I wandered over to this place because of an awesome Unilocal event, and man was it the coolest place ever! Hidden beyond the Ann Arbor Airport within some office buildings, I would’ve never known. The owner was one of the people to help us along with some of her buddies, I had no idea what I was getting myself into! Everything was amazing, from the lyra to the silk hammock to the trapeze to the hula hoops and so on. I felt comfortable(at least my anxiety level) with each activity as the staff were friendly, welcoming, patient, and very good at what they do. Now, the positions and use of the materials aren’t super comfortable feeling wise, it was more than worth it. I can definitely see myself coming back in the future to take some sort of class, as it’s very extensive! They have a great website that features all the activities we tried but also adult beginner ballet and even burlesque! Good workout, great fun!

First class studio with first class trainers. The A2 Aviary has something for everyone! You can get in the air with aerial classes using silks, lyra, and trapeze or you can stay grounded with yoga, hula hoop, hand balance, as well as a variety of conditioning classes. Depending on the day you could even do both. If you are looking to have fun and get fit doing it, this is the place. All fitness levels welcome. Top notch trainers can work with whatever you bring to the table.

THISPLACEROCKS. First things first, it can be difficult to find. If you are coming down S State street(from downtown Ann Arbor), you’ll hit a rotary. Go straight through the rotary until you see the sign for a self storage company. The gym is in the offices next door. I am not a professional by any stretch of the imagination but went to an intro static trapeze course with a friend. Everyone was super nice and it’s obvious that they feel passionate about their craft. Liz, who taught our class is so graceful and makes every move look effortless but is still very patient when her students fall a little short of her example(hopefully not to the ground). Word to the wise — they say to wear close Fitting clothes that cover knees, waist and upper arms. DOTHAT. Maybe throw in a unitard or a second pair of yoga pants because, ouch, the bruises come fast and easy. I’m not saying battle wounds are bad, but give yourself some extra padding, especially if you’re not used to wrapping a trapeze around your leg!
