Went there for the first time this morning. Always skeptical of getting Phở at a restaurant at 10:30am. Always want to give it time to marinate to obtain the most savory flavor. The restaurant was very well kept up. The service was also excellent. She was very timely and attentive. Ordered Vietnamese eggrolls, spring rolls, and #8 phở. Eggrolls were very crispy, packed with meat and a good savory flavor. Spring rolls were tightly rolled and tasted fresh. The phở was the main dish, and definitely didnt disappoint. Hard to explain, but it was very fresh; and was just very clean all around. The broth was probably one of the best Ive had. Very savory, full of flavor(some broths are very bland). From noodles to the beef, and down to the last bean sprouts and thai basil. Everything was fresh. Plan on going back!

A much needed Vietnamese restaurant in Ankeny. Good food at a reasonable price. There are a few places in des moines I think I might prefer more, but this place compares well considering this one is the only one in the area. If you go here, I’d say to stick to the phở/other Viet dishes. I tried pad thai here and didn’t enjoy it at all. If you want thai food, I’d say go to Thai Flavors which is just a few minutes away.

Pretty tasty phở and vermicelli pork/shrimp and egg roll dish here. Lots of flavor and enough meat in both dishes. I usually get a phở but decided to try something different. I did taste the phở broth and it was flavorful. My dish came with alot of vermicelli noodles and pork, shrimp, and egg rolls. I enjoyed it and scarfed it down. My iced coffee was also good. Though it didn’t fill up my entire glass like other restaurants. Overall, good food in a clean establishment.

First timer. Other Asians here, that’s legit. Space is standard, clean«Asian-Décor». The big plus for me is the multiple transition images on the walls. Most reviewers seem talk about the TV’s versus the transition art on the wall. Classic mistake of most novice reviewers. The wall art is an important piece of my visual palette. Ordered: Wantons + Large Rare Steak Phở Three size options available(s, m, l) Broth is suh dew! Sweet, well seasoned, silky mouth feel from the meat fat, hints of citrus and ginger, heavy brown meat flaves, abundant onions and meat, dark in color, thin rice noodles and a generous helping of steak. It’s real good. Definitely the best around DSM/Ankeny for a hearty flavored Phở. If you are looking for a more simple and bland Phở, I’m sure some suburban Ankeny mom can hook you up with that can of Cambell’s you deserve. Staff is wonderful. Eat here.

Was in Ankeny today and wanted to try something different for lunch. Pho85 popped up on my Unilocal so I decided to give it a try and THANKGOODNESS I DID!!! We started with some steamed pork dumplings. They offer pork, veggie and maybe another kind of dumpling can’t really remember, all of them either steamed or fried. Always go with the steamed!!! They were amazing. So much flavor, super super soft and the dipping sauce was totes delicious. I could of ordered 2 more plates and just eaten those for lunch. After the dumplings we each had a bowl of Phở. They offer small medium and large sizes. Bowls are displayed up on a shelf so you can see for yourself how big they are. The small size was perfect for having an app before hand. I had the chicken and the bf had the steak and meatball. Add a little jalapeño and some lime, couple bean sprouts and just a couple drops of the dumpling dipping sauce(just for shits and giggles) and I practically devoured the entire bowl. They offer other house specialties as well like your traditional sesame chicken and different varieties of fried rice. And other noodle dishes but I was too stuffed to keep going. I’ll be making several trips back to try it all, that’s for sure. They do have a couple tvs, today though all were on the CNN channel. Considering everything that’s going on in the world today maybe CNN wasn’t the best choice. Put all that sad news together with the very somber and somewhat depressing music that was playing and you’ll find yourself struggling to not just drown away your sorrows in your big bowl of phở. And who would want to waste the phở!!! Over all I give this place two huge thumbs up and I will for sure be back. Hopefully next time there’s something else on tv.

Our favorite place in Ankeny. We come here every time on the way to des moines. The restaurant is very clean and comfortable with soft music and tv. The food is great too. They have the best phở that i have ever had. The service is good. They can recognize us and know our preference every time. Highly recommend!

We just moved to Des Moines from Denver. My husband and I were not optimistic about finding another Phở place that was anywhere close to as good as ours in Denver. After trying several other Phở places that were just not up to par, we started getting discouraged. Then we found this gem! The service was quick, and the phở was incredible! So much flavor, and everything you want in a bowl of phở. I got the #2, which was the rare steak and well done brisket. My husband got the same. We also split the tofu summer rolls. They gave typical phở portions(if you’re used to typical phở portions), and were prompt on drink refills. Also, their hot tea was loose leaf jasmine. My favorite! Will definitely be back!

Delicious! Ordered the kids size chicken phở(still a bit too much for one sitting!). Crab Rangoon is also very tasty! Good prices for good portions!

Have been to Phở 85 multiple times and always get the rare steak phở and pork spring rolls. Has been excellent every time. Service is very prompt and extremely nice. Have tried phở at 5 or 6 places in the DSM area, and this is as good if not better than any of the others. Clean, quiet and inviting. I do wish they would try another tv channel aside from ABC though!

I always order their phở and every time it has been excellent. One of my top 2 out of all the Des Moines area phở places. The broth for any combination is always flavorful and never water downed. The staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive. The shrimp spring rolls are great, egg rolls are just okay. Whenever I order takeout the girl at the front always remembers to put the chili oil peppers and extra limes in mine without me asking. I might venture and try out their other dishes but the phở is just so good! New note: I’ve now tried their rice with Korean BBQ beef and it’s very flavorful and filling. The shrimp tempura wasn’t real tempura more like shrimp egg rolls. I was expecting actual tempura batter so that was a little disappointing.

Good food. Staff is kinda just there, but the menu speaks for itself. You won’t be disappointed and I am/was a fat guy who knows food. ;)

Always quick and good quality phở — not watered down and flavorless like some. Great option for takeout as well. Friendly staff.

Wow! I love this place! I came in and was seated fast. I even received my food less than a few min after ordering. It was well worth it! The soup was so flavorful. It was a party in my mouth! The price is pretty decent! Overall come here! It so so so worth it!

Unfortunately we really did not enjoy our meal. I had never had phở before, but I’ve heard raving reviews. One day I decided it was time to try this new cuisine. I should have played it safe as I felt really uneasy from all of the menu descriptions. Rare steak and tripe should have been signs to me that I was out of my league. I decided on the«well done brisket» noodle soup. The brisket was fatty, and as picky as I am with beef I really didn’t care for the flavor of the meat. I tried to mask the harsh beef flavor with all of the accompaniments they proved. Sadly, I couldn’t get through much of it. I immediately realized that I made a bad choice for my taste buds and food preferences. I also decided to try a hyped mango«bubble» tea with boboa. These are not like the little pearls you get with your fro yo. They were off-putting and chewy. I avoided them entirely. My boyfriend got the pad thai, which he said was just ok. I tried a bite and found it to have a strange, tangy flavor. Maybe my taste buds were off this day. I don’t forsee us going back for a second try.

Water was here before I even pulled my chair out to sit down!!! Staff is super friendly and this place is very clean! A decent sized lunch crowd was here so you know it’s good! Waited about 5 minutes for my food to arrive. Ordered brisket phở and shrimp and pork spring rolls with boba tea/bubble tea! Pork and shrimp spring rolls were amazing and super fresh. Pork was crisp and dipping sauce was great!!! Phở was super flavorful and broth was amazing! Brisket was super tender! Peach boba tea smoothie was very good! Would recommend if you have never tried it!!! There was classical music playing which made my food coma worse. But hey it was well worth it!!! Great for a quick lunch I was in and out of here in about 30 mins.

Pretty standard Asian Phở restaurant, offers the usual Vietnamese dishes. Calm atmosphere and never too busy. Food is good, same as most Phở places, nothing extraordinary. I have tried the Phở, Bun Mi sandwiches, and most appetizers from here and they are all good as other Asian restaurants. The staff is very friendly, not a long wait for the food to come out. Large parking lot for easy parking. Been here multiple times and also have ordered takeout. I have not yet tried their delivery service This is my go to Phở restaurant in town!
