Ate here on Father’s Day. My wife had the 1 ¼ lb. steamed lobster. The waiter expertly removed the shell and arranged it appetizingly on her plate, thus, causing none of the usual mess. I had the blue plate special which seemed cut back from the last time I ordered it — I believe they cut out the 2 Oysters Rockefeller but of course left the pricing the same, a sad but disappointing trend everywhere. The rest of the plate consisted of a large crab cake, a small piece of stuffed salmon, and a small skewer of shrimp and scallops. This was all tasty, albeit on the small side for the price. The meals included a small portion of always good cole slaw and garlic rolls. Ate outside but it was sweltering and decided to skip the always delicious coconut cream pie for ice cream in a cooler locale! Lastly, I like that they offer 2 sizes of wines by the glass!

Our last visit was years ago and it wasn’t a great experience so I was a bit leary about returning but I’m glad we did, we went for lunch and it was so nice to sit in the bar area with an open view to the outdoors. The weather was perfect and so was our meal. I had the seafood pasta and my companion had grilled salmon, they were both perfectly cooked, the salmon was moist and flakey. The pasta was the perfect al dente and our server was really attentive.

Delicious. Food was great, server was a bit slow. Would go again the next time we are in town.

There were two Seafood Restaurants downtown to choose from and reservations were recommended. The other restaurant did not have anything available until 2100. So, it was an easy choice. There was a parking deck off 4th Street with plenty of parking and very convenient to the restaurant. As soon as you walk in the door it is clear that this is going to be very nice dining experience. From the hostesses to the waitstaff everyone is well dressed, friendly, and accommodating. The place is clean and roomy. We chose a booth and were instantly impressed with the iPad Menu’s. Although a bit overwhelming at first, the waitress was very understanding and took the time to explain the whole process to us. I especially liked how you could see the pictures of the dishes prior to ordering. The bread was excellent and they brought more with the meal. I ordered a salad and the Pan Fried Lump Maryland Blue Crab cakes with stewed tomatoes. For desert I had the Cheese cake with Strawberry sauce(the strawberries were out of season and tart, but the cheese cake was good). The crab cakes were full of lump crab meat and limited breading, very filling(plenty of food for the price). I would definitely recommend this seafood restaurant if you are in the Ann Arbor area and looking for some delicious seafood.

I knew I was going to like the place the moment we walked in. Great atmosphere. They were not many tables available but there was one in the covered patio. We were seated immediately. We were handed their menu in a digital tablet. I love this feature. You can read about how each dish is made along with the photo of it. Very impressed. Our waiter Austin was was friendly, polite ad professional. We all enjoyed our dinner. The timing of the service was just right. We are definitely going back.

I really loved the environment here — we sat near the front right inside the open wall. My friend and I shared the paella valenciana. It didn’t have very much rice at all and had great flavor, but the seafood and chicken were a little dry. In addition, on Sunday’s, they don’t serve lunch portions of anything so come ready to eat a dinner portion. Their starting bread is phenomenal!

Real Seafood has the best happy hour in Ann Arbor. $ 3.50 pints and $ 5.008oz. House wines from 5−7pm. All of the servers in the bar area are great. Our server Micaela is always tentative and smiling. Real Seafood has great dinner specials, but unfortunately most of their entrees are way overpriced, enough so where you would want to look other places before committing.

Great ingredients! So-so flavors… They don’t skimp on the seafood. But, for the price, that’s the least one would expect. Given the great ingredients, however, I expected MORE. More depth of flavor, more taste of fresh sea, more… MORE! The calamari was a bit oily, but soft. The salmon was just ok, at least it was not dry, but that’s very low expectations. And finally, the paella was lacking in flavor and left me yearning for the seaside little eats somewhere else. I did enjoy the ambience, which is something in between a bistro and a finer Olive Garden. Now to the million dollar question: would I come back? Only if an unwavering craving for seafood overpowers me.

Pretty good place for seafood. Good setting inside and friendly staffs. I think it’s a bit pricy place, but their birthday deal is great. If you come on your birthday for two people, you can get 50% off and a free dessert. The menus are tablets, you can see the picture about what you’re ordering rather than just a vague description. Can be crowded, reservation would be helpful.

We’ve been coming to this place for years but when we came here recently the food level was sub-par. The food was salty and under whelming. I hope they ramp up the menu especially with all of the other great restaurants that are coming into Ann Arbor.

Real Seafood has a birthday deal. I like to take my mom there on her birthday. The surroundings are fancy enough to make it a special occasion. The food is good, too. And«normal» enough, even for Mom! The menu arrives on a tablet, which I had to show my mom how to use. At least they make it relatively easy to order gluten free in this restaurant. I liked my gluten free whitefish very much, and I had decided to order a glass of wine, even though it was only lunchtime. I asked for«something with a passion fruit taste» because those are my favorite. I’m not very knowledgeable at picking out wine, but I know the flavors that I like! When I find one I like, I’m sure to remember it. The Whitehaven Savignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand really fit the bill! Lots of citrus notes, and even a bit of passion fruit in the finish. Score! Our waiters were very accommodating, even when my sister-in-law and her friend stopped by our table unexpectedly, just to visit for a couple of minutes. The waiters tried to convince them to stay a while, but they had other plans, and just wanted to say hi to my mom for a little while on her big day. Hugs and kisses all around, and then they were on their way. My mom’s dessert was complimentary. I abstained, because I didn’t see any GF desserts on the menu. For me, a piece of nicely ripe fresh fruit or a low-sugar fruit compote would be sufficient. Mom was starting to get antsy. She wanted to get back to her office, so she asked that they bring her dessert in a to-go box. They brought it out with a candle, and had her blow it out. Not much of a ritual when you are in a hurry. But that’s my mom! Nose to the grindstone. I left the waiters a generous tip for putting up with all of our unexpected antics.

I left out one thing from my previous review that was both innovative and a surprise — the menus are on Android tablets. When ordering you can see a picture of the item and options(such as if you wanted a steak there is a handy tool alongside your choice explaining what your degree of wellness would look like: rare, medium rare, done, etc.). I’ve not seen this in any restaurant previously and now my thinking is why not? Tablets are becoming cheaper by the day(especially Androids), saves paper and changing menu items(or descriptions, prices, etc) is as easy as sending out an update to all the tablets. Just another reason why I will eat here again next time I’m in Ann Arbor!

They have a good Happy Hr menu, and it’s until 7pm. But last night we went for dinner and everything was Amazing. I had linguini with clams, and it was so fresh and the pasta was perfectly cooked. The S.O. had the lobster and shrimp«stew» — I Highly recommend this dish! OMG the rich creamy sauce/stew that it came in was heaven. Very thick and flavorful, so it’s good to balance it out with another dish that’s light. The interactive menu with pictures helps a Lot. Also, our server was among the best I’ve seen in A2! She was great — helpful, professional, and friendly, and poised and elegant. I always get The Poet oatmeal stout when I’m here, as it’s hard to find at other restaurants, so I really appreciate that they offer it here.

Out of all the main street restaurants in Ann Arbor, I consider Real Seafood is the most reasonably priced and portioned. I tend to only come here for birthdays or for lunch during Restaurant Week. The calamari is a good choice of appetizers especially with the delicious bread and butter that accompanies the meal. I would discourage diners from eating the jambalaya or seafood alfredo — instead, pick a fish from the fresh catches and cook it based off the menu’s recommendations. I personally like swordfish and sea bass. For a party of 2, with appetizer and 2 entrees, it comes out to around $ 70(not counting wine or dessert). The waitstaff and atmosphere is not Chophouse level but it’s definitely reasonable and will make for a special night out meal.

Seafood is Best Food — and Real Seafood Company definitely did that phrase justice. It’s one of those joints where you take 15 minutes staring at the menu(or in this case, IPad menus. kinda weird but I get it) trying to decide what to order because you legit want to order the entire menu. Thankfully, my group decided to start off with a multitude of appetizers, buying me some more time to choose an entrée. And whoa were those apps amazing! Crab Cheese Tater Tots?! You had me at ‘hello’. The calamari was also fantastic and crisp but not chewy — perfect. Though my favorite just might have been the coconut crusted shrimp — jumbo shrimp coated in equally jumbo coconut flakes. My entrée was equally delicious, settling on the baked stuffed flounder — very flavorful, well proportioned, and cooked perfectly. Everyone at our table loved their respective meals as well. My only –1 star is for the service that night — our waiter was hit or miss with coming to our table and messed up a few drink orders. He also didn’t seem very professional or attentive — but no big deal, that’s the case some time and not indicative of overall experience.

I really do not thing this place is as bad as fellow Unilocalers make it out to be. Our server was really energetic and polite. She knew when to check in on us and when we were doing just fine. They have iPads as their menus and at first I was really confused as to what it was. I thought it was some third-party company coming in to use those as advertisements but then I realized it was a menu(lol). We had lots of suggestions coming from our server and Unilocal reviews I was looking at, so that made our decision a lot easier. I think it was a little pricey for what you get and the quality of the food, but it is considered one of the«nicer» restaurants along Main St. If you’re in the mood for seafood, I recommend checking this place out! I had a great experience here.

We were visiting the area and decided to take a walk down main street. Stopped in for lunch and found this neat place. Food was tasty. Ordered the salmon avocado slider, salad, thai coconut shrimp wrap, and the grilled cheese. The best part was sitting on the patio while it was raining on and off. Good service too!

I am so glad we chose to eat here! I was visiting Ann Arbor with family for my little brothers graduation and we chose Real Seafood for our celebration dinner, and boy am I glad we honored this suggestion! I love that they have ipads for menus. Some people were hesitant at first, but after scrolling through all of the photos and great food descriptions, I would be disappointed to go back to a boring old paper menu. Our service was fantastic, including lots of suggestions on food and wine pairings. The location is right off of main street, with the garage-style doors open to the beautiful spring weather. The price is up there, so save this for a special occasion and you won’t be disappointed!
