This review is for that dude named Josh(I think his badge said he was a team leader or something) that works there. He is the most helpful tryhard salesperson ever. My roommate and I just wanted a few folders and notebooks, and this guy moved heaven and earth to make sure we got what we wanted. I’ve never seen such dedication from a Staples worker, or any office supply store worker. If I needed someone to bring a ring to Mordor, I would choose Josh. Except I wouldn’t because this world needs more people like him, and it would be irresponsible for me to risk a great life like that.

I purchased a laptop over the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised to find the price at Staples to be better than Amazon for this particular PC. The sales guy, Kevin, was quite helpful and offered 5% off for the floor model laptop for the minor scratches on the bottom. Three days later I went back to Staples and talked with Kevin again because I was having issues with Windows on the laptop. His response was that they would do the same things I was doing and that I should call Microsoft. Apparently the advertised tech support service advertised are incapable of calling Microsoft and helping customers.

This is your typical Staples, I haven’t visited one recently because I don’t own a business or need back to school supplies(too old… meh). As others have stated, in today’s world, Amazon has taken prescedent over stores like this, but it is still nice to walk in, smell that large quantity of paper, touch something to see what it feels like before you buy it(if you are getting some heavy stock paper, etc;) I came in here to get a box of printer paper, as I ran out and needed it before 2 days of free shipping from Amazon came around. Sometimes you just need things RIGHTNOW, and shipping doesn’t cut it. I found the pricing for the product I purchased to be about $ 0.50 cents difference from Amazon, and was happy paying the extra for«right now».

This location has more in stock than the one on Jackson Avenue. While the selection isn’t as large as the Staples I’ve been to in California, it’s been sufficient enough for my office supply needs. Even then, I find that Amazon has become more of my go-to place for it. It’s convenient for me with Amazon Student. No need to travel when I got my free two day shipping!

I stopped in to print some Cards Against Humanity cards, as recommended by the company on their Creative Commons instruction sheet and was pleased that Staples already had some sheets printed.(Apparently, I was not the first to come in for this.) However, what was initially a really pleasant store experience has wound up being a time-consuming headache. When they first ran my credit card, they told me it had not processed, took me over to another register, then ran it again. I find out a couple days later that they double billed me for the same singular purchase. I’ve tried getting the refund through the company’s customer service website with no success; I can’t believe the amount of time I’ve wasted trying to fix their mistake. Be forewarned: Never, ever let this store swipe your card twice, even if they claim the first time didn’t work.
