Shapiro has it all and is a great place to hang out on central campus. It’s home to the Undergraduate library, Science Library, and AskWith Media Library. Walking into the building you will first see Bert’s Study Lounge, which is a study space full of tables, chairs, and digital screens. Students can even submit their work to be displayed on the screens in this space or they can just drop by to study and plug their laptop into the screens for studying or group work. Speaking of studying, there are so many places to study here in addition to the Study Lounge. There are multiple reservable study rooms to ensure you get private, quiet area to study. Some of these rooms on the first floor are even equipped with technology for group meetings and video creation and editing. Also be sure to check out the Children’s Literature Collection room in the basement, the Browsing Collection on the 1st floor, Periodical Reading Room on the 3rd floor, and the Shapiro Instruction Center on the 4th floor for more great open study spaces. And of course, there are tables and chairs available on every floor where you can take up residence. If you still can’t find a place to study, you can just walk through the connector to Hatcher and study in one of it’s plethora of spaces or the incredible(and easy to get lost in) stacks. This library also has Bert’s Café where you can get coffee, pastries, sandwiches, and other snacks. The AskWith Media Library where you can checkout DVDs or watch old formats or pick-up course reserves. The Espresso Book machine where you can an on-demand print of a book or dissertation. And they also offer gender-neutral restrooms on the 4th floor. During the semester this place is always hopping! There are often tables set up near the entrance of student orgs, people gathered around the TVs watching sports, campus tours, events in the Center for Entrepreneurship, and during finals there are Legos and therapy dogs for students. Be sure to stop in just to see the sights or to grab a place to study. It’s also connected to the Hatcher Library so it’s the ultimate place to get a coffee and get comfy!

It’s hit or miss in terms of finding a place to sit. There aren’t many windows and it’s kind of stuffy. The girls bathroom is absolutely disgusting. I don’t know why. It looks nice when you walk in because that’s what they renovated some time ago, but otherwise, UGLi is its name for a reason.
