My husband and I went to Kyle’s bikes upon a doctor’s recommendation that I get new running shoes. The staff know their stuff. They will put you on a treadmill and watch how you run then analyze your gait and determine what shoes would work best for you. They even recommended a different size than the one I’ve been wearing for seven years. I actually went to this store a few months ago. The reason I waited so long to write a review is that these have been the best pair of running shoes I own. I’m not a serious runner — I only hit about 5 – 9 miles per week; however, I will be sticking with this style of shoe. Did I mention I’ve dropped my 2 mile time by over two minutes? That’s training AND equipment. And thanks for the military discount!

I’m from out state and was in town for business and riding RAGBRAI at the end of the week. I had my bike tuned up back home before driving out. However on a ride last night I learned the hard way that my front derailure must have gotten bumped during all the handling and ride from Ohio and was badly out of alignment. I called the shop and explained my situation. They were able to get me right in(even though they were busy). Turned out to just need some minor adjustments. They also adjusted my brakes while they had it. Best $ 21 and 20 minutes I’ve spent in a long time. I wish I had a local bike shop like this in Columbus. Great job!

I purchased a bicycle for my girlfriend at Kyle’s Bikes. They were very helpful and understanding of exactly what we were looking for and really know their stuff. Kyle personally fit every adjustment to fit the new bike to fit her. I was impressed by the way they all seem to really like their work. It makes purchasing much more fun when you feel like the people enjoy helping you rather than acting like you are a pain in the rear. Great place!!!

Looks like a great bike shop, and very helpful staff, but the do NOTRENTBIKES — despite what the ad says in Unilocal. They sent me to a gentleman who rents Surley Pugsley bikes from his home, at(515) 494‑4617, which worked out great. It is very hard to rent a bike in the winter in Des Moines, but thanks to the helpful staff at Kyle’s, it turned into a great day.

I have been to Kyle’s twice when I was in town visiting family. The first time I went in to get analyzed for sneakers on their treadmill, and had a great experience. The woman doing my analysis was super nice, friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with me. The second time I went in to look at bikes, and a guy named Wayne or Wade helped me, he was incredible. SUper nice, super knowledgable, not pushy at all, really knew how to fit a person to the right bike. I purchased a Specialized bike which I LOVE, got it at a decent price point. This place is generally pretty busy and does a great business, and it should, since it is AWESOME. Wish they would clone themseives and head to Colorado.

I will admit I went to Kyle’s for the first time because I needed new running shoes and I came across a Groupon. Even after I bought the Groupon, I kept thinking to myself, «I live in Des Moines, why am I going to drive all the way to Ankeny to buy shoes!!!» I even got lost once I got to Ankeny. However, it was all worth it. Bill was extremely helpful, didn’t rush me, or try to sell me a flashy, trendy shoe I didn’t need. He explained my pronation, gave me advice on shin splints, instructed me on how to improve my gait, and told me to run a mile or two on a treadmill in the shoes and return them if need be. I live on the west side of Des Moines and I will go back to Ankeny Groupon or no Groupon, that says it all.
