It’s the best place to go and be treated with the latest using the latest tools to help. Cbt groups are great.

A problem with this facility is that the staff are not well trained to facilitate the needs of transgender individuals. The last person I saw apparently consistently wrote the wrong pronouns in his notes and acted like a typical hetronormalitive white male with all of the privilege. But I hear that he is not at the Upjohn Center anymore, which is what I can honestly say for the best. You are likely to get a resident that is currently training and won’t be likely to work with you for a long period of time, but that is the nature of this facility. . A plus on their part is that the people working hear consistently know that they should have several refills for each prescription and they are very good about getting refills in an appropriate period of time.

What an awesome building with a wide variety of services! There is so much stigma attached to mental illness, but when I walked into the building, I immediately felt like I wasn’t alone. I live in Oakland County, but go there to participate in research studies that involve Bipolar Disorder. They have part of the upstairs devoted to this. I am involved in the Prechter Genes Study, and I also did a study that involved an EEG. Everyone is always professional and caring from the doctors to the grad students to the Social Workers. They also followed up with a letter informing us how to access a publication about some findings. I found that to be very rewarding. Obviously, I am not going there for treatment, but I am extremely impressed by what I witness when I go there. They are truly making a difference in the present and future!

I haven’t been a patient here, but I’ve been in the building several times, have poked around on their website, and interviewed here for a job. The building is really beautiful and has been nominated for some architecture awards. It’s new and bright and modern. The mission is really cool– they are the nation’s first«comprehensive» depression center. This means that the work with depression, bipolar disorder and sleep disorders. The reason sleep disorders are included is that they are often linked with depression. Also, they don’t just treat depression, but they do research here and do educational outreach. Everyone I met there when I was interviewing was very nice and very committed to the cause. I’d feel comfortable recommending the Depression Center to anyone.
