Love love love the Hillel Café! Chef Emil is a master in the kitchen and always coming up with creative and delicious concoctions. The staff is very friendly and happy to accommodate special needs or requests. As the only Kosher café in the county, they have quite the job to service not only the UM campus community, but the Ann Arbor community too. I appreciate that its open to the public and provides catering services as well.

I always enjoyed coming to the Hillel Café for fresh, unique and delicious kosher dishes! The menu changes everyday, which Chef Emil posts online. You can join the Hillel meal plan, or pay with blue bucks, credit card or cash!

Easily the highest quality food in Ann Arbor for the lowest price. Chef Emil serves at least 4 creative and hearty dishes every day for lunch and dinner. The menu changes every night, and usually includes a meat, chicken, and fish option. This is not a full service restaurant. You can pick up your food from the window in the basement of the Hillel building and either eat at Hillel, or take home to enjoy. You can even take it home and tell your friends you made it! Either way, you are sure to enjoy some delicious, inventive, locally sourced food.

The Hillel Café is an amazing place to eat! I would eat here everyday if I could. I always have a hard time deciding what to eat because there are so many choices that sound delicious. Some of my favorite dishes at the Hillel Café are the salmon with orange glaze, portabella mushroom, falafel, and pastas, but my all-time favorite is the lamb burger. Your choice of soup, salad or fresh fruit is served with every meal and the desserts served with dinner are so yummy. When Chef Emil says the food is served in «frat boy portions» he’s not lying! I never knew kosher food could be so good.

The food at Hillel Café is very good. Every day, the menu is updated with new, creative dishes. Chef Emil is passionate about local, fresh, seasonal foods — and that’s what inspires his cooking. I won’t recommend any single dish, because the menu changes every day. I love how broad the offerings are — from exotic international foods to Jewish comfort-food staples like chicken soup and brisket. For less adventurous eaters, there are always simple deli options available at lunchtime. The café is located inside Hillel’s building. Go through the front door, walk through the lobby area, and head downstairs. Or just follow your nose to the delicious smells! One caveat: it’s a casual, no-frills dining room — so go somewhere else for date night.
