First, I’d like to emphasize that his support staff is wonderful. I cannot fault his support staff for why I am writing a one star review. There’s a certain stereotype that chiropractors are quacks. Dan Geck lives up to this stereotype. When he just focuses on being a chiropractor; he is OK. The problem is that he doesn’t want to just be your chiropractor, he wants to replace your doctor. Well if your doctor believed everything that he read on the Internet, he’d be your doctor. Initially he’ll focus on adjustments but then the real sales pitch starts. First, he’ll suggest you get blood work done for nutrition. I didn’t ever get this done but in his waiting room I saw a general trend among anyone that started nutrition treatments with him. First, they all had some type of thyroid problem. Second, they all apparently«needed» 75 to 125 dollars worth of nutritional supplements a month. On a few occasions it was clear that his nutritional patients were sacrificing essentials to pay for these«medicine». Finally, several of these patients would eventually be pushed to stop taking medications(such as heart medications). At one point, he attempted to suggest that I may have a food allergy because he was waving a bottle over a muscle and it was«weak». I think he forgot that practices like Applied Kinesiology only work if both parties believe it will. The last straw was that he basically told me that I would not«get better» if I didn’t open my mind up to alternative treatments. The latest and greatest trend he was excited about at that moment was using lasers to «correct DNA». He handed me a laughable printout that contained such statements like«Traumas change your DNA» and«Faulty DNA can be corrected through laser treatment». The only factual statement was that the device was FDA certified(for acute pain that may occur in dental treatment). Now if you believe that vaccinations cause autism, high school biology classes were lying to you and people can be «allergic» to electromagnetic waves; he’s your guy. Just a warning, if his office gets your contact information; they won’t honor your communication preferences. I think the office recently upgraded their management software and it completely lost my preferences to NEVER be contacted again.

Long story short, best doc I have ever encountered in this field with efficient technique that you can notice the result right after with doc’s muscle testing. Lucid explanations when you ask him your problem on body’s physiology. The most important thing is he is specialize in AMIT technique, which to my understanding is a technique to recover the muscle strength with the requirement of very strong understanding of muscle physiology by the practitioner. A 15 mins appointment can fix one muscle and a chiropractic adjustment. I have experienced several different ways of chiropractic adjustments, not to mention the Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that very very few people know in East Asia, and I am lucky to happen to know one of these practitioner in Taiwan. I think the common problem with those chiro adjustments is that with muscle not holding, the posture of the body can’t hold. So every time when you are out from the adjustment you feel great, but the next day you feel the same as before adjustment. And after those adjustments, the docs will tell you that you need to do exercise to train your muscle to gain back the strength. But I felt weird on my posture during those training, cause simply because muscle not holding right. And I just didn’t feel like I am doing the exercise in correct posture. Anyway, Dr. Geck is the best doc in chiro industry I have met. His method really make sense in a logical way(I’m getting a master in electrical engineering.) He is able to give you a clear detailed answer if you got question for him about your body posture. A week ago when I got a really bad cold and just kind of chatting with him about it, he immediately diagnosis me with energetics(I believe he uses method from energetics science to detect the weak park of your body during treatment, and I know these stuff prior visiting Dr. Geck.) and suggest me some natural supplements which really helps on my recovery. Ironically, I went to the UM family medicine doc located at University Health Service a week prior when my condition was even worse. That doc was nice and took about 30 mins on diagnosing my problem in a private room with the conclusion of «I’m getting better, everything seems fine.» I was very surprise she didn’t assign me any ibuprofen.

Dr. Geck is thorough and effective. I’ve been seeing him consistently for a few months now. I’ve seen many chiros before and he is pretty good. Not the best but certainly not the worst either. He’s also a really nice guy. He’s quite different from most chiropractors in that he won’t do an xray on the intiial evaluation. This is actually better for you because xrays simply confirm what doctors can assess from a manual exam. He does a lot of muscle work(for additional charge), He’s the same as most chiropractors in that he does care a lot about the billable hour. I had questions about my pain and I wanted to know what kind of exercises I could do to help ease the pain. He was helpful during the first visit but less and less so after subsequent visits. All in all though, I would say give him a shot!
