Discovering Maker Words was like discovering a long lost part of me. Here I could finally make what I dreamed. It has the tools, the expert advice, and the space to make your dreams come true. You can literally make almost anything here if you have the vision and the ambition to complete your project. I discover something new every time I’m there. It’s going to be a sad day if I ever have to leave the area because I’ve not discovered anything similar.

Great place to meet and do projects. The community is very friendly, and will help with projects, and Fix-​It-​Fridays are fun.
Of the tools, I use the laser cutter the most — it’s amazing how many Halloween costumes need fabric or acrylic shapes cut out, or games that can use new custom pieces cut.
My daughter really gets a kick out of using the auto-​embroidery machine to stitch words and pictures onto gifts.
I’m glad to have this place nearby.

* Great meeting place for many clubs: crafts, robots, makers, etc.
* Tons of machines and tools at your fingertips
* Lots of classes to learn how to use the different machines
* Potential to be a community of innovators
* Really friendly staff and members
* A unique space that isn’t common in most places in Michigan
Lowlights
* Needs more help with generating ideas for members. Maybe the front room could have an idea board that members can post on
* Monthly price is a little steep, especially if you don’t have a project in mind
Overall, a great addition to Ann Arbor!
