has been excellent. Well worth the drive.

As we were wrapping up at the Bitter Melon Kitchen and Market we were told to check out Sunni’s and The Country Store. After Sunni’s we walked next door to The Country Store. What looked like an unassuming converted gas station is now a well maintained, very clean butcher shop. We walked to the back and looked at their offerings. We picked up two inch and a half thick rib eyes(2.33lbs) a pound of apple wood smoked bacon, and 2 lbs of ground while you wait 80⁄20(ish) beef for a total price of about 30 bucks. Had we purchased this meat from Whole foods we’d have spent 30 bucks on the steaks alone and that wouldn’t have included the bacon or the ground beef. If I’m ever in the area I’ll be picking up as much as I can. I didn’t get a chance to ask about volume purchases and discounts but I will next time I come through. Service was courteous, professional and attentive. In addition to the beef they have pork and chicken also at great prices. They have some seasonings and BBQ sauces as it appears that this store caters to the grilling and smoking crowd. They had some produce — potatoes and onions and I believe peppers. If you’re down this way and need some meat — stop by the guys at The Corner Store.
