Amazing food, excellent service, cozy atmosphere, and 2 rooms for private events! You have to try the Spanish Sardines as a small plate, and the Sea Bass as an entrée. Delicious!

My family and I celebrated my birthday dinner here last night and were totally blown away by the food and service. The menu has changed quite a bit since our last time here in 2012, although some old favorites like the roasted medjool dates and wonderful garlicky spread for the complimentary bread basket remain. First off, as a person who avoids gluten due to medical issues, I was pleasantly surprised by the number of gluten free options that were offered. I was served a gluten free toast shaped a bit like melba toast with my appetizers, and it was quite tasty. Gluten free pastas are also available, although I did not sample any on this trip. We were allowed to bring our own gluten free cake which was then served for us. Although I can’t speak to what the kitchen policies are for avoiding cross contamination, the hostess and server were both extremely knowledgeable about the gluten free aspects of the menu and I had no problems. Second, our server Nora was excellent. I feel like she deserves special mention for taking care of us so impeccably when we had 2 guests who don’t speak English, a bilingual guest translating, and me with my dietary issues. She made sure everything was taken care of for us, without being overbearing or rushing the meal. She even helped us pack up our things at the end of the night and stored my flowers while I ate. Her knowledge of the menu was excellent, and she was pleasant without being overly familiar. If you get seated in her section, she will take great care of you! Third, the food was really good. Like, so good that you cannot believe you are in a strip mall and that the price point is ~20−35 per entrée. If you do decide to dine here, do not miss the loup de mer or the ribeye! These 2 entrees in particular blow anything on Main Street out of the water, but everything else was delicious as well. For appetizers, you cannot go wrong with the dates, but the fried brussels sprouts with fennel/marcona almonds/olives were also delicious. The prosciutto di parma was fresh and moist and tasted lovely with the bread basket. The patatas bravas were tasty as well, according to the other guests. The special was a seafood soup, which my husband raved about, but I enjoyed the minestrone. My mother chose the beet salad, which had purple and golden beets, a vinaigrette, and blue cheese on top of arugula with a pistachio crumble. My mother in law and father in law shared the Greek salad, which was the only item in the entire meal that didn’t impress(although it was inoffensive). For entrees, the parents all had the ribeye. I stole a bite and it was intensely flavorful and cooked perfectly to order. My loup de mer with chermoula sauce was fantastically fresh and came with a warm salad of carrot/fennel/mandarins/arugula/citrus vinaigrette on top of fried fingerling potatoes. My husband had the mediterrano special chicken, which is poached in white wine and served with a caper cream sauce over basmati rice and a dollop of homemade yogurt on top. In short, the service was fantastic, the food was fantastic, and we will be back for our next special occasion! Thank you Mediterrano(and Nora) for a lovely evening!

I always get the chicken kabob here. It’s laid on a bed of rice that is flavored with the sun’s color; tastes wonderful. I might switch up the meat next time, but I’m die hard for the rice.

I hadn’t been here in ages and so I took a prospective co-worker out to lunch here. We were all very impressed. For 3 people for lunch(not drinking), it was pricey but the food was plentiful(roasted brussels sprouts, pesto sandwich and stock pot lunch) and super tasty. Service was cordial and I would go back again for dinner. I’d forgotten how good it was.

Ate here to celebrate my graduation with my parents. Food is wonderful and a nice twist to the usual Mediterranean taste. Scallops was nicely sweet and juicy. No complaints, some of the best food I’ve had in Ann Arbor.

Great tasty food and great atmosphere with service. I had a purée corn soap that was out of this world. Next was strawberry salad that was wonderful. My main entrée was the fish special which was excellent. It had so many different ingredients that was really tasteful, I would highly recommend this Mac and come back again when I am in this location!

Ray, the manager, contacted me regarding my last review and invited me back for dinner to make up for the Valentine’s Day mishap and I appreciated that so much. They totally took accountability for the unfortunate evening and they did a great job making up for it by showcasing their excellent potential. Anna was a wonderful, perfect server. I had actually remembered her as soon as she approached our table because she had treated us so amazingly at a different restaurant I had dined at several years ago, and this visit was of no less quality. We did receive an overcooked steak but it was handled properly and appropriately. Kudos to that. Everything else was phenomenal, I very much appreciated the amazing timing, service and food from beginning to end. I really give kudos and thanks to Ray and Mediterrano for taking the time and effort to win us back. This is the type of interaction from a restaurant that really shows they care about their patrons and I can’t ask for more than that.

Convenience, ambiance and authentic flavors all in one spot. Raymond and Olsi will greet you and make sure that your lunch or dinner experience will be memorable. Make sure that you will ask your server about special wines, not just featured, that you can enjoy, by the bottle. Great pricing and excellent labels/vintages.

Overall it was ok food with ok service. Our server kept trying to sell us on other(more expensive) items on the menu and she was not able to answer questions on the dishes. The potato purée that came with the bread was odd. I was surprised there was no hummus or taziki :/. My kabob was pretty but it tasted like fuel/gas. Same with the veggies. I don’t plan on returning.

Gross. Gloppy, dry pasta, that had clearly had been made way in advance. Our food was out within 7 minutes of ordering, so that’s never a very good sign. I had the stock pot lunch, and while the salad and pita were fine, the soup was horrible. I was told it was a creamy seafood soup, and what came out was the texture of water with a little oil and seafood flavor in it. I sent it back and asked for the other soup, which was a minestrone. That was also unremarkable and had two whole bay leaves in one small bowl of soup. My wife had some sort of pasta(pictured). She took about three bites and left the rest. A decent server would have looked at our mostly uneaten food and at least asked if something was wrong. The bread basket that was brought to the table was worn gross and gray on the edges from being handled by dirty fingers. Replace the baskets monthly, for gosh sakes. What would that cost? About 30 bucks? The service was pretty abominable and inattentive. We were left with empty glasses, and I had to wave another server down to get my soup changed. Once the food was delivered, there was no check in until we flagged the server down for the check. Overall, I have no clue what people see in this restaurant other than the fact that there aren’t many choices in the area for business folks. Go anywhere else. Really.

The waitress had a strong accent, but impeccable customer service. She suggested the arugula/pear/Gorgonzola salad to go with my pan seared salmon. I haven’t felt this«in love» with a meal in a long time. Clean, relaxing environment with my favorite Sam Smith type music playing.

It should be taken as a good sign that I left Mediterrano wondering when I would be able to go back and try some more items on the menu. The restaurant was not crowded, and we were seated immediately with our waiter right on the host’s heels to offer beverages. He continued to offer excellent service throughout the night. I ordered the Jerusalem chicken, and my friend ordered the butternut squash ravioli. We were brought bread, and just as we finished eating it(which did not take long at all, we were quite hungry) our entrees were brought to our table. Amazingly quick. The ravioli was pretty good. The chicken was very good, especially the sauce, and was of substantial size(two pieces of chicken, rice, and a heaping of zucchini and yellow squash.

Although it took awhile to figure out who had my table, the food was worth waiting for. The Caprese Salad and smoked chicken tortellini were excellent. Great job on the sauce. I’ll be back.

11−13−13 — Party of seven. Last time we had Angry Waitress as our server; this time we had Cheerful Waitress, aka Anita. Huge change in service level. Anita made an excellent wine recommendation, and recited the menu specials flawlessly.(Given there were 7 of them, she pulled it off admirably). I had crab cakes(good) and the roasted pear salad(also good). My companions had the spaghetti with meatballs(good) and one had the scallops(a little underdone). Overall, a much more pleasant experience than the first visit. Thanks, Anita! You earned your employer another star.

Update. Dined there tonight and enjoyed a happy hour glass of wine and an appetizer. Then ordered the Scottish Salmon. Looked good but I knew it was undercooked — stupidly I ate it anyway. BIG mistake, within the hour my stomach was like lead and I have been in the bathroom ever since. Yes guys I should have sent it back, but the restaurant was super quiet — couldn’t you have made sure my fish was properly prepared? I won’t be back in a hurry after this :(

Located off state street just before the mall, Mediterrano is, as the name would suggest, a fairly fancy Mediterranean restaurant. The first thing you’ll notice as you walk in is the décor. There are stone sculptures, and art work hung on every wall. It’s quite a lovely place. Your waiter will just take your order, check on you once to ask how the food is, and ask if you want dessert/the bill. You have random servers bring you bread and other food and take away your dishes. A little odd, but whatever. Started with the oktapodi(octopus). They were not doing salmon carpaccio anymore, since they started serving a Scottish Salmon, and it would’ve been a waste to marinate that. The dish was just okay — not stoked about the flavor. The small pieces of octopus failed to achieve that perfect tender texture from braising. Oh well. Had the chicken kebab as the entrée, and split it with my date. They were kind enough to serve it on two plates already prepared for us, which was nice, as I was expecting to have to dig at an entrée plate from either side of the table. The chicken was cooked very nicely; it had a little bit of char for that smokey flavor, but was otherwise tender and juicy. Served with refreshing dill yogurt sauce. My only complaint is that the rice was completely bland, even though it looked like it would’ve had some sort of spice or seasoning from its color. Overall, it’s not a bad place to stop for a classier dinner. And it’s a nice break to not have to fight for parking on Main street.
