Nice renovation, but food is just good, but I’m from Toronto so I might be a snob. Moo Shu pork pancakes were flour tortillas not authentic, but the sweet and sour shrimp, Mongolian beef, and inclusion of oranges with the fortune cookies were all quite nice.

It was a good place. Ever since it doubles the seats, waitress is so hard to reach. The can leave you there not taking order not bringing water for 10 mins after you seated. Even you catch someone passing by, she won’t help because it’s not her table. Been treated like this more than once. Very unhappy.

This place has delicious food, high quality every time! From the jasmine tea to the vegetarian dumplings, hot sour/egg drop soup and szechuan noodles, it was all very flavorful and well prepares. And their ambiance is so nice, modern, and clean.

Food was warm/luke warm/cold including soup. No soy sauce provided on tables — have to request it. No sauce provided with spring roll which contained mostly cabbage. Spare rib dish was served cold and consisted of 90% fat. Removed 1 hair from tofu dish. Interior décor has been updated but the old restaurant’s food was much better than this.

I’ve been coming here since, well it seems like forever. I’ve always loved the little hole in the wall that it was, now, just WOW! It looks great now, taking over the next shop space and remodeling has really brought it to a new level. We got take out last night, I was surprised that they now have two menus, one in English(black edge) and one in Chinese(green edge). It really makes room in the menu having it separate like that, no more doubling up with English and Chinese for each item. I was looking for the Kung Pao chicken and didn’t see it on the menu. I saw a dish that was spicy chicken with peanuts, so I ordered that. It turns out that the dish I ordered wasn’t Kung Pao, it didn’t have the sauce on it, it was more of a «dry rub» type spicing to it than sauce. I was pleasantly surprised by this, because I had been thinking that I didn’t want a lot of sauce on my food after all the holiday food I ate the past few days. It was great, I will definitely get that again. Also while waiting for the order, we were watching the game on the TV they have over the bar. Cool new bar and huge TV! I can’t wait to come back and eat here.

I have to be honest it’s not really authentic. Part of the dish is salty and part of it is bland. The waitress is very rude because we did not order many. I was kinda surprise they actually respond my review. I went back couple times and the food is getting better and better. I have never seen that waitress again and the service is actually nicer.

Best Chinese restaurant ever in Ann Arbor. I spent years in Ann Arbor, as a Chinese, I would say this is one of the most authentic Chinese restaurant in the larger area, and the best in town. So that every time I went back to Ann Arbor, I elk definitely go there for the taste from my home country. And I saw someone gave a really low score and evaluation, which I can only say sorry. And I need to point out one thing we will never order«Panda Express» like– twisted Chinese food.

I went there couple of times, the food just ok, but I notice food quality is not constant, you order a lamb noodle soup and the soup is more on a cold side or barely warm up, i think the owner is cheap on saving electricity bill. Another thing is how could you order the same stuff, and it looks and taste different? Regardless it is more pricey for small portion of food, I don’t think the it is authentic Chinese food. It is made for non-chinese customer.

This very authentic restaurant recently went through a major expansion and remodel and obtained a liquor license. The food ranges from Hunan, Cantonese, szechuan and Mongolian. The combo dishes include soup and appetizer. The full features a full range of wine and mixed drinks etc. It is very clean and parking is a snap. Where they miss the beat is the service which is subpar. The dishes dont always come out together and then often forget even the most basic things like taking a drink order and bringing out a side of rice which is standard. My food today was cold and our guests received their dishes ten minutes after I got mine.

Until today I would have given 4 or 5 stars. I’ve been coming here since high school and only had good food but the customer service has never been great. Today I brought up a problem I’d experienced with a delivery order and they refused to do anything to honor it. No discount, nothing. So I won’t be coming back. Very sad but valuing customers is a basic thing and I want to spend my money in a place that cares about their customers.

I travel to Ann Arbor a few times each year. I used to think evergreen was okay but it seems like each successive time I go back, it’s worse and worse. Do NOT order squid or scallops at this restaurant. Both are completely tasteless. The texture is almost there but there is no flavor. The fried salt and pepper shrimp is a better choice. The special dumplings are not very good. I need to find a different Chinese restaurant in Ann Arbor. This one is not cutting it.

Randomly decided to go here since we needed a place close to north campus to eat. I didn’t realize they had completely renovated — the new interior looks amazing for a Chinese restaurant. They had way too much stuff on the menu, and my Chinese sucks, so I just ask the waitresses what’s most popular, and they’ve mentioned the jalapeño beef, beef and onions, sichuan fish soup, pork with bamboo, san bei ji, and la zi ji ding. Pork with bamboo — it’s decent. I might order it again if I go in a group, but I’d prefer to try out something else. It’s mostly dry tofu, then pork, then bamboo. San bei ji — what? This is SO different from any san bei ji I’ve ever had, but it was surprisingly good in it’s own way. Would order again Sichuan fish soup(I got the one with tofu added) — SOGOOD. Would order again and again. I freeze the soup and slowly cook it in batches over the next week with tofu that I buy from the grocery store. Not sure if I prefer Chia Shiang’s fish soups or Evergreen’s. Beef and onions — meh. It’s beef and onions. and it’s nice? But there’s not too much potential for a dish like this. I do think they are slightly pricy for the amount of food(minus the fish soup — I can make multiple meals off that, so no complaints).

Finally went back to this place after the renovated. They’ve really expanded and the places looks great with it’s new bar. If you are looking for decent Chinese food, this is one of the better places around. It has a decent vibe for a date with your significant other and has a good list of American flavored Chinese food and traditional(there’s a ton if variety regarding animal intestine if you like that). However, as someone who really enjoys traditional Chinese food, I was a bit disappointed. Many of the dishes lack the authentic Chinese flavor and sometimes very bland, like the Beijing noodles. Their eggplant is rock solid though, with a zesty sauce that leaves you craving more as well as the scallion pancakes. So from a food perspective, given their broad menu, I give them a 3.5 stars. The service at this restaurant is atrocious. When asking about dishes, very little is explained which make it difficult to figure out what to order on their massive menu. Expect only one glass of water during your meal as they will take your whole meal to refill it, even when asking. Especially sad since they weren’t busy when we went. All in all the food is on the better side for Chinese in town, but I would order take out.

Never again!!! Pass this restaurant in a hurry. I recently moved back to the A2 area and was out house shopping with my mother and we drove past Evergreen. I used to eat there all the time in the early 2000’s, the food was decent. Now the interior is nice and the food and the wait staff are HORRIBLE!!! We sat down and ordered two shrimp Pad Tai, an order of spring rolls and egg drop soup with crispy noodles. We ate the rolls and the soup came out. Yuck. It was extremely thick and the crispy noodles were extremely stale. We sat it to the side and awaited the main dish. The dish was presented and then we both took a bite and immediately regretted placing the fork into our mouths. It was rancid and tasted like a can of Guinness beer was poured on top to cover up the old rancid fish. The fish was so spoiled it was falling apart. You could pick up the entire noodle dish with your fork. We decided quickly that we couldn’t eat the meal and very politely asked the waitress to remove the uneaten items and we would pay and leave. She proceeded to angry inform me of what it’s supposed to taste like, as if I don’t make this dish myself or have ever eaten it before. She angrily left and came back with a lowered bill but didn’t remove the stale crispy noodles or congealed soup. At this point I wasn’t going to give her a heart attack over three more dollars. I put the money on the slip and she picked it up and proceeded to yell in the restaurant about needing more money. I actually over paid by 75 cents so I calmly told her to check her math. I asked her three times to tell me how much money she had in her hand and how much was the bill. She was too busy creating a scene to count the cash correctly. At this point I wanted to talk with a manager. He was nice yet only spoke to praise his restaurant and bash the waitresses English speaking skills, blaming her behavior on miscommunication. I am totally appalled at the treatment my mother and I received at this establishment. Sadly to say this A2 staple has fallen from its pedestal and I will never return.

I now have a new Chinese restaurant to go to on North Campus during my lunch breaks. A lot of people are hesitant to try Evergreen because it’s located in the corner of a relatively empty looking strip mall or they remember the cramped atmosphere prior to their renovations. However, they have definitely improved since my last visit many years ago. Atmosphere: 5⁄5 The place looks beautiful and the plates and food presentation is on par. The bathrooms are also very clean which I know is usually a concern for Chinese restaurants. The service is also very friendly though they may be a bit timid due to English not being their first language. Do note that groups and families tend to eat here so it can get quite noisy! Food: 4⁄5 The food is better quality than other Chinese restaurants but it isn’t that special either. I got their Curry Chicken lunch combo which comes with a spring roll and salad and it was quite filling. Price: 3.5÷5 When comparing against other Chinese restaurants nearby, an $ 8.50 lunch combo seems expensive when compared to a $ 6-$ 7.50 alternative.

I’m really disappointed to be posting such a low rating. I’ve been going to evergreen since I was a little girl, going on more than ten years now. And they have always been hit or miss but lately it’s been more miss than hit. They just redid the restaurant and it looks phenomenal but unfortunately the food hasn’t gotten a face lift and in my opinion it’s gone a little down hill. And they’ve raised the price, which I understand but if you expect me to pay more you better be providing quality product. Their staff is almost always very nice and attentive but the last few times the waitress gave us our food and didn’t come back except to give us the check. I used to say evergreen was my favorite Chinese restaurant in Ann Arbor but that is definitely not the case anymore!

Ambiance is amazing. As someone who frequents Chinese restaurants, I am thoroughly impressed by the interior design of this place. It’s modern, sleek, and clean, with tables and booths of all different sizes. The food is great as well. They have 2 menus here– one for Chinese-speaking visitors and one for non-natives. So you can imagine the enormous range of food here. As I glanced around the restaurant, I saw plates of orange chicken and fried spring rolls at some tables, and plenty of authentic Chinese dishes at others. I ordered the eggplant, spicy lamb, and some seafood/veggies over crispy rice dish, all of which were delicious. I believe everyone will be able to find something here that will fit their palate. This has quickly become one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Ann Arbor, and I definitely will be visiting again!

Evergreen recently remodeled. While still open in the old location, they were able to renovate the space next door adding modern décor and a nice bar. The new space looks great! It’s very open with a lot of seating and light. My only«complaints» are that, well, it looks just like any modern bar/restaurant in Ann Arbor. There’s nothing about this space that says«hey, we’re a Chinese restaurant». The open space also means the dining area is a bit noisy but it’s not too bad. With all that said, the renovation/expansion is only half done. The owners now plan to renovate the old space allowing for even more room. The new bar and liquor license add much more to the dining experience. I’m not certain but it seems they also updated the menu. They now have a traditional Chinese menu along with the old menu. Everything looks and tastes good. I’d give it 3.5 stars if Unilocal allowed half stars.

When you move to a new place the ideal thing to do is embrace, embrace, embrace. It’s your new home and you just have to deal. Unfortunately, very often this means if things aren’t so great, like maybe the food, you also must deal. Not so at Evergreen thankfully enough. After months and months of miss, miss, and more miss, I think I’ve finally found a place comparable to home as far as Chinese Food. This coming from someone who lived not 20 minutes away, by train, from one of the country’s largest, most exciting, and not to mention delicious China Towns. Anytime I walk in here, within minutes I am walking out with what I know is going to be some delicious wonton soup, and sesame, general, or orange chicken. I know the crab rangoon is going to be awesome and perfectly fried. I’m beginning to wonder how tasty their authentic fare is, because they’ve definitely gotten American just right. I’ve only ordered take out from here a handful of times(haven’t sat in just yet), but I am never disappointed. It’s the only place I order from when I’m craving such food.

My Chinese wife and I decided to come here for dinner on an early-Saturday evening. As a common American with a greasy diet, all I usually want from a Chinese restaurant is spicy chicken – just a load of fried chicken with dried peppers and maybe peanuts and potatoes. I don’t want seaweed, steamed anything, weird slimy sauces, or green stalks of mystery. Their menu online revealed they had spicy chicken(辣子鸡丁), so off we went to Evergreen. When we arrived, we were the only people in there, and it was eerily quiet, with the servers and other workers just kind of sitting around. The waitress who served us was quick but not very good with her English. I ordered spicy chicken, and my wife ordered whatever. In my opinion, my meal was sub-par. The platter I received had really small, albeit numerous, chunks of chicken and what seemed like a copious amount of diced peppers. It was an assortment of vegetable: red and green peppers, dried peppers, crunchy orange things, and celery. It was $ 11.99 for my plate. It was good, although only moderately spicy. It seemed hard to pick out the chicken pieces in the plate. The server was good. I was afraid I would run out of Sprite and have nothing left to drink, but she came over with great timing, even as other patrons started filling the restaurant. Our service was very good, and we were in and out within an hour.
