Between 12 – 12:30pm on weekdays, you can go up and give it a tour.

When you’re walking across the diag, or on Main Street, and you hear bells, somebody is playing the carillon in Burton Tower. It doesn’t play like a wind-​up music box – somebody has to go to the keyboard and play it.
The tower is one of my favorite landmarks, because not every city has one. Not even every university.
I think the carillon could use a better playlist, with some top 40 attention-​getters, and some upbeat oldies, like for instance «Hey Ya!,» by Outkast. Having 50 tons of bells doesn’t mean you can only play church music.
